Re: Kahn v Barrera???
Barrera being one of mexicos finest for a long time IMO will beat Amir Khan. I full respect Khan for this fight, in all honesty I was expecting another stiff! If Khan can use his advantages I wouldnt be surprised if he can give Barrera a good fight. But Barrera can still punch and with his last loss only coming to Pac I am really really surprised Warren wants this fight.
Khan must have looked really good in training because this is a risky move IMO, I will be watching it for sure. If Khan can take what barrera can give you never know, with his youth he could beat him. At 35 years old Barrera wont be nearly as good as what most people rememberd him to be. With the fight being 135 it will also be out of Barreras normal weightclass. Lets see what happens, I dont believe this fight will happen until they are both in the ring ;D

Classic up and coming boxer against past his best former world champ.
Well done to Kahn and Warren for making it happen.

its like one of these situations where.. sure khan.. your young and strong and you could be the future..
i want him to do well..
But NOT against my guy..
Barrera is my man.. Hes a legend, and losing CLOSELY (ornotatall) to marquez and giving a better showing then before in a loss to p4p king manny pacquiao is no reason for me to think hes slipped.. i just cant see khan taking him out and barrera's heart and skill i think will be there till the end..
barrera being the smaller guy probably stops him but not in a tall prescott bombing out fashion..
Probably in a fierce morales - barrera 3 fashion when the accumulation and a couple clean shots take away khans legs in limmond knockdown fashion..
happens inside 6 for me :):)
Kinda agree never been a Khan fan but there is one person i would not want my hero to lose to and thats Khan
i just cannt see it happening
i need some answers to my thoughts on this one
1 is MAB shot? maybe but i still think there is enough left to beat this pretender!!
2. He not long ago went 12 rounds with P4P fighter in the world
was he just surving or trying to better the previous match?
watching that performance again has he still got what it takes hell yea;D
MAB wins either KO early or masive ud using every trick in the book.
Would i travel to UK for this my god yes :allhail:

haha, i think the best thing kahn can hope for here is to lose a war and at least gain some respect. i cant see him beating barerra, it would be wrong but if he were to lose a war and then barerra went on to win a title prehaps kahn would still become a star. remember barerra did go 12 rounds with pac the last time he lost, he aint no de la hoya lol.
seriously tho credit to both men, this fight could end either of them, and props to warren to! altho did sky push him for a real ppv fight?>

Re: Kahn Barerra Is On Lmao
I'll take a seemingly past it Barrera against a yet to be realized Khan 8 days out of a 7 day week.....Via TKO :fight:
-
Re: Kahn v Barrera???
well. define shot? Fall over like Morales? I don't see that happening. Not having the same pace as 10 years ago? I don't doubt that.
If - Khan can keep dancing on the outside and pot shottingfor 12 then yes, there is a possibility of him winning. He does have a good number of things in his favour, youth, speed and natural size.
Barrera is Barrera :p
Part of me thinks this will never happen. I may have to check my own sources.

Re: Kahn Barerra Is On Lmao
Bet Khan wins. In the same way I KNEW he would beat Kindelan and Pac would beat DLH, if yout gte my meaning ;)
-
Re: Kahn v Barrera???
This looks to be one hell of a match. I see Khan as improved, and Barrera being a bit up there in age, makes for a very close and competitive fight.
The match is a defining moment for either fighter. I can imagine a win or a loss will pretty much show doors opening or closing for the MAB, or Amir.
It’s a coin flip I'm one with reluctance to toss. I want to see more of Amir Khan. His eye-opening experience from the Roach camp proved him a worthy warrior of great character. He will be a valuable asset to the boxing world if and when he progressively moves onward. The reluctance for me is the possibility of a loss for Barrera. I will view it with sadness if another great warrior will come to terms with physical limitations, that only ageing can dictate. If proven wrong, this one I will accept with a welcome surprise.
At this juncture, I am unconvinced of either fighter’s advantage over the other. At a later stage, logic will surely find its way to my line of thinking.

