Be that as it may Daxx, I've got to disagree with the direction Teddy is taking Povetkin. Sasha is 31 years old, a former Gold medalist, and has a pretty solid pro record of 20 (15 KO)-0-0, but the guy has gone from fighting a difficult Larry Donald, a game Chris Byrd, and a very tough Eddie Chambers to the likes of: Taurus Sykes, Jason Estrada, Leo Nolan, Javier Mora, and Teke Orah...and it's not as if he's fighting very often either (which was one of Teddy's original goals).
This heavyweight division may not have much in the way of challenges for guys like Wlad and Vitali, but it still has PLENTY of challenges out there for guys like Povetkin and I am just shocked Teddy hasn't wanted to test his fighter AT ALL. I get the whole "I don't want a Klitschko to ruin my fighter" mentality but Teke Oruh?!?!?! Who the fuck is that? I follow the division and had never heard of the guy! Why not fight a seasoned veteran fighter that can give him rounds? That's what he needs he needs some ring experience. Dig up Krasniqi or Lyakhovich I think they'd give him good work, Povetkin should at LEAST be working towards the European title....he could (should) beat Dimitrenko and that would be great practice for him.
I agree with this, I mean he won that tournament (over Byrd and Chambers (who had beat Brock)) all three of those guys got their shot. So okay maybe no go for a Klit yet, but someone of substance needs to be in the other corner. I also seem to recall (perhaps mistakingly) Atlas saying he wanted Povetkin to fight like an old school fighter every 2-3 months. So he's not getting the quality or quantity of training you would think someone needs to improve to the point of challenging Wlad. Meanwhile he is stagnating in a division that he should rightfully be in the top 5 of, other fighters are passing him by.

Oddly enough Mike Tyson AND Teddy Atlas agree that any fighter that is going to challenge a Klitschko had better be fighting 3-4 times a year.
Here's the guys Povetkin should consider for his next opponent even if he and Teddy just want to get solid work in: Timur Ibragimov, Albert Sosnowski, Sam Sexton, Derric Rossy, Fres Oquendo, Domonick Guinn, Jonathan Banks, Chazz Witherspoon, Sergi Lyakhovich, Luan Krasniqi, Oliver McCall, Shane Cameron.
I mean all those guys have experience, they have decent records, and in all honesty they are well below the quality of who Povetkin SHOULD be fighting which is top 10.
Chicken Little may be fighting Audley Harrison but even Audley is better than Teke Oruh. If Sasha keeps this up I may have to give him a little wussy nickname like the one I gave Chicken Little

I can understand your points on that...Shit I could be 100% wrong but trying to think positive and knowing how Teddy is I like to give the benefit of the doubt there and the ones I mentioned could be the only possible answer outside of just plain out WTF is wrong with these guys.....Use the lesser guys to perfect flaws on then move back up....Then again like mentioned he may go packing for the opener boutrs and never be heard from again...Only time will tell my friend
Re: Povetkin is so scared of Wlad that...
Nobody has more than a puncher's chance against either brother, they completely outmatch the competition at heavyweight. That being said I think Povetchkin has plenty of the top level heavyweight who aren't the brothers to fight.
What I can say is that these brothers, especially Wlad are extremely special talents, and they deserve far more credit than they have been given. Besides Mayweather and Pacquiao who has foughten and dominated as high of a level of opposition as Wlad has?
Re: Povetkin is so scared of Wlad that...
I'd like to see Povetkin take on Solis. Not sure the handlers of either would as they probably see both as being the potential future of HW boxing (which is a frightening thought), but both are former gold medallists from the same olympics, neither are in the best of shape but both have decent skills if they could just shed a bit of fat! The winner for me would then be ready to get the beating that the next level would bring them!
Re: Povetkin is so scared of Wlad that...
Why are people saying Povetkin isn't in good shape, some people are just built that way, I mean look at his output against Chambers.

Agreed some guys just are not chisled, we have this and like to see fighters looking cut to shreds but some guys just cant no matter how much they try....Others don't even need to be in some cases...
Not to mention the "M" word :-X...But guys like Roy Nelson and Cabbage Carrera are far from being the ideal looking fighters but both are in damn good shape
