Re: Have to give credit to Nonito Donaire
Is that really possible, Arce? Thats sick. If that happens someone should be arrested.
Re: Have to give credit to Nonito Donaire
I just hope both fighters( Donairre and Montiel ) doesnt have any accidents or injuries.
Montiel has proven himself to be a warrior. Nonito has shown what he has to offer.
This is a great fight. I dont see why people needs to be pessimistic about this fight.

No one is pessimistic if the fight happens. What quite a few people are pessimistic about is that when Doniare is about to fight some good opposition mysterious things happen and the fight isn't made.
And I have a feeling it will be the same and he won't fight Montiel because of something.
His last great win was against Darchinyan and that was 3 1/2 years ago.

My thoughts exactly. Montiel has proven he's more than ready to back his big talk when went into Japan and stopped it's great champion. All Donaire has done through out the years is pull out of big fights.
Re: Have to give credit to Nonito Donaire
there is no doubt nonito donaire has the skills to be a truly great fighter but since his upset win vs. darchinyan, he's been one of the most protected fighters in boxing. i mean, the guy continues to fight opponents much smaller than him it isn't even funny anymore. he needs to man up or shut the hell up. also, i find it very comical and outrageous when he beat manuel vargas, a jr. flyweight much smaller than him, he ran across the ring jumping with joy as if he just beat a great fighter.

The big fighta lined up for Donairre were the Japanese champions who are not interested in meeting Donairre because they dont recognize the IBF. No mystery in that.
Im not aware of these mysterious things that had happened. Please educate me.
I just hope that no fighter will have anymore vehicular accidents.

Found it quite hilarious that he refused to give up his IBF title and travel to Japan. But had no problem giving it up to face the 13-3 Rafael Concepcion.

NOt only that but the money is quite good from Japan fighting there. I forgot where I read it, but Montiel got something like 500k for fighting Hasegawa and this is a 118 pound fight. You ain't getting that kind of money fighting in the US on HBO or Showtime for the lower weights that's for sure.
So in trying to keep the useless IBF trinket Donaire also cost himself lucrative paydays and being able to get in with good competition.

LOL
Maybe you missed something or you're completely unaware when these things were taking place.
Nonito Donairre's Team was the one who offered the fight to the two Japanese champions thinking of unifying Flyweight . And the Japanese straight up told them that they wont fight him. I dont think the situation is hard to analyze mate.

Of course the Japanese would refuse it. The JBC doesn't recognize the IBF or WBO. So according to them it's not a unification match. And does it really matter about these meaningless trinkets? It's the fight itself that's important.
Either way you want to spin it, Donaire only has himself to blame for not fighting any good opposition in the last 3 1/2 years after beating Darchinyan.
Just watched, he ain't fighting Montiel in February. Something will come up from Donaire's side.

If having a dispute with your promoter is considered a fault then yes its his fault. IBF Belt or not the Japanese aint fighting Donairre they made it very clear thats a solid duck from the Japs

We dont have forum points e-money to bet on here so i think i'll just say it will happen.
Re: Have to give credit to Nonito Donaire
Donaire is too geeky to be p4p. :ears:
Re: Have to give credit to Nonito Donaire
Donaire and Montiel opted out of the Showtime tournament because the pay to fight eachother made it worth it. I'm confident they'll make this fight. The best boxers at that weight are all in the tournament (Mares, Agbecko, Yonnhy, Vic) so there really aren't that many good options besides eachother.
Re: Have to give credit to Nonito Donaire
if Donaire/Montiel happens i'll be ecstatic, i've been calling for this fight for a long time, and well me and PSL already agreed to a bet on the fight if it was to happen, but honestly i wouldn't hold my breathe, i think Donaire is happy fighting smaller guys and racking up easy wins for good pay than actually having meaningful fights, if the fight doesn't happen we know that Montiel isn't the one to blame

Yep. 3 months sig bet.
Looks like it's going to be on Feb. Donaire insists Montiel easy to hit . Donaire said he won’t stay away from the gym too long and will work extra hard for his showdown with Montiel in February.
