yeah im actually going to start putting tabata running and punch out drills into my workout. Im just waiting on a interval timer to arrive in the post so i can use it on my runs...
as for sprints do you think i should have a day where i just do sprints or should i just sprint during my normal runs. Are 100 meter sprints suitable... by how many???

For fat loss i actually walk on a treadmill.
Set the treadmill on a 15 incline and walk at around 4mph for 30-40 mins. When performing this type of activity your body will use fat as a fuel rather than carbohydrates. It's likely that you're body will enter it's fat burning mode after around 15 minutes.
This activity will keep your heart rate at somewhere between 120-135 which is optimal for fat loss. I'm guessing you're aged between 18-35?
This type of training is also excellent for retaining muscle mass while losing fat.

i just had a look at my treadmill and i cant incline it. will i get the same effect from running up and down hills do you think.

I tried to message you back, sorry forgot about restrictions for PMs...like I said...I know nothing of losing weight, and am not even sure tabatas are best for that. I think jogging or what has been mentioned is prob. better for that. But for building cardio I know they are great.

search for a book called "Ready Set Go Fitness" by Phil Campbell. He's a track and field coach at a big US college. He has a system called sprint 8 that is similar to tabatas but focuses on sprinting.

Ive been thinking about going to see a nutritionist. Do you guys think a normal nutritionist is fine or does it need to be a sports nutritionist.

No it's all about getting your heart into the fat burning mode. Anything as strenuous as hill running and your body will shift to using stored carbs for energy (glycogen), rather than using fat.
Intervals maybe your best bet. Short sprints etc..
