CHF,
Banal didn't give up. He gave his best, but Concepcion was the better man that night.
Mark my word AJ Banal will be a world champion in 2009.

I think people are getting a bit carried away...
I take my hat off to pac, i never liked the cunt. BUt after seeing how he handled him self and took apart oscar and how gracious he was i became a fan of his. But to say he could step in and destroy hatton is a fucking joke. I have given hatton a lot of shit, but i think he could give manny a hell of a night, and manny him.
Hatton still has some things to work on, but as long as he keeps him self in decent shape i see no reason for him beating Pac. Pac will be the smaller man, Hatton has good speed and damn good power too. He took a hell of a beating from Tszyu and never stopped. if he can come into the ring like that i favour him to beat back, maybe stop him. Pac had an easy night agasint oscar, de la hoya looked fucking clueless.

Re: Manny will tear Hatton to shreads
I have never thought this would be an easy fight for Hatton, I've always thought Manny's ability to fight off his back foot was underrated. However, people are forgetting just how fast Hatton is himself, I think Manny has troubles with him, because Hatton is fast enough to keep close to Manny where he can't get off his punch left hand. Manny can still flurry effectively, but if Hatton can get him on the ropes regularly then I think Pacquiao might have more troubles with Hatton, its the same reason I thought Hatton was more dangerous than Cotto or Margarito for Mayweather, and thats because footspeed and pressure are a bad combination to try and use footwork and boxing skills against. I still think Manny wins more often than not though.

He quit IMO.
He went down to a knee and shook his head as the ref counted to 10. He then got up immediately afterwards. Whether it was due to exhaustion or whatever, he quit. I'm sure he'll be able to come back, but he basically said 'No Mas'. He's still got a bright future though, no doubt about that.

Re: Manny will tear Hatton to shreads
After seeing what Pac-man did to the Golden Transvestite, I have no doubt that he would stop Hatton.
How many of those straight lefts could Ricky take?

Ricky would have a lot more offense than Oscar did and would be the bigger and stronger of the two on the night most probably. I'd love this fight to be made, it would be unreal at Wembley too. Would be a good last fight for Hatton.

I would go with Pacquio, its an interesting fight though.

Re: Manny will tear Hatton to shreads
This is a very good fight, Hatton still has good reflexes from what his last fight showed and will be very dangerous first 6 rounds.
Pac would have to play the part of the lion tamer again and then become the lion late. Hatton will not be able to maintain Manny's tempo so he will have to do good work early himself.
If it goes into the later rounds, Hatton will start getting bloodied and pummeled, so he would have to come out very strong and determined early and catch Manny.
Manny seems to be in his prime right now and looked incredible last night. Ricky's best days I believe are behind him so I have to favor Manny by late stoppage somewhere. Before that though Ricky will very much be in the fight and has the ability to rough Pac up if he can somehow catch up to him early. Ricky also has great footwork so he can make it interesting

oscar's weight DID have something to do with pac's overwhelming performance, not to mention it wasn't a prime de la hoya he was with up there. they can play that up and still have pac as the underdog going to hatton's territory.
No No NO...Make NO Excuses...I don't care if Oscar walked into the ring set in traction...This is a man who had an SD with PBF just a year ago...This is the man who sought Pacquiao out,,,This is a man who predicted a KO on his own behalf...a nab with a pretty sizable advantage.....
If by some chance weight played a part then that is on him...he should not have been so desperate for a big name win he went looking for the smallest guy he could find with the biggest name.....
He asked for it he got it.......
He was weighed..Measured...and Dealt with!!

Oscar last night was a pale shadow of the guy who fought Mayeather. He hardly landed a punch. His legs couldn't get him around fast enough anymore. I could have beaten Oscar last night, you can't judge anything about Manny from that fight.

Agree 100%.
Ricky is a banger and a joy to watch. But Ricky takes waaaay too many shots from guys nowhere near Pacquiao's level.
You won't find a bigger Hitman fan than me, but I do not want to see this fight any more than I wanted to see ODLH/Pac. Why? Cuz one of my boys is gonna get sparked.
This fight will NOT be competetive. Hatton looks decent for 2 rounds tops and gets completely decimated, most likely stopped, between 8 and 10 rounds.
There's only one Ricky Hatton! And I love him, but this would be the end for him.

Re: Manny will tear Hatton to shreads
You know what? I take that back.
This fight is over before the bell for 8 tolls.

Re: Manny will tear Hatton to shreads
pac retires hatton too.
hatton will eat not only the straight left but the manila ice. hatton is vulnerable to hooks and pac is one of the best hooker in the game right now. jab, hook, jab uppercut, straight left, right cross, left uppercut... down goes hatton..its over. wembley goes silent....hatton is david diaz'd falls flat on his face. ;D

I'm sick of people saying that.. Oscar was rubbish correct... But we can tell plenty about Manny from that fight.. He is as sharp at 145 as he is at 130.. As fast, powerful, sharp.... He's been totally f'd up in fights at lower weights, and still finished like a champ to get a decision..
He proved he is still the same man at 145 as he is at 130... Doesn't matter who he is in with to be able to see that... It's not like he's a C grade fighter.. He's P4P #1... All that was left to see was whether he was the same at higher weight as lower.. he is...
I don't think he can be counted at 147, but at 140 or 143 for a catch weight, why can't we say what he's capable of after his fight with Oscar.. He proved he is nothing less that the P4P number 1... And now he's 143 pounds....

