Re: Larry Merchant...Dangerous!!
honestly compared to the rest of the hbo cast larry is the best
and my favorite commentator
Re: Larry Merchant...Dangerous!!
Can't stand the prick. His little 'hehe' laugh makes me wish someone would take advantage of the gun laws in the US. Can't stand the way he always seemed to be trying to get on ODLH's dick (even though I like Oscar) and his 'I'm more important than the fighters' post fight interviews.
Re: Larry Merchant...Dangerous!!
has larry always been old, he must of been born looking a hundred yrs old
Re: Larry Merchant...Dangerous!!
Arrogant, obnoxious, bias...call him what ever you want but fact is the guy is a legend as far as commentators go....without him many of HBO broadcast would have never been the same....You may not agree with him all the time and I certainly don't...
BUT....
The man calls it how he see's it...maybe not how others do but as he does.....Honest to a fault but again the man is honest...there are a ton of ass kissers in this game who say stuff just because they are trying to please someone..
Larry is not one of those men
If for nothing else you have to respect him for that
Re: Larry Merchant...Dangerous!!
He certainly is in love with some of the guys. He misleads a lot of fans, and his half truths turn things plainly into lies. IF you want honest truth I think Max Kellerman is the best for that, he calls it like it is, and he does so without bias. He actually has attained knowledge of the sport, probably has boxed a bit. Merchant fails as a wordsmith, he fails as a knowledgable person in the sport, and he fails as a commentator.

Re: Larry Merchant...Dangerous!!
I'd take Merchant far above Lampley.Merchant is exactly what you see.An older breed from yesteryear,a cynical crab at times, awkward when he spins into forced quippy stories,...but you'll have little doubt where he stands weather you agree or not.Lamply comes across as a pure company man towing the line and consistently calls invisible punches from the favorite while over looking the 'other' guys positives.Yells, barks and likes to hear himself recite a thesaurus at noisome.Maybe a bit harsh, but maybe my least fav blow by blow guy of all time,maybe:-X?
Re: Larry Merchant...Dangerous!!
He is HBO boxing as far as im concerned. It would not be the same without him.I enjoy his drunken metaphors....How bout Lampley-Merchant 24/7?? ;D

The man is so gol-durn insensitive. Ignorant. Priceless.

LMAO!
This little puzzy was crying because he knew Antonio Margarito was waiting for his arse. Antonio Margarito was the real reason Floyd retired.

Capped! It will dull HBO to the max with him gone. Actually a lot of the naysayers secretly hope he continues on...Right?
Reps on the way DaxxKahn! ... once the "spread around" notice is lifted.

That's Larry in a nutshell. I used to hate Larry but for some reason I started to turn. I think it was his ability to not "pull any punches" during his interviews.
