Not a bad shout as a comparison.
Like Harrison he has the skills and attributes but just isn't strong enough to deal with anyone with real desire and anyone with a good punch is a massive risk.
The shot Froch caught him with, he should have seen and been able to avoid. Froch is a good puncher but he's not the biggest. That punch would have got the attention of but not hurt, had it even landed against the likes of Kessler, Bika, Ward, Dirrell, Abraham etc. he really needs to work on his head movement because its none existent. He has the same style as Haye which is just to move out the way with his footwork but stuck against the ropes and he's a sitting duck.
He may now also be in Harrison mode with regards to punches coming his way. Gun shy.
We also tend to forget froch had no defence in the first few rounds of the first fight , when groves caught him flush ,froch's punches won't have been as hard and sharp for a good few rounds after that . In the second fight I never thought groves was ever going to have that kind of success again.
Now if he starts to doubt his own punch resistance he could well become very gun shy .
Well, he's not doubting his punch resistance yet or he'd stay away from Dirrell and Froch. I'd really like to see the Dirrell fight, that could tell us where Groves belongs.
Another KO or truly bad performance anytime soon could end Groves' hopes for more big paydays.
Do you mean a third knockout loss on the trott?;D
Re: Groves eyes Dirrell shot and Froch trilogy
Im meaning that he wont reach any higher than he has. He may win a WBF belt (if it still exists) and a pize fighter tournament;D but I cant really see him getting through 12 rounds with any of the champs. He looks too fragile. He slows down, his chin isn't great and his defensive skills aren't very good either. He literally just stood right in front of Froch with his hands round his face looking at the floor in the first fight. Just went in to a shell. In the second he got caught with a punch he should have seen a mile off. It was a strong shot but wouldn't have landed on most fighters and if it did, I cant see someone like Kessler looking like he'd just been shot in the head!
He has just lost by KO in his last two fights.....

Ok , so Froch beat him twice, but if Groves is only worthy of a WBF belt or Prizefighter, then what does that say about Froch? And in the 1st fight, when did he "literally just stand right in front of Froch with his hands round his face looking at the floor?"
Groves gave Froch all the trouble he could handle in the 1st fight and until the knockout in the 2nd fight, it had been pretty even and Groves was arguably beginning to get on top. However, the finish was conclusive and fair play to Froch for that, but if Groves is shit, Froch ain't much better.

Froch ain't much better? 2 stoppage wins over Groves and Froch ain't much better than Groves?
Groves had his chance and just didn't look prepared. He shot his bolt early. He tried not to in the second fight but it didn't help.

Whether you think the stoppage in the 1st fight was right or not, nobody can deny that Groves was having the better of it at least. In the 2nd fight , before the KO, there was nothing in the fight , but like I said before, credit to Froch. Overall, Froch hardly showed that he's some sort of phenomenon . I agree that Groves had his chance and blew it and shouldn't be looking for another go . He's got to live with it and get on with his career.
But on the strength of those 2 fights, you can't say that Froch is some sort of legend and Groves is a piece of shit!
Infact, the only legendary thing that Froch had coming out of those fights was his ability to take so many punches clean on the jaw and survive!
If Froch is good/great then Groves ain't bad, or if Groves is shite, then Froch is pretty average.
What's it to be?
Froch is tough and thats it. Ask Tam, I used to despise Froch. I do think he's average but thats not really the truth, he's better than average, he's good and too tough for the likes of Groves or Bute, fighters who will fall apart faced with adversity.
Re: Groves eyes Dirrell shot and Froch trilogy
Groves will win a world title.
Imagine if Smith beats Arthur Abraham.
Groves has already destroyed Smith and will go for it again.
Lets not forget his 2 losses are against one of the best British fighters this generation.

However Froch has, what ? Maybe 2 or 3 fights left in him ? So Groves is most likely gonna run out of time. Plus some only get one chance, Groves has had two chances and it would be a total disgrace if he was given a third chance next summer when their are so many other fighters waiting in line, DeGale to name but one and others too.
