Well..... as expected, the silence from the Cotto haters (not detractors, mind you... but haters) is DEAFENING. So I'll take it upon myself to list a few of the harsh criticism leveled at Cotto before the fight:
1. Cotto wilts under pressure in the later rounds.
Well... I guess that one was put to bed last night. A TKO win in the 12th round is definitely not the mark of someone who wilts in the later rounds.
2. His heart isn't in it. He's only in it for the money.
An ignorant statement, actually. Cotto already has more money than he knows what to do with. He's still fighting for the only reason why most great fighters continue to fight.... 'cause it's in his blood and 'cause he wants to.
3. He couldn't avoid Margacheato's punches, so he'll be a sitting duck for Mayorga's flurries.
Well... I guess that one got put to bed also. He showed movement, avoided some of Mayorga's wild shots, and basically showed some pretty good defense.
4. He's a quitter.
Ironic, isn't it? It was actually Mayorga who said "No mas", for whatever reason it was. Even more ironic. Haters had Mayorga sending Cotto into retirement, and it seems it may be the other way around. Karma is a bitch, isn't it?
I love this forum, but I wish people who talk the most shit would show up after their predictions blow up in their faces and say...... "You know... I was wrong about so-and-so". He's actually better than I thought.

Cotto looked great and it was a awesome fight. I'd love to see him fight Margarito say what you want about the guy be he is a true warrior just like Cotto and if Cotto is willing to give him that fight who are we to question that?
Cotto answered some question about his boxing skills, which I thnk he looked pretty good defensively. To be honest though Mayorga didnt ask alot of questions about how he can handle constant pressure. Mayorga only fought in spurts, then got totally outclassed when he was in passive mode. Mayorga had a few moments but they were few and far between. I would like to see how Cotto handles the constant pressure of Margarito, I do think he will win this time because he looks like he has gone more into pure boxer mode rather than mixing it up like he used to. If he were to beat Margarito in the rematch he will have answered alot of questions.

Kirkland, Angulo, Dzinziruk, Berto... would all be good next opponents for Cotto. Williams I've never through so, 'cause of the size (height) difference. It probably wouldn't be a fan-friendly fight. But let's see what happens. There IS the matter of retribution from the beating Cotto took from MargaCHEATO, although I can also say that CHEATO doesn't deserve a single nickel from a big fight, even though unfortunately it already happened with Pacquiao. Is that the WBA ranking? We all know sanctioning body's rankings aren't accurate and don't matter. Chavez Jr. is ranked #2 ffs. He was there because Don King got him there.
The Ring Magazine and Espn didn't have Mayorga ranked in their top ten. And the IBO, which has a odd way of ranking (computerized maybe?), doesn't have Mayorga ranked in the top ten. I don't think anyone else had him ranked in their top ten at 154.
