That just sounds like a nightmare. Oh man, they just heard a pop going backwards. Ouch. I've been around when guys have blown out knees but achiles supposedly has a very bad sound and I can't imagine how much pain he was in. Can't blame Chagaev for that. Oh man I hate these injury stories so much.
It sounds like a whip...and yes this is really bad luck for Chagaev...CC back(haven't said that in a long time...)
Re: The most delicate HW titlist Injured AGAIN
Pity was looking forward to the rematch. 1st fight wasn't exciting but tactically intriguing.

You are right...this sux big time...
More bad luck for Chagaev!
WBA champion tears Achilles tendon in left foot during last sparring; WBA middleweight champion Felix Sturm will now headline July 5 card
The much anticipated rematch between WBA heavyweight champion Ruslan Chagaev and Nikolai Valuev unfortunately cannot take place on July 5.
This afternoon, in his next-to-last round of sparring, Chagaev suffered a serious injury.
"He tried to step back with his left foot and I heard a "bang," said trainer Michael Timm. "At that moment, I already feared the worst."
Chagaev was immediately transported to the St. George General Hospital in Hamburg, where an MRI revealed a complete tear of the Achilles tendon. An operation is unavoidable. According to the treating doctors, Dr. Ehnert and Dr. Eggers, this will take place on Monday.
"Even though this is a bad injury, there is a positive note," said Dr. Michael Ehnert. Because the tendon has not torn directly above the heel bone, but almost concentric, a faster healing process is possible."
With this diagnosis, all involved parties are sure that Chagaev can return to the ring by the end of this year.
The champion was stunned and near tears. "It is the worst disappointment of my sporting career," said Chagaev. "But, I'll come back!"
It is the second time the Chagaev-Valuev rematch was postponed. They were originally scheduled to fight on May 31st, but the bout was pushed back to July 5th after Chagaev came down with an illness and was forced to break off sparring.
The July 5th "Universum Champions Night" event in Halle/Westfalen, originally billed as "Night of Rematches" has now become "Night of the Rematch" headlined by Part II of world champion Felix Sturm (29-2-1, 13 KOs) against Randy Griffin (24-1-3, 12 KOs) for the WBA middleweight title.

Re: The most delicate HW titlist Injured AGAIN
WOW how much money do u think this guy cost...lol
i mean the promoters and stuff are basically watching over him carefully hoping he'll bring in millions but thats backed up twice....
Ruslan has no income (atleast not from boxing) and a hell of alot of expenses....accouting 101 this basically means hes in trouble
hopefully the promoters back him up
Re: The most delicate HW titlist Injured AGAIN
Just heard about this....really sucks, i damn near feel bad for the guy. What an odd injury.

If Chagaev tore his Achilles, then he's likely done for good.

Really...seem that the people around Chagaev and Chagaev himself are quite optimistic...

I see the report but Chagaev could have lost both of his arms in a car accident and Dr. Michael Ehnert could say what he wants and put a positive spin on Chagaev's recovery. It doesn't mean it's gonna happen.
If Chagaev really did SEVER his Achillies then he's done, either way you look at it.
He could do the smart thing and retire, or he try and come back......................... and lose to every C level fighter (and better) that he fights enroute to a very early retirement.
