Re: some people are getting it VERY WRONG.
im supporting mayweathers tactics, im just saying he easily UD'd ODLH.
when i say calzaghe started using hit and run tactics...
in the first 6 rounds, he was aggressive and tried wading in, but couldnt out jab kessler and 2) he was getting rocked badly when he carelessly went in.
the n he started boxing more on the outside with fast jabs that were doing nuttin but scoring, no power. and then he'll do his usualy flurry and win the round. kessler always came back very well..
HE DESERVES A REMATCH. i think calzaghe has the bottle to face him but warren wouldnt let this fight happen even if kessler was willing to come over.
warren and previously admitted with khan that he is a business man, and wont risk his business by making khan fight against anyone with a pulse.
if you watch the calzaghe - kessler fight again, everytime kessler stuns calzaghe or even lands a jab, watch warrens face. he isnt gonna wanna go through anything like that again, its not good for the heart.
Re: some people are getting it VERY WRONG.
Some people on the fightbeat.com boards said that it was an easy decision. It wasn't anywhere close to an easy decision. Kessler almost won.

at most i gave ODH 3 rounds. if you know abit about boxing and defense, then you'll know oscar was hardly landing anything when he threw a flurry, and was rocked by a counter right, so he became abit shy after that. but ppl like ricky hatton, seem to think that it was a close fight. IT WAS NOT. and those that say it was just dont know anything about boxing.
yes i'll agree the rounds were tense, and could of gone either way at times, but mayweathers defense was too much.
and on saturday i predicted calzaghe would outpoint kessler, he would out work him.
that wasnt the story for the first 7 rounds atleast. in round 4 kessler rocked calzaghe pretty bad, he looked in control. i WAS EXTREMLY SHOCKED AT HOW KESSLER COULD STAY WITH CALZAGHE PUNCH FOR PUNCH. mikkel was even beating joe to the jab many a times.
after round 7, calzaghe started using the hit and run tactics, great tactics to win a fight, especially if ur fast like calzaghe or a mayweather did against de la hoya.
kessler was getting of with wicked combos, rocked calzaghe on numerous occasions, i was also impressed with joe's chin, very strong. anyone lesser would have gone down.
after round 8, kessler seemed too tired, calzaghe basically outworked him, kessler fought in spurts, when he did, he was effective, i HAVE NEVER SEEN A FIGHTER GET OF WITH COMBOS ON JOE LIKE KESSLER, NOT EVEN EUBANK. HE WAS LANDING HIS JAB AND HIS ACCURACY WAS AWESOME.
yes he lost the fight but people are saying, he dominated, the papers said it was an easy UD. no it wasnt. and in a rematch in copehagen, kessler has a HUUUUGE chance of winning.
if anyone knows kessler then please tell him to not get worried about this loss, it was against a great fighter, and he lost in style. he is a great fighter.
basically what i wanted to get clear was....mayweather - de la hoya fight should not have been scored closely, mayweather clearly won.
and kessler put up A GREAT GREAT FIGHT against calzaghe, his hands were up and he was able to keep up with joe throuhout, he will be back and unify the division. i think joe was afraid of kesslers power. a few times he thought about theowing his slapping flurries but was always caught and rocked, so he decided to use his hit and run, an occasional flurry.
kessler is an awesome fighter.

It was quite close because some people like the aggressor even though Oscar missed alot of his punches he threw more punches than Mayweather andfooled quite alot of people i had Mayweather winning by about 3 or 2 rounds i believe.

He was outworking Kessler in virtually every round first 4 rounds were close but after that Calzaghe pulled away just look at punch stats and i know people don't like using punchstats or ect but just to give you an idea.
Check this link for the punchstats.

Hit and run tactics ?? Calzaghe was coming forward and trading punches with Kessler most of the time so i don't understand this comment at all.

Agreed.

I thought Kessler fought in spurts for quite alot of the fight because of the amount of punches Calzaghe was throwing made Kessler less active.
yes he lost the fight but people are saying, he dominated, the papers said it was an easy UD. no it wasnt. and in a rematch in copehagen, kessler has a HUUUUGE chance of winning.
It wasn't easy but it was pretty clear cut victory and Kessler would not beat Calzaghe anywhere it doesn't matter where they fight Calzaghe is better fighter unless Kessler gets a gift decision.
basically what i wanted to get clear was....mayweather - de la hoya fight should not have been scored closely, mayweather clearly won.

