    By Matt Richardson

In 42 days Evander Holyfield will turn 44 years old. In 64 days Evander Holyfield will fight in his 50th professional boxing match. While those numbers are high and indicate Holyfield should be completing (or should have already completed) his illustrious career, the former undisputed Cruiserweight and Heavyweight champion believes he has just opened a new door on his path to once again regaining the undisputed Heavyweight championship. "I am ready and I truly believe it's my season," Holyfield, 39-8-2, 26 KO's said to a packed house at Gallagher's Steakhouse in NYC on Thursday to announce his November 10th date against Fres Oquendo in a bout which will take place at the Alamodome in San Antonio, Texas. FSN will televise in a special pay-per-view format

Evander will lose this fight he is a fossil and shouldn't even be allowed to compete at this level imo... jeremy Bates was absolutely nothing we don't know Evander isn't at serious risk fighting a capable boxer, he is shot to bits...

I don't know Oquendo's been put down like twice or something maybe Evander lands that sweet shot. But I agree with p4pking he should just retire already. I think he's just too old. He's not in bad shape or anything it's just he's pushing it too far and with that he's tarnishing is legacy. For example you look at Brett Farve. A lot of people love that guy almost like they love Evander, but Farve last year had an atrocious season 4-12, 29 INT and his lowest ever QB passer rating. Same thing with Evander the last 6-7 years he's lost more fights than he did the first 14 years in his career. He should just end it with that knockout in the books and become an announcer or promoter or something. But since this fight is going down. Evander good luck to you and hope you win.

Hey Jeremy bates is not world class fighter but for the couple of rds Holyfield looked good..If he can do what he did in that fight fir 10 rds he IMO could win a world title....Evanders problem before his license was revoked wasn't the fact he lost ability it was he couldn't pull the trigger anymore and was taking to much abuse...You dont forget how to fight or lose ability to know what to do it's you body that decides if you can do it or not...If Evander is in shape and the shoulder Really is what the problem was and it REALLY is fixed add that to the long rest and he has the skill to outbox almost anyguy out there...We all know he has the heart.. I guess we will find out if the shoulder was the problem or just an excuse soon enough..I wish him luck and hopes he can do it..if he starts to fade out again and takes an over abundance of abuse I hope he will be smart enough to know to quit and not wait til he is stripped of his license again.....JUST PLEASE DONT MAKE A DANCING WITH THE STARS COMEBACK

I said it before and I'll say it again I'm sure Evander's corner keeps a good eye on him during this comeback run, I doubt there going to let him sustain any prolonged damage during a fight, if he can hold his own and be more than competitive than he has every reason to keep chasing his goal I will support him 100% as a fan..

Its only if he takes a beating that I will follow most peoples sentiments that he should retire... At 44 he is still in the same fight shape he was 15 yrs ago the guy isin't an old out of shape Ali or Holmes he takes this stuff seriously and is taking every measure to make sure he puts himself in a position to have his best chance coming into fight as his usual focused, conditioned, prepared self who is always ready to battle.... He has more of those above menioned attributes than most in the division and the dignity and pride that goes with being a Champion...

Sorry bro, I can't understand, Holyfield is on the downside of his career, yes he was an all time great and books will still mention him as one of the best 90's boxer for sure.

but let faces the truth, he's faaaar past his prime and he could get seriously hurt in this game (remember in which shape is Georges page nowadays ?) this is insane...I mean he needs no more money but he's just running to catch up his ego..

Holyfield was a great great warrior, but c'mon he's not at this best he's far from being at the kind of shape he was 10years ago far far...

Beating Jeremy bates ? my god, this guy was a journeyman anyway I agree, he needed this kind of bout badly

Oquendo is far more serious, but beatable due to his long layoff...but after that ? I can understand that Holy has the tool to survive to any contender...but please I don't wanna see him hurt.

True lovers of Holyfield want his retirement from the ring.

You mean to tell me you cant look at Evanders physical condition now and 15 yrs ago and can see a difference it's quite obvious at 44 he still eats right dedicates himself to conditioning and is chiseled like stone..

All my point was that if he is going to press forward with his goals, he is doing everything physically possible to put himself in the best position to do so...

And sorry I am a Huge fan of Evander, if he wants to compete and is capable of doing so then so be it, your not a doctor if he is fit to carry on with out any serious reprecussions then let the man do what he does best and chase his dream...

i wish holyfield the best, and if he has to fight, i want him to win, im sure we all do. But being in good physical condition means nothing when your brain is turning to soup. I love the guy, he's my favorite boxer of all time. I just dont want to see him braindead.

Again agreed!!!! But he is doing everything physically possible to put him self in a good position..The better shape he's in the more alert he is, the more mobile he is and better reaction time and wont fatigue as quickly which will help him keep his hands up.....

Evander better hope the road to another championship is short and paved with mediocre competition.

He himself knows it's mission impossible. Evander is looking to pad is wallet.
