Basically Mosley hit him with his best shot and he somehow stayed upright and rode out the round.
That alone can beat a fighter mentally ;)

Shane hit Margarito with bigger shots than that, and repeatedly. The fact that Tony was never hurt until the 8th round didn't seem to discourage Shane then.
....Margarito was easier to hit. It may have been give and take until Shane hurt him but all Shane was doing after the 2nd was taking a beating.
I thought Shane might have 1 last hurrah in him for the Championship rounds like he did vs Mayorga but once again it was vs a guy that was easy to find and wasn't countering sharply
I don't ever remember Floyd being hit like he was hit in the second. He was definitely in trouble after that shot, so he had to hang on. He really impressed me with how he came back from that, and i think Mosely just worked himself out of his game plan. In one of the 24/7 episodes i think it's Roger Mayweather who said Mosely would be very jittery in his motions, and sure enough he was. He was just searching and searching for a opening but didn't want to get countered so he just looked like his arms were having siezures. My hats off to Floyd, great fight.
I thought he was more buzzed against Corley to be honest.
Watch the round again. Floyd was stunned mentally more than physically. He was stunned thus because of his inability to detect and evade that punch. If you look at his face throughout, you do not see any signs of loss of awareness and position as a result of a hard punch. Yes he was hurt, but 90% of that hurt was surprise and 10% was physical.
Look at Floyd's adjustment from the 3rd round. He began giving Mosely the shoulder. That shoulder protects him from that half over hand right cross that follows a jab. That was Mosely's preferred stock in his tangle with Margarito. It became a white elephant after Floyd measured its range, and made allowance for it. ;D
I thought this was clearly the worst he's even been hurt.
On the whole I don't know exactly what to make of last night. It was a brilliant performance in some ways and Floyd can make guys look old cause of just how good he really is but ffs Mosley was tired at the end of the second round. And he didn't go that nuts when he hurt him. Floyd in a lot of fights has done a great job of wearing a fighter out because throwing and missing tires a guy out but Shane looked arm weary early in this fight. Not sure what to make of it.
Still Floyd is the best fighter in the world IMO. But Pacquaio is a bigger test than Shane and I've said that for a while.
Gotta wonder if Floyd was right. Was it the PED's keeping Mosley young? Is that the reason Mosley couldn't pull the trigger? Even if PED's didn't give him an advantage physically was the physiological effect enough to for Mosley to doubt himself? For what ever reason the Mosley that fought Margarito wasn't there last night.
give me a fucking break, everytime shane tried to get off he was either countered or beaten to the punch thats why he looked lost, he couldn't get anything off.
Also Mayweather was stunned, but not that badly. People making way too big of a deal out of this. IMO Corley stunned him just as badly, but Oscar who hit Floyd flush with a left hook at the end of their fight didn't even phase Floyd. Sure Floyd covered up, but once that barrage was done Floyd adapted like he did against Judah and dominated.
mosley was heavily breathing after round 2 and surprisingly he never got a second wind.
It was a really good fight. I thought Shane really landed twice with shots that would have finished a lesser fighter. The right he caught Floyd with later on was just as good a punch as the left hook that wrecked Mayorga. Floys was definitely hurt (and didnt try to deny it at the post fight interview)
The crux of the fight, I thought, was that Shane just couldnt belive the speed and accuracy of Floyd's counterpunching. When you are fighting a guy that punishes you every time you make a tiny mistake, you get nervous pulling the trigger. Shane resorted to over-feinting to try and get a reaction from Floyd, but his reflexes were uncanny and Shane ended up stiff and awkward (who would have ever thought that?) He ran out of gas because of that and was in survival mode from the 8th onward.
could the gloves mattered in those 2 big shots? mosley was not able to wear his preferred gloves, the cleto reyes (puncher's gloves). team mayweather required mosley to wear the grant brand of gloves.
also after the fight, i didn't see any noticeable lumps or cuts on mosley's face even after absorbing several clean shots from mayweather. pillow gloves?