Afraid of Kessler's power ?? if he was that afraid he wouldn't of been trading shots with Kessler i think Calzaghe won by a bigger margin than how Mayweather beat Oscar.
Re: some people are getting it VERY WRONG.
Ice,they have to land to count, yes he was outworking, but he wasnt landing, and he certainly wasnt landing crisply or with power

He wasn't landing crisp shots with power ?? so what was the swelling on Kessler's eye or the blood coming out of his nose ??
Re: some people are getting it VERY WRONG.
Man monkey you hate Cal don't you the fight could of gone either way. What the fuck were you watching and if Joe was not throwing powerful punches then what happen when you had kess hurt and if the ref did not stop it kess would of been on his ass. There is no way that kess won more then four rounds you could say that calzaghe won ten rounds i would rounds and i would not argue with it.

Totally disagree here.
Joe busted him up pretty good...to the head & the body...just read any of the interviews with Kessler. After the fight Kess said that he was never hurt...he doubled over once & got rocked many times.
He later changed his tune.

Dont hate him at all,I have the fight on tape,Kessler was catching most of it on his arms.
Now that being said,I said before the fight,if Mikkel thinks he's walking in to Joes back yard and winning without dropping him,he's an absolute fool.
Joe took some brutal shots, and kept busy enough to win the fight on the cards, and he took everything Mikkel had to offer.
It was a very good fight from both of them,Mikkel for countering nicely, and landing every bomb he could,Joe for keeping a very high pace, and taking all of those shots.
Its not the first fight that volume takes the day, certainly not when your fighting on the other guys turf,Mikkel tried to drop him,he just couldnt do it,Joes chin was taking all of it.
Re: some people are getting it VERY WRONG.
Ok but monkey maybe i was mistaken but did you not say if could of gone either way. If that is true i am sorry no way i can see that fight with out seeing Joe won it but i look again.
Re: some people are getting it VERY WRONG.
Just want to comment on the Oscar - Mayweather fight. I won't go far as saying that it was a total domination but Mayweather did frustrate Oscar and make him look like a fool somewhat. But I want to give credit to the Pretty boy for taking the fight, I think if there is any fight he really took his risk, it's this one. After a long indecision, he did take the plunge in the end, and good for him, he did win. Everybody knows the 'big bucks' was the major factor for his decision, but risk is still a risk so let's give him the due credit for taking it. I only hope he goes on taking those 'risks' more and I'm pretty sure he can beat 'em all.
Re: some people are getting it VERY WRONG.
Mr Lionheart Lacy, most of what has been said in the early part of the thread explains why you are wrong in my eyes. Stating your opinions are fact is rather egotistical, when in FACT, your just talking bullcrap to back up your opinions. Which are certainly not FACTS. And in my OPINION, and many others', including the judges, it was a close fight.
And have an SC from me.

We all know how Boxing goes,if your fighting on the other guys patch of land, you either have to put him on his duff,or completely outwork him.
Mikkel did neither, lord knows he tried with the putting him on his duff part,it just looked like he was landing more often and with bigger shots. On neutral ground maybe it goes the other way.But it wasnt neutral ground, and Mikkel knew it,and didnt take care of his buisness out there.
No faulting Joe at all,he knew what he had to do out there, and did it.
Be interesting to see a rematch in the states, where neither one of them have home field advantage. Doubt it happens though, their allready hyping a Bhop fight, which I honestly dont care to watch, but probably will.
Re: some people are getting it VERY WRONG.
I thought it was one of those fights that was competitive but not controversial.
After four rounds I thought Kessler was really in it and had a good chance. For a second in the fifth I thought Joe was even getting a bit desperate when he just went all out trying to maul Kessler, totally wrong on that.
Re: some people are getting it VERY WRONG.
It was competive but after watching this fight again Joe clearly won by a large margin in the fight.

That reminds me of Hopkins-Eastman. Eastman has always said if it wasn't for Hopkins having the home American advantage the fight could of gone his way.. and would of loved a rematch on neutral ground, let alone at home.
