Other guys still have all their abilities in 1 fight, and show up with literally nothing the next fight out.

And that's the truth, Alvarez weighed 174 lbs on fight night agaisnt Angulo a couple of months ago.

I think some guys and the ones who can afford it train with consideration to coming in heavy nowadays. The fine, the weight is a manipulation and calculated. Broner v Escobedo was a hoodwink and a farce. One guy busts his ass to make weight, the little known guy clamoring for a upset...and the fat tart star knew all along he was blowing weight not once, but twice. Meanwhile Escobedo was needing to literally eat a full stuff crust pizza to pack on in the A.M. All catchweights do is blur and obscure any restriction or guidelines left in this circus. We complain about 8, 16 weight classes but now its more like 20 plus on any given rotation, often a mere lb being the point of contention as with Garcia and Matthysse. Loser keeps a trinket, loser keeps a ranking, its basically like trying to have it both ways. When I think catchweight I think the very best in one division facing another and a meet in the middle. But now its a large portion of ego stroking, network dealings to keep two "stars" happy-willing and tunnel vision strictly on name value but not a lot to best of the best. Alvarez has no business...well no ring business..being below 154. Manny is maxed at 144-147? and being stung early by wild man Bradley. Its a terd of a "match" if they propose to float it.

does anybody else think that el chocolatito should call out pac at a catchweight of 120 pounds? i think thats fair. if pac refuses then its an obvious duck.

I think it is a simple fight for Pac. Canelo showed his limitations against Floyd and Pac is faster, stronger, slick too. Just unload, walk, reset, ad infinitum. Canelo is much bigger, but he couldn't tough out Floyd. Manny is almost the same, both a different league to Canelo.

You've had some good posts in this thread but this is absolute garbage. There is no point in a Canelo fight at 150. Canelo can't fight at 150. Manny can so don't make him the victim.

There is a long history that does nothing to hide what's going on. Clottey, sure we can fight him at 147, Cotto well we have to make that 145, Shane "can you make 142?". Manny has been a phenomenon but don't hide from the fact Roach has been blatant with attempts to handicap opponents. And just how handicapped they have to be varies by the perceived threat. Just be honest, this isn't even an attack on Manny it's an attack on the sport and Roach in particular.

150 would be a farce. Canelo would have no speed or power. He'd be gassed in the 1st round like ODLH was. This nonsense needs to stop. If you want to fight someone fight them, don't decide just how much you need to weaken them and fight them under BS restrictions.

If you can't fight them at their weight don't fight them it's simple. And people playing the little guy is the victim card are either liars or ignorant. Little men have moved up with great success all through boxing history. People losing weight have historically struggled. The bigger guy shrinking is without a doubt the victim.

If canelo is dumb enough to sign the contract, then he deserves to get mashed. Cant come with excuses causes you decided to fight a catch weight fight...that is not mandatory.

Canelo already had the biggest fight of his life with floyd so now oscar and bob arum are slowly edging out richard schafer there is a real possibility of this fight to make these guys there biggest paydays (exc floyd)

Roach and arum couldnt careless what anyone thinks about catchweights as they still have a fighter that can demand anything from any other fighter out there(exc floyd)

Canelo will make weight somehow (IF he can beat Lara) as the money is everything right now for these fighters.

Pac needs marquez or canelo next to get his numbers up there.

Canelo needs pac or cotto next to continue his huge paydays and increasing popularity.

As RANCATRAT said floyd isnt innocent and also had a catchweight fight with canelo (that canelos team suggested) but no one has had as many catchweights as manny.
