Read my original post. I'm joining the Police or going to Uni next yr so it wont be forever.
And guys I think your getting a little confused. It will be for an indoor swimming pool I wont be at any beaches (There's aren't even any beaches in Liverpool anyways LOL).
Would still be just as good though and less work involved ;D

Short term job then fair enough. At your age it sounds alright. Do it! ;D
Re: Looking at becoming a qualified lifeguard..
I recently went on holiday to Jaimaca. On the first morning i went down to the beautiful swimming pool.
I asked the lifeguard "What's the water like?"
He replied "lukewarm"
So i jumped in and it was cold as fuck!
I said to the lifeguard, "you twat, the water's fucking freezing!"
He replied "well it lukewarm to me..!"

At an indoor pool in Britain, I'm afraid you might not see fine girls in bikinis, but probably school groups & middle-aged to elderly ladies out for a swim :-\

Same holds true here. Last year I worked at overcoming my fear of water by going to the YMCA and swimming. Prob. 90% of the people in the pool were over 60, and largely female. I told them what I was doing. Was kinda cute, and humbling, "Don't be such a chicken shit, sonny, come to the deep end." :p
It did help tho.

Unfortunately with climate change, the waters off Britain will become warmer and infested with great white sharks. Not doubt if you are lifeguarding at the beach, you will have to fend off a great white on order to save a damsel in distress. ;)
Sounds like a good idea bud. It's never wrong to have additional qualifications in other professions, it'll give you something to fall back on if you ever need it.
