You are not getting old Sharla
Me on the other hand,Im getting old
Thanks TM, I don't think you're getting old yet either.
Really i think i'm choosing to live in denial about the whole aging process.
I've decided I'm not gonna get to old until it creeps up on me.
My last flatmate had a friend in her eighties who was doing volunteer work in Africa only months before she passed away.
I wanna be like that - active right up until it's as close as possible to my time to go and then I wanna be pretty damn old.

Ya kidding me,I get an arthritic crack for every five steps;D
As I was coming up the stairs to type this,my toe cracked loud enough to frighten the cats.
I can still hunker down and bring it,but it takes some hunkering and centering to get this old car in gear now

Most definitely not.
I may be older, but I looked at proper adulthood and decided Id take a pass. My newest toy is a tattoo kit. I can do adult things, but I can also be really childish, its one of the things Feur loves about me,and spends her life in dread of.
Within 15 minutes I can create a gourmet dinner, and then demand she sees this really cool play I pulled off on Madden on the PS. Ive had to turn down Hardcore Punk songs so I can have serious boxing negotiations on the phone, actually that last one happens almost daily.

i don't think talking will do any good with that boy, if he is like that at 17, then he is a lost cause. Man at that age i was already out clubbing, Fake I.D, 5 E's and enough cash to get my ass home. Shit, there were countles times i remember dragging my ass home at 6am monday morning, Shower, change, puke and on the boss to Neath college, sit up the back most of the morning on a come down, head over 'spoons for a pint lunch time and pick right back up for the afternoon lectures.
I think it was more fun getting shit faced as a kid though, back when your 15 and even with a Fake I.D aint nobody gunna believe your 18. Hanging around the shops finding some older gril to get you drink (didn't trust the guys they fucking tax your money and i was a charmer as a kid, choppsy as fuck - didn't give a fuck for anybody, seemed to work well with the olde girls, they would always get me ddrink, couldn;t get anything else out of them though not for lack of trying i can assure you haha
then off down the park then, or under the closed library with a 4 pack of fucking super white lightning with your mates and the local slappers. Cost you a tenner at the most. Now that what it cost to get a frigging round in, looking at easy 200+ £ for a good night out now. Crazy shit; still no fucking excuse for a 17 year old to be making excuses not to drink though.

Re: the people who stay in on friday nights...
Such crap really.
It's always insecure people who wanna gang up on others as if they are not up to scratch with their lifestyle - not 'cool' enough.
Insecure about yourself and your own lifestyle therefore you need the company and want to peer pressure others into the same choices you made.
Lefty has things he's into they're just not the same as what you're into.
I don't see any good reason why what you're into is any better but i can think of many a reason your lifestyle could be worse for you in the long run and i can promise you it would bore me shitless!
Leave him alone.

I agree its absolute nonsense my dad who has passed away, was a drunk and he would get pissed mostly every night. Which is the reason he and my mom got divorced. And also the reason i had a bad falling out with him and its also the reason he wasn't living with us.
I say good on Lee im 19 and i don't drink either and do you blame me ? and why should i ? to follow what everyone else is doing ? i ain't no sheep i'll do what i want i don't follow anyone. I don't see the enjoyment of getting pissed everynight when you don't even what your doing in that state.
Does that mean you have to be out of your head to be a fun person ? because you can't do it in your normal state ? and who wants to wake up feeling like shit and puking ? i say stuff that for a game of toy soliders IMO. Just because i don't drink doesn't mean im not a fun person, and im doing pretty well without it and i live a perfectly heathly life style.
One last message to Lee don't listen to these people on here, take it from me don't do anything you don't want to do. And don't let people force you to do anything you don't want to do, you sound like a good lad with good sense so good on you.

Totally agree with you mate.
It's not what I want to do and I won't do it. I don't do anything just because my friends do. My friends know that. I hate alcohol, it's absoloutely vile. I've never touched drugs, tobacco etc and never will. I'm worth more than that crap.
People can say my life is boring but it ain't. I'm in a good college and I'm predicted top grades in my A-Levels. The world is my oyster really. I can choose most jobs because of the grades I'm getting.
I've got my driving test soon and I'm going to buy a car in a few weeks. I have a part time job as well and I've got a healthy bank account with a lot of savings. Most 17yr olds by me are broke big time. I'm always hanging out with girls as well and I have a good social life. I get asked to partys all the time. In 2009 I'm going to Perth, Australia for 3 months to hang out with my cousin. I can't wait for that. In 2009 I'm also doing a tour of the US for my 18th.
Until Preme meets me in real life he can't judge me on nothing. If anybody met me on here I'm really laid-back. Always making jokes. Not the typical scouse lad but it's good to be unique.
And Preme I find it laughable you trying to give me advice. I don't need advice from you. My life is fine. Look where getting pissed each night got you. Your basic English skills are certainly upto standard with spelling, NOT

Re: the people who stay in on friday nights...
It's one thing not to drink but you don't have to brag about it, geez isn't that the type of stuff you keep otl?
Haha I'm only kidding (if anyone is talking to me), different strokes though I will say in real life when I hear people who don't do shit talk about how empowered they are from not doing anything then I get super annoyed. Save me it please.
Also Lefty if you come to America I genuiinely want you to visit the West Coast, I think it would be a great experience. Hit me up or something but just know that California is better then the rest of America so this is where you should come.

