Although Pavlik is a great fighter at 160lbs, I dont think he would be as good at 168lbs. In his last fight he showed the his weight is not much of a problem. He had a 166lbs weight limit and came in at 164lbs. That shows that he does not need the extra weight, and it does not benefit him. He also did not look quite as good in this past fight with Taylor. Although Jermain fought better, it did not seem Kelly had the same power. Maybe this was do to other circumstances, not sure.
IMO at 168lbs, the extra weight will hurt him more than help him. Since he is such a great fighter, he would fare well with many of the top guys. I just think he is a much better middleweigh than he would be a supermiddleweight.
I think he will groove right into 168. He may have come in a 164 as he probably did not want to build muscle mass, as he fully planned on fighting at 160 again. When the time comes, he will be a great, but still skinny 168 pounder. The only difference in this fight over his last is he would not starve himself like he usually does. He is probably a natural 168 lb guy but stays at 160 via hard work and not letting his weight get out of control between fights.

I am biased, no denying it! But I talk highly of Kelly. He has proven me wrong and I am seeing what other people do. I just think he is a P4P better fighter at 160lbs than to 168lbs.
Others can step up and do better (Cotto is a good example).
Although not proven yet, I think my boy Pantera will fare much better at the higher weight. Being 192lbs in the ring after a 170lbs weigh in shows how large he really is.
Re: Pavlik at 168:how would he do?
being from Ohio, ill try not to be biased, but i dont think pavlik's power will go with him. He will still be heavy handed, but he will have to use alot more than a 1-2 combo at 168. He will mos def be amoung the elite at 168, but he wont stay undefeated.
Re: Pavlik at 168:how would he do?
A fight I would love to see at 168 would be Pavlik and Andrade. That would be a fight that would definitely end in someone getting KTFO!!
