...so I'm out of line in saying that David Haye (given his performance vs Valuev) is not "Bringing Boxing Back"???
I'm sorry, the guy ran his mouth before the fight saying how "The heavyweights are boring, the heavyweights need excitement, BLAH BLAH BLAH BLAH BLAH" and he puts out that performance (broken hand or not) and then his fans expect everyone else to respect that piece of shit?!?!?! He doesn't know the meaning of the word OUTSIDE the ring, he certainly showed enough respect for Valuev's power IN the ring.
Manny Pacquiao and Floyd Mayweather are HUGE PPV draws while David Haye is a regional celebrity and that is a FACT.
Oh but I am soooo sorry, I extend my heartfelt appologies to David Haye and all his little fans, I should never have spoken evil of such a marvelous fighter :vd:
But Haye did 1m PPV sales for his last fight, so regardless of where it is, he's a PPV draw. They print money over here too you know.
He's nowhere near the star that they are yet, but he's at a very different point in his career. They're both a fight or two away from retirement. Is he a bigger star than Pacquiao after beating Barrera or Mayweather after beating Castillo? I'd argue that by virtue of his weightclass he is.
Golden Boy would not have had him out before the Pacquiao-Cotto fight if they didn't think he was going to be a success.
Re: Boxing is back big time.
Manny Pacquiao and Floyd Mayweather are known by your average everyday Joe Sixpack on the street....meanwhile David Haye would likely be met with the response "Who?".
Sorry I just don't see any reason to compare David Haye with Floyd and Manny it's ridiculous UNLESS you're talking about boxing in England and if that's the case wouldn't the fighters in that back and forth fight the other week deserve a mention??? I cannot recall their names.

The world exists outside America. You started complaining about RJJ, but the fact is Haye has become huge over the past week. He's on the cover of everything, we've had news crews down at my gym all week about him.
I clearly was talking about Britain, when I said 'they print money over here too'. I agree Pac & PBF are far bigger stars, probably even over here, but look at the differing stages of their career. Also 1m people bought his PPV against Valuev, can you not see that as positive for boxing? Even if it is in little old England.

To say there is about 5 times less people in the UK to america I think 1 million PPV sales is very impressive, but Lyle doesn't think it is so it mustn't be! I wonder if Klitschko sold that many PPV's in the UK whether that would be impressive??
Re: Boxing is back big time.
Like him or not, if the fight with a Klitshco gets made, it will be THE BIGGEST heavyweight fight for many years.
Worldwide PPV will be one of the biggest, if not the biggest, in heavyweight history. Most the PPV buyers will be from Europe, but thats only because the US doesn't have any decent heavyweights to catch their attention.
The nail was hit perfectly on the head, Haye is in a very different stage of his career. Plus, what more can he do to impress people? He unified a division, then moved up a weight and began calling out the best fighters in that weight. He's now beaten one of them and only has 2 left to beat. You cannot argue with what he is doing. He is making a name for himself (although often goes about it by running his mouth)
Plus the Valuev fight, Holyfield did the same approach, just not as good and got a pat on the back for a good effort. Haye did it and won, but gets no credit.
Mayweather took a similar approach against Marquez (similar not the same) but gets labeled as the best ever. Counter punching and in out tactics were the olny way to beat a guy like that

This post got me wondering. What is the biggest HW PPV in history? Is it Lewis-Tyson?

Thank you Lyle.
Yeah Haye Valuev is a much milder version though. Some people were actually being bored to death rather than just sleep in Wlad-Ibragimov!
Re: Boxing is back big time.
Lyle pack it in you daft cunt or Im going to dig up that audio clip of your answerphone message ;D
Re: Boxing is back big time.
dude Lyle give it a rest, i can't stand Haye yet i'm not even bitching about the dude as much as you do, people can't deny that the dude can talk shit with the best of them, making him a popular fighter, he's getting plenty of attention on a international level, does that mean he's a great fighter? no, but he is still getting buzz from fans
on a flipside, people can't really bash the Klitschko's either seeing how Vitali Vs Arreola got a good amount of attention, and that's pretty rare feat in itself for a HW title fight nowadays, but yea i don't think that Haye/Valuev or Pacquiao/Cotto are the only fights to bring boxing back to the mainstream, i go more with Cutmemick, DLH/Mayweather was everywhere leading up to the fight, same goes for Mayweather/Marquez, you were hearing bout piss drinking everywhere leading up to the fight lol
Re: Boxing is back big time.
OK, I guess you have free reign to compare David Haye to Jesus if you like fellas, have fun with all that.
You motherfuckers are getting on my last nerve "Oh Lyle stop it, I'm tired of everytime someone wants to legitimately compare David Haye to the second coming of Mike Tyson or Jack Dempsey you have to go and try to correct them! GOD Lyle that gets so annoying what with you trying to base your arguments in reality...why don't you just give it a rest already"....why don't you guys grow the fuck up?
Have fun worshipping David Haye, I will vow right GOD DAMN now not to post anything about him even if I am specifically asked, that's how fed up I am with all of your bullshit.....I will not mention him until after only either Wlad or Vitali have beaten him, not if Ruiz beats him, not if he wins the Nobel Peace Prize, not if he cures cancer, only if Wlad or Vitali beats him, and I'll throw this in there only if they stop him in the fight, decisions don't count and when that day comes you guys are going to hate life because I'll hound every last fucking one of you about YOUR BOY losing until your eyes bleed.