Re: the people who stay in on friday nights...
while i understand that the vast majority of people, and specifically kids our age and in college drink, you don't have to consider yourself a "sheep" if you do..
i mean, if it sucked, then why would people do it? It's almost an oxy-moron.. people do it because they enjoy it and have fun while they drink.. I don't drink because my friends do, i drink because i enjoy being drunk.. but that doesn't mean that if you don't drink i'm making fun of you, nor should i get the same in return just because you don't drink.. I just think we all need to respect each others lifestyles..
i mean, you could have the most profitable company in the world having a christmas party, with no one in the room making less than six figures, and there will be alcohol and people getting drunk.. it's just a social tool many people use.. no harm as long as it's not abused.
i think it's funny that i'm defending alcohol :D

Re: the people who stay in on friday nights...
ooh, some mighty self righteous posting here from the squeaky clean crowd. Don't pat yourself on the back too soon lefty. This world is your oyster crap is yet to be seen. Maybe, maybe not. Your pick of all the good jobs? Good grades does not automatically mean success in career, despite what your teachers may say. High school is the easy part. Best of luck.

Re: the people who stay in on friday nights...
Also most people don't smoke or drink because everybody else does it they do it because it's fucking fantastic which it is but of course everything has to be in moderation. You don't drink because you feel shitty the next morning you do it so you feel great that night.
I can see how one would not want to pop 5 in a night or why you wouldn't want to rail a bunch or smoke chewey like a motherfuckin nut. Still, doing that stuff just makes you crazy not a sheep. Later yall, OFF TO SMOKE AND DRINK HAHAAH

Why?
How many threads do we hear of you or preme bragging about how shitfaced you are or have been in recent times?
Why should anyone feel ashamed of not being a drinker?

Why not - everyone should try to feel that way - you included. How can you ever work hard towards going and getting what you want -regardless of what it is - if you don't believe that?

It's not self righteous at all. Amat and Preme wanted to gang up on Lefty for not being a drinker. All we did was defend his right not to be one.
I also think it's pretty targeted - lets pick on the 17 year old and tell him his life is boring but don't touch the multitude of other people who have posted on here saying they prefer a quiet night etc. Target the young one because everyone else is a bit older and more established in their choices.

Here we go - you initiate a pay out directed at Lefty for not drinking and suddenly now you're on the defensive about your own lifestyle. What was it I said about insecure people?
He has the right to justify his choices as does Nonito and as do I if you attack them. You and Preme are the ones who said our choices were pathetic to begin with.
You can enjoy drinking anfd that's fine. i'm not the type to have more than a small amount - a small amount makes me fieel tipsy and it' nice around good friends or family in a safe environment.
On the other hand more than a little makes me feel inebriated and i hate that feeling. I genuinely don't enjoy it. To me it's not fantastic at all.
My experience of things can be just as individual as anything else. This is basically like people walking into a restaurant and dissing other people for not ordering what they would have on the menu. None of your business whether Lefty likes to drink or not.

I didn't think they were really picking on him, just busting his balls a bit. There's a big difference.
As for the self righteous part, I guess I saw a little more in it than you did. Maybe too much? Sure defend your rights to live your life as you see fit. No objection from me. But being a teatotaler doesn't automatically make you a success nor does being a drinker or a toker (within reason) make you a failure. Nor does it make you a better person than the other guy. That's where I was coming from.
-
Re: the people who stay in on friday nights...
I rotate weekends. Which means every other weekend I got my 3 sons. Them weekends I'm either at the movies, the park or chilling at the house playing PS3 or 360 with them. Them other weekends I'm out in the night looking for my next one night stand.

