Re: May 5th Mayweather Sweepstakes...who's next
Why are people even talking about a Guerrero fight?
Mayweather vs Guerrero: The Experts Give Their Take - Boxing News
Funny thing is 4 of the 6 voting for Guerrero to win were either his good friends or his promoters. Donaire, Casamyor, Gomez of GB and one other guy from GB.
Re: May 5th Mayweather Sweepstakes...who's next
It would not surprise me if he fought Morales, Maidana or Guerrero on May 5th. I can't see him taking a backwards step and fight Ortiz again. Personally I would still like to see him fight Pacman and Marquez fight Morales on May 5th. I can still dream can't I?

id love a fight with khan, still floyd by ko thou
final thoughts really, itll be fun to watch anyone of these, but dammit i want pacqiou-mayweather and i think we all need to sign a petition for it, those seem to be working lately
If thats the case then whats the point of him fighting anyone at all? I dont think every fight has to be the "lets watch him lose" fight. When it comes to elite level fighters, or any other fighter you follow for this case, we want to see how they will react to certain things. Yes, Floyd would beat Khan, but the speed of Khan would give him issues, yes Floyd beats Martinez, but Martinez's style, power, and speed, make it fun to watch.

Why is Cotto's name always missing from these lists?:o

A paintiing in a museum hears more ridiculous comments than anything else in the world.
Pacquaio's last 10 fights since 2007
Barrera
Marquez
Diaz
De la Hoya
Hatton
Clottey
Cotto
Margarito
Mosley
Marquez
His previous 4 fights in 2006 included two KO wins over Erik Morales who is the last man to beat him in 2005! Yep, Pacquaio takes no risks at all:rolleyes:

With the exception of the 38 yo Marquez, who Floyd totally dominated, just about every fighter you named was washed up when he fought them.
Nice names but not when they fought Pacman dude.

Diaz is no risk, he's always been a shit fighter who had one nice come back from behind lucky ko, he was given a gift against a shot Morales, and then barely kept his title to an unknown right before fighting Manny
Marquez should be 3-0 against Pacquiao, and it's obvious that Manny has still tried to nitpick when to face him, the thing is it's backfired in both the 2nd and 3rd fights
Barrera, the first win was as clear cut and a clean win in Pacquiao's favor, no questions asked, second fight Barrera was already on the slide and showed up to get a paycheck
DLH, as it is known Roach has himself stated that he only took the fight because he knew that DLH was on the slide and wouldn't cut down to 147 effectively, once he saw the needle marking from Oscar re-hydrating himself he told Manny to go after him, so how much credit should Manny really get for beating a weight drained corpse?
Hatton, although he looked to have been slipping he had put up one of his better displays since losing to Mayweather (Malignaggi fight), the 2nd round KO is a legit as any and no excuses to really be made
Cotto, although it's another example of Pacquiao going after a guy after a so-so showing, seeing how Manny called him out right after Cotto's somewhat weak showing against Clottey, Cotto looked to be in great shape on fight night and has looked good in fights after the loss, Cotto basically had no corner against Manny but that's Miguel's agenda not Pacquiao's
Clottey, he basically picked to fight the guy who had just lost to the guy who had just lost to him :-X, no real risk there sorry, especially after you saw the "fight" that Clottey put up
Margarito, looked like shit in his comeback fight against a journeyman, and then called for a catchweight, but went on to beat the shit out of him for 11 of the 12 rounds
Mosley, no risk involved here what so ever, apart from a lucky right hand that wobbled Mayweather, Mosley had just had his ass handed to him by Mayweather for every round, including the same round that Mayweather was stunned in, the fact that Pacquiao took him on a year afterwards only emphasizes how further shot Mosley was when he stepped in the ring
so he's taken "calculated risks" at the very best since moving up, like i said in another thread, smoke and mirrors for the most part
Re: May 5th Mayweather Sweepstakes...who's next
Fighting the Cotto - Margarito winner will be nice. But I read in the other thread that fight is likely to be in jeopardy. If that fight does not go through, then I wish Floyd goes directly and fight Cotto.
Mayweather can, also, call out Pacquiao since he's ripe for the picking now. This is to shut up those who might think that he's still ducking this version of the Pacman.
Other than those (I don't think Martinez has ever been an option for him), then there is no point but to milk the spectators.

Cotto/Margarito II isn't in jeopardy of not happening, it simply is in jeopardy of happening in MSG, they might move it to Cowboy Stadium, it's stupid that the NYSAC waited so long to ask Margarito for the eye exams, but yea, Mayweather is calling for Pacquiao and both Manny and Bob are turning their heads and acting like it's not happening, instead looking for a 4th fight with Marquez, I say Mayweather should go for any of the top guys at 154 or even Bradley
Re: May 5th Mayweather Sweepstakes...who's next
While its not likely to happen, if Floyd came into the 154lb division with a clinic/tune up on Kirkland and then went after Martinez and won, he would make a huge statement and silence alot of people.

i guess i see your point, theyre all fun to watch but i just wanna see an old fashion best vs best type of fight, kind of like a leanard-hearns ali- frazier match up, we def dont need ortiz again, mayweather wins hands down, we say how it will play out, no reason to see that again, i think itll be fun to see him agasint berto thou, the ortiz fight showed me that young fighters are def coming with more to the table as far as making the fight physical, and i know i am probably setting it up for headbutt jokes but thats not what i mean

I agree a competitive fight to see who is the best is always what we fans hope for (and what MMA/UFC is doing) But boxing like alot of other sports now is not about that, its a business, its peoples jobs (look at the Cotto/Margarito face off, Cotto says it, why would I risk myself, "its just my job".) So in most cases we wont ever see the best VS best because its not in their best interest as business people.
