They're not the ones who have to be in the ring with a possible PED cheat. Boxing is dangerous enough. It needs to make sure every fighter is natural. This passive approach is bull and will not be taken the right way because money is always first. Sports don't want their stars suspended or banned and are willing to overlook plenty to do so. Congress had to step in to get baseball to even ban steroids in 2003, an illegal product to begin with. What is right has little value if it is not popular.
true .... carl lewis tested positive shortly before the ben johnson scandel which handed him the gold.... i guess he was a much more neccesary star than johnson
The thing is, steroids weren't illegal when both athletes took them. Maybe they were banned substances by Olympic standards, though.
not in terms of general public usage you mean ? they were definatley illegal in sports....
thing is the word 'steroid' covers so many different drugs... some are illegal some arent.... some stuff used to be illegal and now isnt... ripped fuel is one example i think
there are also supplements used now that will probably one day turn out to be banned so hard to say what was and wasnt illegal at the time
Re: The harsh reality of what Pacquiao was trying to do... before Floyd called him ou
EPO, HGH, or some other designer steroid that doesn't stay in your blood for past 72 hours. Whatever. The specific substance doesn't matter.
The most of important part of this thread, is to highlight the fact that using the drug during training will give you an unfair advantage on the fight night. It doesn't need to be in your system on fight night (or on other fixed date blood tests) to give you a seriously unfair advantage against a clean fighter.
Olympic style random testing prevents this. I can't see why so many people are defending Manny for this. If the roles where reversed, and it was Floyd trying to prevent any possibility of being tested fairly, every fight forum on the internet would crash due to the number of people posting about it.
Manny shouldn't be allowed to cheat, just because he has convinced the general public he is a humble likable guy.

Point #3: it takes anywhere from 12 hours to 48 hours (at most 72 hours) for discontinuing HGH use for it not to show up in blood tests.
Point #4: Pacquiao stated that agreeing to 3 blood tests (when first signing the fight, then 30 days before, then immediately after the fight). He claimed that this is sufficient to prove he is clean. It is not.

If that's the case then the NSAC should just microcheck Manny's body for multiple needle scars, just like what the crime experts do with junkies.

why not just take a blood test .... its easier and quicker than a full body check
also what is to stop manny refusing this also ?
the most important fact being that.... this isnt sumat the NSAC do

I disagree. I'm just basing on the thread starter's claim here with his 30+ steroid shots in a row theory. If Manny has been or will be doing that, then a full body check process is easier and quicker.

a blood test takes a very short amount of time, a few seconds, a full body check will take longer if done correctly.... also thats assuming he is using an injectable form.... oral forms are available for most drugs so that maybe shouldnt be ruled out
and if they did find needle marks... what does that prove? could be anything being injected ... doesnt give the name of said drug... if it is illegal or not and can be argued to be something innocent easilly enough

The Congressman really comes across like a congressman. Someone who is willing to turn a blind eye to any possible form of corruption and make feeble excuses to try and justify getting away with it. Whatever happened to integrity and wanting what is best for the sport and giving the public what they want?

see, this is where a lot of people are mixed up. camp mayweather doesnt want A blood test. they want random blood tests!meaning they could wake u up late at night to take it or even take it when manny is walking to the ring. manny never refused a blood test. he refuses the random testing. im not defending that decision of his. im just clarifying what seems to be confusing a lot of people here.

I don't think anyone is mixed up. We all know what a random test involves and that's what we all think is neccessary. A random test only needs to take place a few times and at selected moments by the testers. It unlikely they will wake him up at 4am on the night before the fight. Manny will only be sleeping 8 hours out of 24. There should be NO issues with wanting any tests outside of sleeping hours. I agree that sleep should be respected, but outside of that I really see no problem. The test needs to be random and random in terms of actual days selected.
