I dont think so, I dont favor someone because of their race, and I'm kind of sick of the generalization that white's want the white fighter to win over other races. Can someone set me straight or do I have a legit bitch? Im not calling you out LEGION, but are white people really hoping still? Look at the heavyweights, 3/4 of the champions are white.
No I hear what you're saying No Contest. I'm as white as snow ;D I just mentioned it because there was alot of backtalk about Kelly being a next Great White Hope, at least in several articles I've read. Arum mentioned it alot I believe before the Miranda fight. I didn't want to bring it up but since I didn't have anything intelligent to say I figured I would say something stupid ;D But seriously, whether people mention it or not in the game, it's still thought about. Since Quarry, Cooney, Morrison. Sorry if I was a lame-o, bad habit to break. Guess I just got owned again by No Contest. :D

What's racist about 'the great white hope'? Races SHOULD celebrate their differences imo. I see no difference in supporting a 'white' fighter than I do in supporting a national fighter.
Does it offend your sensabilities to talk in terms of an 'American hope', or a 'British hope'?
What's the difference? And I know people of all colours make up each nationality but that's not what I'm saying. What I'm saying is why is it different to root for someone based on nationality rather than race?
Neither is racist in my mind.
Re: Most Un-Marketable Champion Ever
If you move to another Country do you change your nationality.Glad we have Passports huh?Race goes along for the ride.
I still Memorialize Darrin Van Horn and Greg Haugen LOl..... :'( ;)
The term Great white Hope defines itself!Thank you Rickard and Jeffries.
Re: Most Un-Marketable Champion Ever
Well being racist by definition is to favor one race. Supporting a fighter just because he is white is racist. Supporting a fighter for Nationality is totally different, thats Nationalism. I got no problems with Nationalism. I dont have problems with people being proud of their race. I do have a problem with people that think their race is superior. Favoring someone who is like you is normal. Thats not racist , the hope part is. I kind of take it like whites are hopeless. ;D
Re: Most Un-Marketable Champion Ever
Cool thread. Corey Spinks must be a nightmare to promote, which is why he always wants to fight in his own backyard.
Re: Most Un-Marketable Champion Ever
Re: Most Un-Marketable Champion Ever
What about Carlos Maussa? Wasn't he into pitchforks and Beezlebub worshipping? Don't know if that would help or hurt promoting him. Not to mention his performance the other night ;D
Re: Most Un-Marketable Champion Ever
Jack Johnson must have been hard to market as he was champ in a time when blacks were hated and everybody wanted him to loose. thankfully things have moved on from then :)

I was thinking of starting a thread on most marketable champs and thought Johnson would have been very marketable considering the times. No one wanted to see that guy succeed back then and would seem easy to get fights for him so some white guy could knock his block off ;D Not to mention how much animosity he created by running around with white women and the establishment hating that. Lots of people gunning for him and wanting him gone, so very marketable IMO, unless I'm missing something{which isn't unusual for me} ;D

A guy who was nicknamed 'El Magnifico' (The Magnificent) is un-marketable.
A guy who has 31 KO's in 42 fights.
Whos had one of the best trilogies with Larios.
Whos P4P in some peoples lists.
IMO he's as marketable as they come.
How about Zahir Raheem & Julio Ler. :(
Re: Most Un-Marketable Champion Ever
