Had he ever met an elite fighter at 147 (Cotto, Margarito, Clottey), he would have been annihilated. At 140, he beat Kostya Tszyu in a fight I've never liked due to Hatton's mauling style, and the fact he got away with things he would've never gotten away with anywhere else. His KO of Castillo was impressive, in that it was a one-punch body shot. But other than that, his resume has never said top 10 p4p to me.
Mayweather is better than Cotto, Marg and Clottey all put together. So how can you say "Had he ever met an elite fighter at 147"?
Are you on "crack"? Mayweather's elite... just not at 147. What part of that don't you understand? This is boxing. You can be great at one weight and not at another. Again... Hatton never met an elite 147-pound fighter.
He fought and outpointed the linear undisputed world welterweight champion in Carlos Baldimor and defeated the previous undisputed world welterweight champion in Zab Judah what more do you want :)

At thought at first, Ricky was paralized from neck down. But thank god nothing serious happened. Hatton was already out before he violently slammed the back of his head on the canvas. It was very similar to Roy Jones KO.

C'mon Bilbo... I'll give Floyd all the props you want. The guy's an ATG, and has done remarkable things in boxing. But that still doesn't take away the fact that he's in over his head against the elites at 147. The fact that he has carefully avoided the likes of Margarito, Mosley, and Cotto should give you SOME inkling about what I'm talking about.
Re: Pacquiao KO of Hatton, most devestating since Hearns-Duran
To get back on topic, was a sick, sick KO. Ricky was still well into lala land when they had already pulled his gumshield and were rolling him on his side in case his tongue was down his throat. Scary stuff...
Was good to see him on his feet, gettin the news, "Ya dude. you're in Vegas, just got KTFO!" lol
Glad he is ok.

Mayweather is way better than any of them at 147. Hell he moved upto 154 and beat a good ODLH there. Yes the same Oscar that Tito stole a decision from and also Mosley second time round who has just destroyed Margarito who destroyed Cotto. Your the one who is on crack!
Re: Pacquiao KO of Hatton, most devestating since Hearns-Duran
Well all i got to say is i really question Hattons chin really i mean Pac is not a one punch kinda of power knock out artist and he took him out fast. Then there was the fact he got koed by Mayweather who is not power puncher either. I mean look Pac was landing at will on Oscar and he could not even knock him out and he was hitting him so much it was bad.
Re: Pacquiao KO of Hatton, most devestating since Hearns-Duran
Well Rjj i dont think Mayweather was really not much better then Mosley at the weight and still think if he came back it would be a close fight to. As for the Dela Hoya win not sure how much water that really holds anymore because he looked pretty bad in his last times out could be because of weight but maybe he didnt really have it anymore after the Vargas fight because he really didnt seem the same after it but who knows how much he really had left in the tank tell you the truth.

You're funny, kid. "Way better than any of them at 147" eh? You sound like a blind, PBF nut-hugger. Your logic makes no sense, but what else to expect? Get back to me when you get your head out of Floyd's ass, will you?
Re: Pacquiao KO of Hatton, most devestating since Hearns-Duran
I was reading The Ring online earlier and found this opinion on Hatton after last night's events
Quote:
while Hatton was an accomplished champion, he never approached greatness in his career.
I think thats pretty spot on - though he did approach greatness in the way he took on two p4p kings, just never got over that hurdle.
'never achieved 'would be a better phrase

I still think Hatton can Win Amir

I think you need a physics lesson. If Hatton had stood off Pac and just kept his guard up he would have eaten leather all night the same way DLH did. But he lunged in in the same naive fashion he did against Mayweather, instead of using his 'newly acquired skills' to box his way in and rough Pac up. The reason for the ferocity and power of the KO is simple: the incredible speed at which Pac through the punch + the force of Hatton's own momentum carrying him into the punch = KO power. It's the equivalent of launching your face at a large doorknob. You could see after the first round the flurries had already reddened Hatton's face, and it would have ended up like DLH's had the fight gone on. Really disappointed with Hatton - he didn't give himself a chance. On the other hand, I don't begrudge Pac the win, because he is a similar character to Hatton, only more dedicated to the sport. He also never made things personal, and showed great respect to Hatton at all times. I sincerely hope he knocks PBF right out of the ring, though my gut feeling is Floyd will outbox him.

How can such a small man generate such awsome power.
Lets not get carried away here, there's been plenty of other KO's as good as Hatton/Pacquiao since Duran/Hearns. Michael Nunn vs Sumbu Kalambay comes to mind straight away.

Well to give the other side of the argument,Pac has won 2 of his last 3 with a one punch KO so I think you are wrong in what you are saying.:lickish:

Ask your avrage British sports fan who is Michael Nunn or Sumbu Kalambay you will get a blank look.
Ask them who is Hearns or Duran you will get a different answer.

I did read the thread title and your first post, and you said it was the best KO since Roberto Duran vs Thomas Hearns at the high level right ? Michael Nunn, Sumbu Kalambay, were top level fighters.
I don't get what your saying so just because armchair fans wouldn't of heard of Michael Nunn, Sumbu Kalambay, it doesn't count ?
Any person that follow's boxing would know who they are, and since it earned the first ever KO of the year. I would say it is a pretty well known amongst proper boxing fans.
And it was even more shocking because Sumbu Kalambay had a world class chin, and he had beaten the likes of Herol Graham, Iran Barkley, Steve Collins, Mike McCallum.
And also add to the fact that Michael Nunn wasn't known as a big puncher was even more shocking, and i'd say it was even more shocking and brutal than Manny Pacquiao vs Ricky Hatton was.
