The problem with pro boxing is its interpretation of who does a particular judge think gave the impression he was winning. In the amateurs you count whats scored. Abraham would have done alot better last night with amateur judging.
I think Froch will do very well with Ward and one thing iv noticed with Ward is he gets hit with left hooks quite easy. Iv grown to like Froch as a fighter. I used to think he was a prick. If he can stop trying to load up on one shot and use a bit more speed and sharpness he will make it very difficult for Ward. Froch has very good stamina, hes had some fast paced fights and not slowed down. He is a strong puncher and takes a fair shot. Hes just got to impose himself on Ward and make him run like fuck like he did for the first few rounds last night but unlike Abraham, Froch will benefit from that by getting in to a rythm.
Ward is ugly to watch. Holding is part of his game plan and hes in his 20's! Not some fading name that needs to do that because they cant keep up any more. Froch needs to figure how to fight out of those clinches and not klet Ward clinch to begin with. I think if Kessler could learn that he has it in him to beat Ward.
I'm impressed that you are training to be a judge. That's badass man!
Ward uses range really well it appears. He's faster than Froch and he doesn't slow down for 12 rounds. It's very tough to hit Ward generally and I'm not sure Froch is fast enough to hit Ward. You mentioned that Froch has good stamina. I actually disagree to an extent. Froch lost the Kessler fight because he took off too many rounds. Froch will be Ward's toughest fight to date, but Ward should go into it as the favorite. I should note that I'm still not completely sold that Froch gets by Glenn Johnson.
Re: So who wins the final??
Ward will start a justified favourite imo but froch I believe will be his toughest opponent to date. Kessler and Abraham, actually also Green mentally folded against Ward and allowed him to dcontroll the fight.
There's no way Froch does that. I think he will fight for 12 rounds, and won't give up if he starts to have no success.
I think he loses a decision but he will make Ward work for it.
It would be epic if Froch could pull the upset though.
His fight with Johnson is a tragic waste imo. Johnson wasnt even in the Super Six why the fuck are we risking a derailing to the great Froch Ward final by having this pointless but risky fight?

It just shows how pointless the whole Super Six was. Only three of the original six made it to the semi-finals. Johnson, a man that's fought once at 168 in 10 years, is two fights from being crowned the champion.
But what is even more ridiculous is - whilst the Super Six fighters have been beating each other into retirement, Lucian Bute, a guy that has been able to avoid all the best fighters, is currently ranked no.2 at the weight and at one time occupied the 1 spot.
Clearly.. fighting the best doesn't pay. Fact.

Lesson learned from this is that a double elimination tournament doesn't work in professional boxing. It was a good try, but it took too long. I think it did some good though. I had no real idea who Ward and Dirrell were before the tournament began and now I do in a major way. It has improved Froch's position too. I agree it is funny that Bute v. Kessler will be as big a fight at 168 as Ward v. Froch and it isn't in the tournament.

Agreed, but I still think the SS tourney was a success, it gave the fighters at 168 lots of exposure (for better or worse) and we did get to see some decent scraps because of it. In re: Bute, he'll eventually have to face Froch, Ward or Johnson, there isn't much other alternative for him, then we'll get to see what he's really made of, who knows, he could end up being the man at Super-Middleweight.
Re: So who wins the final??
i think the SS was a success too
so what people dropped out, they dropped out coz they were badly beaten and couldnt handle the pace of a comp full of world class opponents
taylor took a smashing, kesler took 2
AA should be commended for sticking at it
the only black spot was dirrell

I'm going with froch and his high workrate
You forgot Johnson? lets not get carried away just yet.
Exactly, I hat when people look past opponents...and dont count out Johnson, every time I have ever said oh he looks like he got old last fight, he comes back with a mild upset.

Froch is taller and has a longer reach and I think his punches will be harder to see coming than Abrahams. Id also bet that Froch hits harder than Abraham. Arthur may be a more aggressive fighter with a strong punch but hes a middle weight. A clean left hook from Froch will hurt Ward;)
Froch needs to loosen up, not load up on everything and not be so static. If he can be first with his jab that will be a good start, dont try and counter punch Ward because he will either be grabbing or bending so low his forehead scrapes the floor to be able to counter. Initiate all the action and push him back and left hooks off the jab.

Ok you asked for it.... Froch and Ward land simultaneous right hands and both get counted out. Nobody wins the super six.
Re: So who wins the final??
Froch has grown on me. I didn't see the big deal about a big slow super middle in the beginging but froch is a sneaky bad ass. He appears to be slow as hell, but i think i was wrong about that. I think in the ring dude with all the little quirks he adds is a lot faster than he appears. His defense is odd but kinda amazing. He's like a slower martinez where he can fight with his hands down, rolls his body the right way and rarely really gets hit. He aint the greatest but way better than i thought he was. Ok that being said i think he has no chance against ward but in a way i almost hopes he wins. Ward can just do too many things. He can box, which makes me wonder why he mauls and butts. If one thing doesn't work for ward he has two or three different styles to rely on. Ward is only missing a killer instinct and punch. Outside of that he can box inside, outside and probably upside down. And if that doesn't work he mauls and smothers so even if he isn't winning it sure looks like he is. I'll be rooting for both guys .