Yeah I agree. I also think success is difficult to measure really. I think it depends a lot on what you wanna be rather than what other people rate.
Especially now having almost finished my PhD I'm realizing most of the jobs i think i'd be happy doing into never required a PhD.
Also a lot of people who've spent fewer years studying than me will have more secure jobs than i could ever hope for.
A friend of mine who is possibly the smartest person I know finished her PhD and has since decided after one postdoctoral job she's happiest just being a housewife looking after her young son.
Sometimes the stereotypical ideas of what is right and successful and make you happy couldn't be more full of BS.
I do however think the same logic applies to what makes for personally satisfying ways to spend your spare time too.
I'm still working it out as I go and i won't pretend to have all the answers but i do think the answers are always going to be slightly different for every individual.
-
Re: the people who stay in on friday nights...
Sharla jeez there is no way I can do this right now.
I'm just kidding with Lefty I think he knows that and I'm definitely not one to encourage everyone to drink or even brag about it. It might seem that way sometimes but I assure you it wouldn't be fair to judge me off what I post on this board. I try to post just obnoxiously as possible but not really, um I don't know how to describe it. Now I'm talking about real life damn it.
Was just kidding with Lefty and everyone most of my posts carry considerable overtones whether sarcasm or whatever it is. Besides any chance I can get to make fun of Lefty and Ice in one pop is an opportunity I'm going to take no matter what scorn I draw from you.

Re: the people who stay in on friday nights...
Also more to CGM's post, I totally agree. There are plenty of ways to be successful while balancing your vices. The President now is a cigarette smoker, a modern day cigarette smoking president it's surprising.
That's beside the point. But I can live a happy life while being responsible and have set priorities even when I do smoke or drink. I'm obviously not going to smoke at times where being high would be detrimental to my success in life.
On the other hand, there are soooo many people I know who would be served better by weed then other stuff like anxiety pills antidepressants, I hate those things and for me those would be so much worse for me then other things.
Some people are sober, sucessful and very just miserable in themselves just like some people are high all the time and just slackers. I have both spectrums in my own family so there is a way to reach a balance without being insecure which I'm definitely not.

I dunno about people with anxiety issues being better served by weed. You are treading on dangerous ground amat. While I do have some concerns about pills that doctors prescribe that affect your brain chemistry, I also know that many people benefit from them. I will also say that people who have any kind of issue with brain chemistry, such as clinical depression or bipolar or schizophrenia, should think twice, or three or four times, before they smoke weed. If the head issues a person has are medical in nature, weed can easily make things worse. It depends on what ails you. Be careful

i disagree only from my own experiences.. If i smoke weed i freak out, EVERY time.. it lasts almost 24 hours and i've hallucinated once or twice.. so i will never touch it again.. i don't even like being in the same car as people smoking, or same room just because i'm so scared of feeling that way again.. It makes my anxiety 32093209 times worse..
on the other hand, taking sedatives like klonopin, etc make me real calm but there is sort of a hangover i experience that is really weird to explain but i hate that also.. So i basically just try to cope with things.. to be honest alcohol calms my anxiety even though it is a depressant.. obviously the next day i'm a bit more depressed than usual but i cope.. I try to stay off any pills, and if anything i'll take some melatonin before i'm ready to go to bed to help me fall asleep.

I try to stay off any pills, and if anything i'll take some melatonin before i'm ready to go to bed to help me fall asleep.
I'm with you on this one. When it comes to nerves, alcohol works far better than weed, for me anyways. I also have my doubts about pills, only because you can become dependant, also if you go off the pills you can be much worse than you ever were before the pills. Coping is better, if you can. But that's just me. A lot of people swear by their pills. Whatever works for you I guess.

That's were I'm going.
Santa Monica, Los Angeles, Hollywood.
I think I'm going to San Francisco as well.
Lefty is coming to visit Violent D. By the way, Amat is right. California is better than rest of America. Bottom line. California is America,
Yeah man. You better have some Cali whores lined up for when I arrive. I'll need something to cheer me up after the long flight.

i disagree only from my own experiences..

Maybe I was wrong on the weed, I never get nervous when I'm high just occasionally paranoid about getting caught. But seriously some people on pills turn into completely different people it's creepy. I don't have any general anxiety, depression or nervous issues either in fact sometimes I think it's just the opposite. If that's possible.

That's a common phrase in the UK "The World is your oyster".
Getting decent grades in your A levels doesnt mean you can choose most jobs in the world. In fact it means you can start low down and try and work your way up somewhere.
I got 2 A's at A level and here I am 10 years later finishing my MA trying to get my perks.;D

If i can give any advice, at least from an American stand point.. grades don't mean shite.. It's all about experience.. The only things grade matters on are certifications, meaning, you have to score a certain grade to get the certification..
Not to say that it's not a good idea to do well in school, because if you are doing well then you are learning new skills, but i wouldn't consider the fact that i was getting A's being a deciding factor in an employers decision to hire me.. The way i see it, my schooling put me in a position to understand the training i will receive at a job i am hired at, it gave me the basic tools i need to become successful.

Grades dont mean too much. Not at UK A level anyway. It wont give you a career defining job.
