Wasn't that the round Wilder was supposed to become stationary too?Stiverne was forced out of his comfort zone and couldn't handle the pace.
Frustration, piston like jabs exploding on his face, and thudding right hands have a way of slowing everyone down, especially after six rounds.
He was too pooped to have any pop on his punches.
He was dehydrated? He should have been, he spent 36 minutes following Wilder around the ring, throwing hard punches, that a lot of you say never landed.
Agreed.
Re: Bermane Stiverne remains hospitalized after title bout with severe dehydration!!
Stiverne fought a ballsy fight IMO, came forward on the puncher and took a lot of big punches, he just couldn't get the job done.
Re: Bermane Stiverne remains hospitalized after title bout with severe dehydration!!
Anybody can become dehydrated if they shit themselves excessively and on the night Stiverne seemingly did a lot of that. I hope he recovers and I am sure he will manage to fight again sometime in the next couple of years under the fine guidance of Don King.

Explains everything, there should be an immediate rematch. Stiverne was exhausted at the ends of both rounds 1 and 2, in fact every time he let his hands go it looked like he desperately needed a nice glass of water. Larry Holmes even texted Don King about it, what else do you need?

I guess Stiverne was in the gym by himself most of the time, "Hey Bermey, if you have any questions we'll be across the street, having a cup of coffee. Don't worry about locking the place up, I already asked one of your sparring partners to do that. Oh yeah, drink some water."
Stiverne is preparing for an important fight and nobody is asking, "How are you feeling, Champ?" ten times a day?
He's been preparing for fights for years and years and he doesn't know his own body enough to say, "Something is wrong, I don't feel right." with enough conviction to get their attention?
I guess it could happen.
To be fair just to look at him and the amount of excess weight he carries, how good are his trainers, or does he even listen?

Does he have the same trainers as this guy ?
Re: Bermane Stiverne remains hospitalized after title bout with severe dehydration!!
This occurrence has raised some red flags for me. I am not one to typically buy into a fighter's excuses for a loss, but in this case I think it could play a bigger factor. Stiverne has said he wasn't hurt at all and I don't buy that he got wobbled a bit and should have had a knockdown counted against him as well, HOWEVER, if he was that dehydrated it could have really sapped his power, stamina, etc.
Has Bermane said why he was dehydrated? The Flu? Norovirus? If he suffered through either of those then I'd say Wilder is very lucky indeed.
Re: Bermane Stiverne remains hospitalized after title bout with severe dehydration!!
Whether it's true or not, it doesn't matter. High level sports aren't all about skill and what you "can" do, preparation is obviously key. If Bermane wasn't consuming enough fluids and/or was overtraining his body, that comes down on him and his team. Stiverne's gone the full 12, 10, 8 rounds before with no issue. Deontay had never been past 4. How come Deontay could prepare himself adequately but Stiverne couldn't?
Not interested in hearing excuses. History remembers the winners.