Re: Manny will tear Hatton to shreads
I never genuinely believed there was even a slight chance that Manny Pacquiao could fight Ricky Hatton!
A couple of months ago it seemed ridiculous. But Manny just beat the shit out of Oscar Dela Hoya so i obviously need to change my perception of fighters who come up in weight.
Ive never comprehended the outcome of a Hatton/ Pacquiao fight. Never really compared them stylistically. But this fight is definitely gonna happen so im just overly excited!! ;D
I almost feel like im at a disadvantage here, like ''hang on, let me get me Pacquiao Disc Set out, i got some serious revision to do''!! ;D
Can i just make a point of saying that although it would be a great fight i would LOOOOOOOOVE to see Pac fight Floyd now.
That to me, this is the fight that makes all the sense in the world now. The fight of ALL fights!!! A REAL event.
Seeing Pac deal with Oscar like that. Youv'e gotta ask yourself... What must Floyd be thinking? ;)

British fighters never quit on their stools like gutless Americans Danny.
Stopped by cuts, knocked out by the ring post, battered in a bloody pulp and sparked with a single punch yes, but quit on our stools never
You're right..Say like a Zab Judah.I think if he just had the heart of a Mexican or a Filipino he may have been one of the greats of this generation.and Brit's and Irish fighters too.Micky Ward,,wayne Maccullough..what's up with these races being real warriors than these 'talented' but gutless americans. Mexicans are all infleunced by the macho culturesurrounding boxing.
Brits are infleunced by the massive pride they have in their counry.
Filipinos are motivated by the poverty they struggle to escape from.
And the Irish are motivated by the prospect of more drinking money.

1. he will get alot of money.
2. he has a chance of winning.
3. if he loses he loses to the very best.
Lets get it on !!!
Agreed.
I favor Pacman, but Hatton looked better in his fight against Paulie. And Hatton wouldn't go out on his stool - no way. If Hatton is going out, it is on his back.

You'd have the biggest ticket seller versus the biggest name in boxing which translates to a record breaking box office and interest from Europe to Asia.
Let's not get ahead of ourselves, but it could be one of the biggest fights of the last fifty years.

Re: Manny will tear Hatton to shreads
I agree that hatton could not beat pacman, but i think that pacman is no mayweather. People saying that mayweather will come out of retirement to be beaten by pacman have nothing to base their arguments on. I also think that Joe Calzaghe is the number one p4p at the moment and i know a lot of people will say hes not but joe has beat everyone he could beat at super middle weight and light heavy. Who eles is there really left for him to fight?
-
Re: Manny will tear Hatton to shreads
Hatton for me
as ive said time and time again too big and strong for pacquiao at 140 and unlike de la hoya would be able to cope with mannys pressurised style and use it to his advantage.
Has manny ever taken the sort of body punishment hatton would deliver
Has he ever been in with someone with hattons work rate and power combined!!!
Does he have the ability to win a fight of this magnitude on the backfoot (as he often failed to do against JMM)

I think there's truth to that... but the guy has the ability to shock and amaze.
I thought Oscar would bully him. But he bullied the bigger man into pure fear.
Ricky will come forward, and pac will shoot that straight left right up the gut then move laterally before Ricky even has the chance to open his eyes.
But I hope I'm wrong. I like Ricky a lot. One of my favorite fighters. But pac is simply superb. And frighteningly, he looks even better as he moves up in weight. IMO.

Re: Manny will tear Hatton to shreads
This fight was actually being talked about shortly after PAcman beat Diaz. I always thought it was an easy fight for Pacman. Hatton had been looking worse and worse in every fight, he didn't impress me against Lazcano, refuses to lead with his jab, looks to wrestle too much and never moves his head or defend.
I saw this fight as being very one sided for Manny who is a southpaw, won't stand still for hatton to wrestle with, will move in and out and throw lightning fast flurries upstairs - a area hatton doesn't seem to commit himself to defending.
It was an easy pick then, but hatton imo will prove alot of people wrong under Floyd Sr's tutelage. If he can prove he isn't the same hatton who was noticeably on his decline, then it will be a great fight.

And you dont think the beatdown of malignaggi was an indication of that??
Ok so hattons chin was never going to be really tested against paulie, but his ability to hurt a moving target and being able to stay on his man for 3minutes a round was there for all to see.
Hatton/Pac may just be that bit crazier than Oscar/pac because outside of the ring when they arent fighting pacquiao probably weighs no more than 130 odd while hatton balloons up to 180+

I personally think its a pickem fight.
