Anyone know what he made for the 4th fight, or against Bradley in comparison? I'd imagine he could fight any 3 guys and not make as much as he would given a closer split with Pacman.
$6 million against both. Bear in mind Pac's money was $25m/Bradley's $4m. So obviously a Pac fight is worth shitloads more than anyone else.
Wow, thanks. Guess that's half your answer right there. He's clearly never going to get anywhere near a 50/50 split with Manny(nor should he), but he'd certainly demand a lot more than he got for any of the first 4 after scoring that KO. I'd bet the loss to Bradley hurt his earning power as far as other prospective fights as well.
Re: Juan Manuel Marquez seems not really interested in the Pacquiao 5th fight.
JMM won all the fights against Manny but I really think he knows he will get beat next time. Manny had him stopped and got careless, he knows he will not make the same mistake again.
Re: Juan Manuel Marquez seems not really interested in the Pacquiao 5th fight.
Marquez is one of the few fighters who puts pride and principles before money.. that's why he chose to face chris john for 30k rather than fighting pac for 750k which would have been his career high payday at the time... he turned down that kind of money even when he wasnt a millionaire ...
He clearly dont care whether or not he gets 50-50 split or whatever..
Re: Juan Manuel Marquez seems not really interested in the Pacquiao 5th fight.
Considering the tremendous, hall of fame career he has had...he can tell Pac and company to fuck off and i have zero problems with that. People keep saying Pac was busting him up before JMM finally caught him. Well...he trained for that kind of punch and result. He put on masterclasses of counter punching in the first three fights and got shafted. So he trained to KO Pac...which he did viciously. Perfect way for him to finish their saga. End of story. Move the fuck on.
Re: Juan Manuel Marquez seems not really interested in the Pacquiao 5th fight.
Wants to go out on a high note.

I agree but I would not go so far as to say Manny had him stopped. Manny has taken JMM to many cross roads points and never closed the deal. Besides when was the last time Pac has KO'ed anyone. Living in the past Mr Master ..

How does a win over Rios push Pac over JMM based on a common opponent loss to Bradley? Its 50/50 or no go. The mindset that all you have that Pac deserves the bigger purse is why no Mayweather fight has evolved.

I think he knows that he was getting the shit beat out of him in that fight despite actually knocking manny down for the first time in 4 fights. his nose was broken and face was a bloody mess. I'm sure that he knows that fight manny went all out and if he didn't land that punch to knock him out he would've for sure lost either by wide unanimous decision or stoppage. For the record I think marquez won the 3rd fight but he was getting the crap beat out of him the 4th. He doesn't want the fight because with out that punch he would've lost and he knows he probably won't land it again.
Your spot on. The other fights were close i agree, but before that ko, he was getting mashed up. I think age is catching up and he aint getting younger. Another fight with pac would be very dangerous for him, because of age, and the fact that it will be a flat out war. I think pac skills have not diminished as much as jmm. A rematch would be a pac tko or stoppage imo, unless jmm comes in 20 pounds heavier (angel), then it will be a tko.

All the blood leaking out of his broken nose would have either made him weak or killed his breathing. The fight wouldve been stopped

Yes maybe stopped than knocked out. Pac really tripped into that punch, one in a million chance.

Pac is worth much more than Marquez regardless of his KO loss. Marquez-Bradley did 300,000 PPV. Pac-Rios did 500,000. Pac-Bradley did 750,000.
Pac's guarantee against Rios was $18m. Marquez made $6m against Bradley. Pac got $26m+ against Bradley.
When it comes to money, it doesn't matter who the better fighter is, just who's the better seller.

The public will not pay to see another Rios like caliber vs Pac. Half of the intrigue was the comeback itself. But the problem is not JMM it is Bradley does not sell . Pac vs Bradley was not all that successful and neither will the rematch with either of the two. However JMM just fights the fights he needs/wants . Pac fights for Arums big top Circus.

You forgot to mention that the 18 million was guaranteed Chinese money. Address the venue and its importance. Then you see Pac vs Rios was a real flop and dispels you comment.

Pac actually has diminished just as much as JMM if not more. JMM is technically a superb fighter. Pac's biggest advantage was always his athleticism. But Manny has slowed down considerably. I know some people want to make his performance against Rios bigger than it is...but i actually think he has been slipping for quite sometime. AGAIN...i don't care if he was busting up Marquez before he got knocked the fuck out. JMM trained for that kind of fight. He knew he would take more punishment looking to land that one KO punch. End of the day...Marquez won the fight emphatically. And lets not forget...Marquez not only seems content with his career...he seems to be financially stable. While he might not be the big draw Pac is...he doesn't owe his government a shit load of money in taxes. Marquez doesn't need Pac. But of course for all the Pac jockers...they can always fall back on the "one in a million" punch excuse
