Re: Saddam Ali v the Mexican fellow they tried to get in to replace Canelo against gg
Ali has some good moments in the third but the Mexican says do I look bovvered.... And comes back and hurts him more :S..... Bit of a squash match.
Re: Saddam Ali v the Mexican fellow they tried to get in to replace Canelo against gg
Ali down for the last time in the forth from a left hook, ref stops it quick but I think it's the right choice, munguia was way bigger and stronger than him, Ali isn't a mug despite what people claim so its a good win for munguay, but I think you can't ignore the size difference here, a 21 year old guy who will end up at a higher weoghtclasss v a 147 guy.... Poor Ali I think he will retire now... Hbo set him up bad there.
Don't know if this means he would be a good opponent for golovkin or not but it's a bit bizarre he would be rejected but vanes was ok... I suspect hbo wanted the nsac to reject him so they can work that angle.

Alpha called this and he even warned me. Feel an idiot now.

Sadam ali gets a harsh time from fans but he really isn't that bad, in the current system of multiple title belts I think he is worthy of being a 1/4 champ, he certainly has some skills and speed he's just not that great. .. good for him winning a world title and I can't help but think hbo set him up to be slaughtered here against a guy way bigger than him.... I am looking forward to seeing more of munguia although I suspect he won't be able to stay at 154 for long without eating a lot of Mexican beef... I can see him being an alvarez opponent soon.
It actually turned out to be a fun broadcast, vargas v the aremenian was fun and it was interesting to see the munguia ali squash match.

Ali isn’t awful but I remember watching a few fights early in his career and was never that impressed. He has ended up about where I thought he would. A decent fighter but nowhere near the skills to be a top fighter.

Ali had a target on his back. Munguia got to him first, by chance as well, by getting ruled out for GGG and then Smith getting injured. Ali gave his all but never really had a chance against the big young gun. Munguia is far from polished but just thinking of a Hurd/ Munguia brawl is wondrous.
If Sadam continues he should return to 147.

You know what impressed me the most about Munguia? He kept his right hand at home and mostly caught the left hook counters Ali was throwing. I liked him, throws good punches.
