I don't like religion, but I certainly don't blame it for the financial crisis. However, for sure I am against powerful interests that abuse their power. That means a tiny fragment of the global population. Basically the rich muppets who never seem to have enough. Basically big finance which is in bed with the people who govern our countries.
It is commonsense to rail against those people and salute those who are taking their stand.
I sound like a broken record? Well it's better than suggesting that the people taking a stand all be 'shot'.

I don't know of many "tyrants" in history who succumbed to protesters and whine-ins. There has to be an end game and a preset level of escalation they as a group are prepared to climb to ???
When the cell phones and hand painted signs are replaced with bricks and Molotov's do they still get a pass ? And will the keyboard warriors pick up arms to support the cause :kar:

What's the reasoning behind closing a port or "camping" in a privately owned park and harassing your run of the mill small businesses if "the evil banks" are the ones they are protesting? The OWS makes no sense! The Tea Party had a message, they supported specific candidates and changes to government, OWS is a nebulous movement of unemployable over educated over privileged whiny ass liberals its a FACT miles! I've heard people complain that "oh, I worry that I won't be able to find a job after college, I majored in Environmental Studies and minored in Music" ....what type of job can that person get??? Is she going to start a choir of songbirds from the tropical rain forrest???? These people have accumulated debt with no purpose!!! They've gone to college because it "was the thing to do" not because they wanted a good job or wanted to make themselves easier to employ. If they had things there way they would be Professional Students, paid to go to class and learn liberal arts...you don't see Business or Econ majors in the OWS movement miles, because THEY are employable, they went to school to better themselves!
These people went to college because their teachers told them that they would amount to nothing if they didn't. "You need a college degree to succeed", they whine at you. And then you realise that you need copious debt to get through it and then you graduate and realise that the country has been sold to finance and that finance is getting richer off of your misery.
Well, yeah. You take to the streets and argue that you were sold a dodgy loan. Just like the subprime mortgage holders and the people who were laid off because enough was never enough. These people have been sold a lie and sold out and so they are taking it back and if that means closing a port then so be it. The port today and then what tomorrow. It is going to spread, Lyle.
But by attacking the protesters you once again evade what they are protesting about which is essentially the corruption and collusion of the political and financial elite. Being sold a lie is bad enough, but having to pay back with interest? That's when you tell them to bugger off and say "what about the frauds you committed?" and to then take them to task for it. And it's not just the loans, but that no jobs come at the end anyway. Even if you have one you end up losing it and your house too.
The entire country needs to be brought to a standstill really. Tax evasion, protests, violence. It is all heading towards what Obama could never have dreamed of when he promised "change".

I don't invalidate anything, they will accomplish this themselves when they keep the common pug trying to pay the rent from actually doing a job and earning a living. Sit ins and blocking road ways will not tear down a Government or have a significant inpact on its foreign policy but it will make speed bumps and hood ornaments out of a few. Rome wasn't built in a day. This movement has been running for a matter of weeks and look how it has spread. Who is to say it won't spread much more rapidly?
Peaceful protest is probably not enough. I think people really need to consider going the Syria route. Lives will need to be lost and civil disobedience will need to be increased. Power needs to be challenged and there are a lot of guns in America, it is time they were brought to the streets.
Peaceful protest is not going to be enough to make a dent, but considering the US elites phoney warning to Arabian dictators, I think it only right that a concerted effort be made upon the US elite themselves.

This is typical of the "everyone gets a trophy" generation, they want to hit the reset button, they want a 'Fight Club' style revolution....but just like when they were sold on college they are STILL not thinking about the consequences of their actions!!!
Governments have an obligation towards their people. You offer them real opportunities in the real world. You don't allow loan sharks to control education. You nationalize all key industries. You are a government run by the people in the interests of the people. Not a fricking government run in the interests of Wall Street.
Now let's see a system sold on truth AND in the interests of its citizenry. And furthermore, lets hold the elite to the same standards. Tax them properly and allow wealth to filter down as it should and in turn allow governments to provide jobs for people. None of this phoney sell education as a lie and money trickles down from the top BS.
Actually redistribute the money and jail anyone who doesn't accept the social contract. Society is about all, not just you.
