I have a friend who's parents are JW's, it was unfortunate for him when he was growing up because he never got any gifts on his birthday. Come to think of it, his parent, although very, very nice people, were kind of white-trash drunks... Maybe they just told him that so they had more cash to spend on their home-brewed wine and beer.

No its true... I was the only one in the family as well as a man of the bible and an ordained Minister.... Then I just couldnt live up to the standards, no Pre-marital sex, no partying etc... Its not like you cant do anything fun, I mean I had plenty of friends in the truth and we got together often and had gatherings and BBQ's and stuff.. Holiday were fine too I mean while people were doing Christmas and Thanksgiving we were hhaving big dinners and having good association... One thing to keep in perspective, you can give gifts to people anytime of the year not just on designated days like Christmas and Birthdays... It was a positive experience in my life but I seemed to have a propensity to wanna drink, be a badass and be a smartass with my terseness,party go to the titty bar, get Tattoos and train martial arts and MMA and Bang Hot chicks.. So when I left I did all those above things and went on a tear for 4 years dogging woman fighting, drinking became a bouncer got the tattoos I always wanted and made the money I always wanted to, instead of dedicating myself to the Lord:-\ Not to mention before I became a JW I was training hard in Jeet Kune Do and Filipino Martial Arts(Kali, Arnis, Dumog) and I wanted to compete in MMA as well since it just really started back in the mid 90's
so when I got out I went back into my instructor was like were the hell you been the last 10 years;D

My first encounter with the JW's I was sitting in my living room, and my dad right out of the blue, starts taking his clothes off, right down to his underwear. Not a pretty sight. We are sitting there going, wtf?!?!
He is looking out the window as he's doing it, and goes, "mind your own business."
Soon comes a knock on the door, and he opens it and they are standing there with the Watch Towers, and he is smiling and scratching hisself in nothing but his underwear. lol
Worked a charm. then quickly left and we haven't seen em since.

The trick is to tell them you are not interested... If you try to be funny or pretend that your not home, they come back cause they assume your not there, or if you take the literature to be nice of course they will comeback cause they assume your interested... I always preferred that people tell me no so that way I could concentrate on someone whao was intersted

I actually believe in it all, but just dont want to live up to the standards... I am hypocritcal in that sense were I do all the holidays and birthdays with my fiance' stepkids and my family but I dont believe in it...
