Here in Texas immigrant labor from Mexico (largely undocumented) is a vital part of our economy. They are generally family oriented, hard working people with a strong entrepreneurial drive. Unfortunately some of those positive traits fall off as they assimilate to the American culture. The issue is the drain on the welfare state. There is a real demand for the labor so if we removed the welfare state then open borders wouldn't be a problem. People would move freely for employment just like commerce but wouldn't be a drain on the social systems.

Its a selective fact. Of course not ALL immigrants add something, but as a collective they add more than they take. Your logic seems to be that because some will come to take advantage then none should be allowed to come (forgetting of course that we are required by law to allow free migration).
I doubt you have seen many facts supporting your view because its mostly just fear mongering and bigotry and you have fallen for it.

It's mostly just Visa Overstayers of course but it creates an interesting point about the types of immigration people find palatable and why.
