Cotto would probably bust Pac up even now. It's interesting hearing all this talk about Cotto being past his best because I really don't think he is. I would really like to see Manny walk through half a dozen Cotto body shots unscathed.
Bring it on, I say. I'm getting sick of the little midget and his big mouthed trainer.
How would you call Ricky Hatton (a giant?), and Floyd Mayweather Sr. (Meek?)
Re: Pacquiao Orders Arum To Make Cotto Bout, Nov. 14
If PacMan fights cotto at 147 and "IF" he wins, it will not eliminate the naysayers from pining excuses, alibis and reasons.
Even if pacquiao will fight at heavyweight and wins, it's still the same, in fact it could even become worse. Those who are now green with envy..will probably become purple....with rage....

Team Cotto wants 145... Team PAC wants 143... I'm guessing they can settle the weight issue in the middle... I'm also guessing Team Cotto will happily accept a 60/40 purse split in favor of PAC...

Marvin Hagler to all the guys who challenged him.
I have always loved this quote. If Pacman wants Cotto's title and belts fight him at his best which is 147. A catchweight is a farce, especially if it's for any titles.

I told you guys before Cotto ever fought Clottey that Pacquiao would beat him, but people always blame it on my being a biased fan, the fact is that Pacquiao is too fast, hits too hard, and Cotto isn't good enough defensively to deal with his attack. Pacquiao will keep a distance too great for Cotto to cover quick enough, and he will land that cross like he did against Oscar, and he will stay away from that left hook.

Make no mistake though Cotto had poblems against granite chinned pressure punchers in Big Cheat'O and Clottey, PBF isnt a big puncher. Go ahead Floyd.
How the hell is Mayweather going to setup a fight with Cotto when he has a signed contract still pending with Marquez? Even if he managed to escape the fight with Marquez, by the time Mayweather has his injury story all worked out Cotto probably won't even be available. He's going to have to wait for the outcome of Cotto's next fight to face Cotto. The next possible fight for Mayweather would be Mosley at that point since he's just been waiting for a mega partner. It's getting to be a bit long for Mosley to be inactive waiting. When is he going to get hit with a mandatory defense?
I also see Marquez going after Mayweather ribs now because he comes back when? two months...? I can't see Mayweather doing exercises to toughen up the ribs.... so he's goto protect them. (getting abit ahead of myself here)

You biased fan, you! ;D
I think this will be a decent fight. It's hard to count out Pac considering recent form. Having said that, Hatton did fight like someone with serious mental impairment. I have seldom seen such a bizarre approach to a fight of that magnitude. And it was more than a little bit dissapointing.
Pac is quick and somewhat elusive. But I would venture that Cotto is more technically sound than Hatton and hits a fair bit harder. A few of those Cotto leads land on Pac and we might well see Pac in for a rough night. It works both ways though. Pacs speed would obviously cause some problems for Cotto too.
I would prefer Mosley to be given a chance, but this comes a close second.

I disagree. This is the fight I most wanted to see because out of the 3, this will actually be the most exciting fight to watch. I knew though, that after Cotto putting in a close performance Manny would pick this fight. If Cotto had stopped Clottey impressively, no way Manny would have taken that fight.

Of course, PAC was watching if Clottey did enough "softening" on Cotto... PAC was convinced and instructed Arum to make the fight with Cotto... (joke) :lolhaha:

I didn't say he was looking for Clottey to soften him up. I'm saying he was looking for signs that Cotto's in ring performance is slipping. Thats not to say that it is though.

Agreed. People are underestimating Cotto on the back of a tough fight marred by a butt induced gash. People are saying he is done when in fact he should be commended for adapting and finding a way through. He could have quit earlier and taken a points decision. But instead roughed it out.

No catch weights. Many fans really don't like that catch weight thing. If Pacman can't fight someone at their best, then just don't fight. I sure wonder if Roberto Duran ever had a catch weight clause in his contract against Hearns, Leonard, Hagler? And considering he was about the same height and build as Pacman.
