Re: Holyfield: It's my Season!
well the heavyweight division is so methodical really, speed is not all that much an issue, damn near everyone is slower then cold maple syrup , that why the old guys can compete at that level. and some of the old guys actually have more stamina then some of these young green sloths ;)
now in the lighter weight divisions age is a serious serious issue. an old man can get hurt down there !
;D

I believe that boxing should have a masters division.
They should keep this record seperate from regular pro record so they don't tarnish their own legacy.
and yes people will pay (Maybe not as much but they will pay) to see old champions fight against each other again.... It would be for fighters who are from 40 to 50 years old. This way they still get to fight and make a little extra money.
Holyfield was my all time fav but I really don't want to see him get in with some of these newer guys with less mileage.
Totally agree.
6 rounders with Hill, Bowe, Hearns, Holy, Foreman, Tyson, & the likes.
That's like having an old man sit at the kids table during Thanksgiving dinner. Humiliating.
If I were one of his umpteen children I would make sure he understood just how little chance he had unifying the titles. Ask him who he thinks is going to be spoon feeding him when his brain is knocked unfunctional.
If he thinks he is going to unify the belts than he's delusional. The more he talks about doing it the more I want to slap his face. If he would just say that all he wants to do is fight a few more fights to get some rocking chair money and try to get the fight game out of his system that I would be very happy for him.

Gorilla Why do you think he is delusional?? I doubt seriously its all about the money....Goals are Goals you aim high and give it your all, Evander has an excellent opportunity in this weak division, if he dosen't unify but atleast wins a title it is an accompolishment in itself, if he fights and progressively ratches up the competition and keeps winning and looks good doing so.....I ask you what is wrong with that????

Re: Holyfield: It's my Season!
the second evander steps into the ring with a professional boxer (not an insurance salesman who moonlights as a boxer) he is going to take a vicious beating.
nobody should be supporting his return and his bs quest to become hw champ again because he is going to get hurt
at this point in his career, he is nothing more than a novelty.

Well I would agree with you, but the current landscape of the division is so piecemailed together its anyones game...If Maskaev and Valuev could be Heavyweight champion so can Evander Holyfield.... ;)

Re: Holyfield: It's my Season!
exactly my thoughts jt CC

Re: Holyfield: It's my Season!
What some people don’t realize is that Evander’s shoulder “Rotator cuff" was a legit problem, and caused him to be sub par and flat in his last 5-6 fights. after 2-3 rounds he could not even use his left hand. The pain was very intense. Now after 4 surgeries to correct the problem Evander is back, he will mop the floor with this weak ass division, Evander is actually a skilled fighter in the Heavyweight division, its really going to be quit easy for Evander to shine, now that he is injury free.

It's true though! If his injuries have healed and he can pull the trigger on his punches then he has a legitiment chance to be Champ.....Well have to see how he fares against Oquendo 1st..

exactly, and if you didn’t know abot all that , you would think, Damn Holyfield should not be fighting. LOL... but when you know he was fighting injured all those years, it makes sense that when the injury is corrected he would shine once again ! I can understand where people are coming from that are not educated to the fact that Evander had shoulder injuries... Also one of the most debilitating injury to a fighter is the rotator cuff, the fact Holyfield lasted against Donald with that pain is a tribute to how fucking strong willed Evander is, When Holyfield have all cylinders firing , aint nobody in this era going to beat him, that’s for damn sure.
;)

Re: Holyfield: It's my Season!
holyfield should rematch toney and donald and revenge them losses sometime

holyfield's numerous injuries were no secret to anybody.
evander being so injury prone is just one of his many flaws. yes, hes got heart but so do a lot of fighters.
you think he could beat peter?
klitchko?
toney?
maskaev?
valuev?
brock?
be realistic............
dont forget, that insurance salesman rocked him with a couple good shots (evander did take them well, i admit) but if any of those guys i previously mentioned catches him with anything like that, evanders done because a PROFESSIONAL fighter would follow it up.

I think Evander easily beats
maskaev
valuev
brock
he knocks Peter out inside 8
if Toney comes in at 233 he easily beats Toney. Toney in shape is always going to be tuff.
-
Re: Holyfield: It's my Season!
Wlad would be a tuff fight., Wlad is a tuff fight for anyone though . However I think Evander guts it out , and cashes in on the fragile chin late ! I think the WBO guy might be the biggest threat in the Heavy's but nobody ever talks about him , The rest of the division is shit. Holyfiled can really shine in this era IMO!

If his quest were to simply win a belt I would feel differently, because if things turned sour you could reign him in. However, if he goes in with unrealistic goals it's going to be hard to reason with him when it's time to give up the dream.
I admit that I'm only guessing that he nees the money. It just makes more sense to guess that he would rather than wouldn't. The more money you make the more money you spend. I'd hate to have to pay his bills for one month.
Anyway, my heart is with him. My mind thinks it's a joke.

Re: Holyfield: It's my Season!
i think he has what it takes even though jeremy bates was a shit fighter i still think holyfield has the skill to beat him
