I am a Hatton fan, but he has no shot against Pacman. Manny is just too damn fast for him. It will be exciting but one-sided like this fight.

probably so. he didnt looks slow from all the extra weight and had enough power to make Oscar quit on his stool. so yea i agree.
I dont think Manny tears Hatton to shreds. At 140 I think it has the hallmarks of being a true classic. Its now a pick 'em for me.
Ricky would be way different story... Too early to tell, but I think it would be a tough match... Not a walk-in-the-park like on DLH
For sure.this is the type of fight that can be featured on ESPN classics 30yrs from now. I think Ricky has a ton of heart to quit on his stool.but he doesnt have the foot speed to move laterally to stay away from flurries. All he can do is to cover up when Pac is throwing bombs. I think his best chance is if he could work the body early and maul Pac until he softens and go for the KO late. But I doubt it considering Pac's conditioning for every big fight and to his new found defense and elusiveness. I think it would be a competitive fight but Hatton would get the worst of the exchanges. And would be busted up late in the fight. It would be an insult to compare his skills to David Diaz but I thiink like Diaz's who has big heart he would keep fighting until you knock him out.
An empty can is always noisy.
It's funny how this fight was a complete mismatch in favour of Hatton until about 5 hours ago, now Hatton gets destroyed.
The integrity of boxing fans eh![]()
make the fight it will be a classic , Manny will start as favorite but bring it on.
Exactly.. I had to dig up the thread from a few days ago that was "Hatton would Maul Pacquaio"... Hatton v Pac sounded like a great matchup to me even before there was talk of Pac v Oscar...
What we know now is Pac is as sharp at 140 at his lower weights,, and weight can't play a part anymore in deciding how he'll do against any light welters..

I suspect Hatton was thinking the same as me when watching the fight last night, shit Pac would be a tough fight. Add to that Hatton's difficulty with southpaws and it adds to the excitement.
What everybody is forgetting though is that when the whole 'Hatton would destroy Pacquaio' threads came up months back Manny hadn't even fought at LW. Common sense says he wouldn't be able to compete at 140.
Hindsight is a good thing though now ay? cus clearly he can compete!
This fight could be an absolute hall of famer, I give Rick the slight edge.

The one I dug up re Hatton tearing Pac up was from 2 weeks ago... But you're right on and I think we can all agree that Pac can be considered now a genuine 140 pound fighter.. Not because he beat Oscar so convincingly who brought nothing to the table, but because he looked as sharp as he has at any lower weight, and in many ways has improved his movement....
It just makes 140 to 147 more exciting and there are at least 5 to 10 fighters that would be great for Pac to fight at 140 and 147...

Pacquiao would also make Hatton quit on his stool or he would get knocked the phuk out. If Paulie was able to do damage to Hatton's pink little face, just imagine what Pac would do to that azz. Hatton would not last 8 rounds either. Hatton said he was the best at 140? LMAO! Pac would come in to the 140 division, azz rape Hatton and take his little trinket from him faster than a rabbit gets phuked![]()
I don't neccassarily see it like that.
Hatton's style, no matter how defensively inept is less "open" than De la Hoya. Oscar for long periods waked forward without a jab or feint, where he was tagged easily. Hatton would attempt to get inside and maraud Pac.
It's a style I can see potentially working

Exactly, points well made.
Pac didnt just beat Oscar he had him unable to come out for anymore punishment. He has definitely brought his pop up with him. He looked fine with the weight.
It has to be said that offensively Oscar was crap though. Apart from a couple of body shots Pac wasnt really tested. I have no doubts that Ricky will land a lot more than that.
I hope it comes off because its an intriguing mix of styles.
