Re: How do judges score fights in EUrope?
1. I don’t agree with the title of this thread, $hit happens everywhere.
2. There are four criteria in scoring fights:
- Clean punching
- Effective aggression
- Ring generalship
- Defense
(me too I hope this help)
I believe some of the judges don’t care to much about clean punching; Dirrell fought like a :chick07mj8:, but in the end he land a lot more clean punches.
3. I know style makes fights, but if FRoch and Dirrell will fight like yesterday in their next bout then it will be a walk in the park for Abraham and Kessler.
Re: How do judges score fights in EUrope?
There is an old adage... You have to go and "WIN" a title off a champion, not run away from him and try and steal rounds and then when he does catch upto you hold on for dear life.
What made me laugh is when I heard this dick compares himself to a young Roy Jones?? WTF?? Roy Jones used to be a very elusive fighter yes, but he used to set up great traps and then fire 7,8,9,10 punch combo's and they were big power shots, not gay jabs!
I actually had Dirrell win the fight "just" but I wasn't at all suprised by the decision and I thought it served Dirrell right for not throwing any real punches.
And next time he wants to compare himself to someone, he shouldn't choose an ATG that would still destroy him in his 40's!

At most you could give Froch 3 rounds.
LOL fuck off, do you really think he came and beat the title off of Froch?
Unreal!
Re: How do judges score fights in EUrope?
Yeah dirrel looked clumsy and off balance all night don't really have a problem with the decision only thing was the the stupid point deduction ... but dirrel has super weak legs which might be why even though landed flush on froch he never really hurt him. Dirrel has no power, had a young Roy jones connected with a few of the rights Dirrel landed, Froch would have been snoring inside of 5...
I felt like this tourney was too soon for both the Andre-s they're too green.

Styles do indeed make fights but, obviously, Kessler won't fight like Dirrell and if Andre had been fighting Bhop last night he'd have looked just as bad as Froch.
Kessler will stand and fight, and his superior defense should allow him a comfortable UD or late KO.
Dirrell will now make Abrham look bad, and I really hope 'ol double A catches the coward smack on the chin.
Re: How do judges score fights in EUrope?
I had Dirrell winning it by 2 rounds. But he has no real room to complain, he needed to do more. A throughly unsatisfing fight. If it was for a vacant title then i could see why Dirrell would feel hard done by, but the fact is it was for Froch's belt, so the decision is understandable.
My friend, who is a very casual fan, thought Dirrell was robbed, but he doesn't understand certain boxing conventions, such as in very even rounds the benefit should go to the aggressor, and that you need to take the title from the champ, not steal it. Then again perhaps the win should go to the guy that does better, regardless of who has the belt.
Anyway, i think Dirrell has a big future, he can rectify the mistakes from last night as they werent due to a lack of talent.

Well yes perhaps the win SHOULD go to the guy that does better, but Dirrell knows that when your trying to win a title you almost always need to do a bit more than other guy and when you are not the aggressor in the champs hometown you really need to totally outclass him and that he did not do!

So we pretty much agree in Froch case; don’t to get me wrong, I’m not a hater but Carl looked to me like a street fighter and Kessler proved a few years ago what he can do against guys with such a poor defense, he beat Andrade (who has a better work rate) 12 rounds by 12.
I agree Dirrell has a cowardly style.
