The cruisers have to feel like the ugly daughter standing next to the prom queen for the family photo. Though today the 'massive' heavyweight division isn't exactly making noise and covering itself in glory either??? Its always been a bit of a transition point for smaller heavy's chasing the money, fame or just growing quick. They cannot all be Holyfield, or even Orlin Norris for that matter. Really if we're knocking off divisions we can start with all this Jr or Spr stuff. Especially considering a fair amount of guys today don't even stick to it and require catchweights for no reason whatsoever! Thinking about it, a guy under the radar is Mchunu Thabiso at cruiser and I think he is one of the best pure boxers going today.

I agree that if you want to eliminate diviions, the ones that should be targeted are the "inbetween" divisions definitely!
I will reiterate something important. The division immediately before HW, will ALWAYS be a launch pad division for the best guys in it to turn HW later for more money even if it isn't their natural weight.
There is nothing wrong with the cruiser division at all, if it's eliminated, the LHW division again becomes the launch pad except it's too far a gap these days to breach from 175. Cruiser class is absolutely necessary, and soon, an even heavier class will be established, Cruiser will be a normal division and the new class will become the HW launch pad for smaller fighters and guys will be complaining about THAT division then.

I like the division :-X it's just a matter of making decent fights ;) Toney-Jirov was at Cruiser and was fantastic :D
The division has got some good talent (Hernandez, Huck, Drozd, Lebedev, Chakhkiev, Mchunu, Makabu) and quality fights are in the works ;)

What about the cruisers that come in around 210-215lbs at fight night? O'Neil Bell, Mormeck?
Are they just LightHeavies who tuck a few extra hamburgers in overnight too?

Talent wise... I would put Chad Dawson up against any Cruiser- and Dawson is on his downslide- and he would be no better or worst fighting a good LH. Punch power, skill, speed and stamina.
The weight classes are due a revision... and while we are at it, the 135 to 147 weight divisions are being abused.

LMFAO Dawson would be killed in the ring against the likes of Lebedev, Chakhiev, Huck. Huck went toe to toe with Povetkin, a top 5 heavy FFS

my god your posts just get worse and worse. First of all. LHW is 175. Cruiser is 200. The size difference is pretty similar if not more then a MW and a LHW, which is 3 divisions compared to 2. Second of all abolishing the Cruiser would mean a guy would jump from fighting 175 pound guys to 240+ which again is stupid. So you make the change to 185 or 190. Its still a big jump but possibly acceptable but what do the poor super middleweights then do? Jump from 168 to 190? Cmon man think before you speak.
The obvious eliminations are the jr divisions. Jr Fly, Jr Bantom and Jr Feather are unneccessary for me and just makes winning belts in multi weight classes easy and pretty meaningless.

I can only agree with SilkyJoe.
The Jr. divisions are pretty meaningless now, basically undermined by guys fighting very often now at catchweights.

The same talented Dawson who came in 202 lbs a fight before last, and then was out punched and even outboxed in spots but the world renowned Tommy Karpency ;D
