This can't be anything more than gamesmanship.
I don't believe this article for second.
Odd thing to say. Sucks either way for me because I won't be able to this fight!!!
I thnk there are 2 possibilities to Beristain's crazy comments either
A) They're trying to give Floyd yet another distraction to deal with (Police searching his home, Roger's case, Floyd Sr possibly coming in as trainer)
B) They're admitting defeat and thereby decreasing the value of a Floyd victory and setting up Juan's move back to a lower weight class
C) Most likely someone made this up
Look at these pics of Marquez he looks huge :: Golden Boy Promotions Inc. ::
Slip of the tongue? Complete fabrication? I don't see the purpose otherwise - Floyd will train just as hard either way.
Maybe he's just trying to psyche up JMM...what's a pro like Juan going to do when he hears his trainer slag him off like that? He's going to step his game up!
For whatever reason Nacho said that he said it in hopes of getting something done.
I think Floyd gets beaten by JMM...he had a tough go with Jose Luis Castillo years ago and since then he hasn't fought any Mexican fighters who have their own little set of boxing tendencies. Also I doubt Floyd has ever had to lose weight like he's going to have to for this fight...it's 6-7 pounds more but that can be a big difference especially as age catches up with you.
Ha ha this is staged worse than the stupid floyd wrestling crap he does. I actually feel a bit for marquez, i think he is an awesome fighter in a fight that really isn't all that fair....look nacho you're trying mind tricks on a guy who is one big mind trip. I think marquez is being asked to do to much, nacho isn't telling us nothing we dont' already know. Your guy is smaller, slower, go down the list, i doubt there is more than maybe one area where marquez beats him on paper. We're being all hyped up and fightnight we'll all come back down as usual. Floyd is not fighting someone especially after a layoff that he isn't 120% positive he can beat. Floyd's real job is trying to get that cash out of our wallets convincing us marquez can win. A guy who can't beat chris john isn't beating mayweather. Would be nice though. But so would the lottery, i think the chances of either are about the same
I believe this is a ploy. Wanting Mayweather to believe what usually comes with bulking up improperly. No trainer with half a brain would give a disadvantage out like that if it were true. Marquez is probably shockingly bulked up with his speed intact. No mater how hard a fighter is known to train when you know your opponent, even a little, you naturally have expectations in the ring. They are attempting to skewer those expectations.
Bulking up or not.Mayweather would have always been the faster of the two when compared.I'm not sure what his motives are for putting it out there, could be tounge in cheek but I think Marquez at his age and wear and tear will be slowed and he is not a Welterweight, his speed of counter, side to side movement has already been backseated for a more aggresive though still very accurate pattern over last few fights. He looks all buffed up and I think once they are facing off ring center people will do a double take at the size difference.But...
the fights happening and while I think Mayweather has every advantage on paper he lacks Marquezs confidence, passion and fighters mentality.Screw it,I think Mayweather has doubts and pick Marquez to exploit them for a win :-X.
This has to be just mind games. Nobody in there right mind would say that if it were true, theres no advantage to it?
no surprise here. this is true, floyd much faster than marquez.
Floyd is a smarter and better boxer than he was when that fight happened and he also had a messed up shoulder in that fight and won the rematch clearly.
I doubt losing weight will make a difference hes always in shape and is 32 while JMM is 36 and moving up to a weight class hes never fought in.
