Guys who work for the company I work for spend 10 hour night shifts underground, manually handling track and ballast down the escalators (which are off), cutting up the tracks with welding gear, relaying the ballast and rewelding new track down there. They do all this with full protective gear on, including respirators.
No ventilation, dusty, mosquitos, rats and using hot lights.
It was 51 degrees centigrade down there last night
That's brutal
Stop complaining, it is so rare to have a hot day that we should appreciate it when it comes.
Been shite here so far (during this 'heatwave' anyway)... it's about 25c... which would be perfect... if the fucking sun was out...the air pressure is ridiculously high.
If it's a boiling hot day, but it's crisp and clear and the sun is out it can be as hot as it wants for me... it's when it's close that I hate it.
We had some nice days in a row a few weeks ago and the odd couple here and there since... already more than last year and the year before it combined so I guess I can't complain too much... would like a bit more though... ;D
Sure is hot today.
I'm sweating like Michael Jackson's physician.
Lol
Fuck me, This week has been hotter than Gary Glitter's hard drive!!
Hot today ...... I'm sweating like Diane Abbott at a maths exam
94' in the shade. Nothing like wearing black and sweating like the hog nearest the slaughterhouse door and then it dries. You get home and realize you've been walking around with the white silhouette of a deformed ghost covering you're back :p. Seriously need to get that car a/c fixed.
btw if you want total chaos and society breakdown..it won't be trucks on sidewalks or multiple Juans climbing a wall...it'll be brownouts and crashed electrical grids. We will turn on each other in no time.
Agree completely, our grid is very vulnerable, shit a squirrel took out almost the whole northeast years ago. It’s been very hot and humid in New England, mid to high 90’s with this humidity that just won’t go away. Thunderstorms with rain daily that make the humidity worse. As soon as u step outside you are covered in sweat. My poor cats can’t move and are completely miserable. Dehydration sets in every half hour. Shit I have a ride on lawnmower and even that seems like hard work in this heat. It’s been going on for a month with a couple breaks like a days worth during that time. I have to wear a jacket and gear at my weekend job, it gives me some protection from stitches n shitz by the time I get home I hop in the shower and don’t even touch the hot spigot.
Back to spics point, I’d really like to get some kind of generator. Our section of town is high priority when power goes out cause a mile down the road from me is a town where the minimum house price is around 700,000 with a state police barracks near by but we can still wait days. A massive failure of the grid would cause complete chaos. More so in the cities but for everyone. They say China and Russia could knock us out but I’m sure we would make life just as bad for them
