Haye would have been remembered fondly had he not had his last fight. That 1 loss seems to have detracted from his whole career. Its the wrong way to go out IMO but thats his choice and if people remeber him alongside Audley then so be it. If he went out swiging vs Vitali he would have redeemed his rep somewhat.
Yes, it totally detracts from an ancient retired Ruiz and Audley Harrison. That entire loss seems to have overshadowed the previous scams.
Yeah his heavyweight career was crap and he never excited at the weight but he was good at cruiser. I'd say best ever behind Holyfield.

If we are getting into P4P listing's then I will nod my head and doze off. James Toney would have thrashed him.

I think so too. Haye defended his belt how many times at CW? And would be considered a near best ever? Not in a million years.
His rep will shrink over the years and so it should. He is rich though and can avoid the internet. He won in his own weird way.
A great careerist as I ALWAYS said!
Re: Offical...Haye retires!
Sad Sad news... now we will never get to see the Haye Vs Harrison rematch... its a dark dark day for heavyweight boxing.
Seriously thou he got alot of people to buy into his hype and made a shitload of money out of it so you have to give the guy credit.... I don't begrudge him a penny.

can't hold that against him, he didn't get a cent from me, but it just annoys me how people even after being duped by the guy still defend him and make excuses for him when it's clear that his career at HW was nothing more than a con job
Re: Offical...Haye retires!
If he really did have a broke toe wouldn't he want a rematch? He played us all like suckers. First Harrison was going to be the next Lennox Lewis. Then Haye was going to rule the HW division. Sad day for british boxing.:(

Forgive me sir.
Re: Offical...Haye retires!
Yeah, just to add to the whole um thing, he should petition the hall of fame on his own behalf.
"Hello , Who?"

i'd expect it will be a while before we have another HW championship fight to look forward to now, ill probably be well into my 40s
no, no i didn't, what was there to enjoy? 3 crap fights at HW, 2 Worst Fight of the Year Nominations, and a load of bullshit talked that was never backed up and then later blamed his crappiest performance on a busted toe , it's official David Haye is the biggest pussy in boxing today, well actually no he isn't anymore seeing how he quit that as well, all Haye did with his "HW career" was manage to give the division a worse rep than it already had, instead of being it's savior all he did was further damage the image of what was once the greatest division in the sport
Yawn
ok lets look forward to the mormeck fight then
oooohhh im all wet :)