Behave H. Have you seen the humiliating beating Oscar took?
You may be right about this one though. Especially if a FAT Barrera turns up. ;)

come on khan it is your chance to silence the doubters

Re: Kahn v Barrera???
Warren says in the presser that it was Roch who said to Khan that Barrera would be a perfect fight for him and at a perfect time.....
Is he related in anyway to Jorge Rubio ;D
Make no mistake here people...Khan can win this if he goes into the ring with his boxing head on and sticks to his gameplan.
All the advantages are with Khan if he boxes at range - No Question about it!

What would be the one sure way to get Khan's rep back up... beat a legend! There is no way on earth he is risked against a 'wanting to win' Barrera, when another loss ruins his career

Re: Kahn Barerra Is On Lmao
MAB maybe my favorite fighter of all time if he could beat Amir Khan, then he would of beaten both Amir Khan, Naseem Hamed. I would love that to happen COME ON MAB.

Misssy was saying the same earlier but can he box at range all 12
This is about MAB? right?
Not only is he a master of the ring he also has more machismo then Khan will ever have Barrera will come to win make no mistakes, however i am well aware of Roachs influence going into this fight the worst for me would truly be Khans hand being raised at the end of 12 rounds.
Edge of seat stuff and maybe a lot of sadness if he were to lose:(

No it isn't Amir Khan has one chance and thats no chance at all. MAB looked pretty decent in his comeback fight, and he also fought well in his previous fights against Pacquiao 2, JMM, Juarez 2, i still believe MAB has alot left in the tank and he will stop Amir Khan in the 6th.

Re: Kahn Barerra Is On Lmao
I cant believ i've just read thsi in todays paper.Im very surprised that Khan is up for this fight.Freddie Roach must know something is wrong with Barrera,is he weak or pasted it??I think Khan is bitten more than he can chew again here, unless Barerra is going to take a dive and propel Khan back into the lime light. The fight is question to be held in either London 02 arena or manchester's MEN arena or even Cardiff's Millenium Stadium on 14 march this year.If Barerra is really hungry for this fight then he'll smash Khan up badly up close.Dont get me wrong i like Khan as a boxer but to fight Barerra as he makes his long awaited come back is really risky!!!!Roach must know something:-\

Re: Kahn Barerra Is On Lmao
Wow. My initial thought is that this is way too soon for Khan. Barrera's on the slide a bit, but he's still a very, very good fighter.
I'm actually going to be cheering for Khan, all the hate directed at him has made me like him, go figure...
Barrera by TKO.

He's just done two terrible PPVs. A risk is probably unavoidable.
If the fix is on - they best instill into Barrera just how china Khans chin is ;D

And Barrera lets him win ;D

Re: Kahn v Barrera???
That's the problem with Khan at the end of the day....he loves to fight toe to toe but against a granite chinned Warrior is always gonna end up horizontal;D
He could well just get sucked in by the atmosphere and go at Barrera which is when it's all over really.
No way he can trade with MAB and stay upright for long;)
He just hasn't got it in him.

Re: Kahn v Barrera???
This is a masive gamble by Warren. Another early KO and Khan is more or less finished. Khan signed a big money multifight deal with Warren just before the Prescott KO and I wonder if Frank has a get-out clause in the contract if Khan loses two fights. He probably got rubbish PPV numbers for Khan's last outing so if he does have the clause this fight is a win-win and it would explain why Warren made it. If Khan wins he's box office again, if he loses Warren makes a ton out of him from this massive fight and gets to cancel the rest of the contract.
I'm sure Frank is happy to do this but I wonder how keen Khan really is for this fight. :)

That sounds about right. It surely has something to do with the last two crap PPVs?
I don't believe for a second Warren really believes Khan will be a dominant "world" champ - if he ever gets there at all ;)

It would certainly explain a lot wouldn't it? I mean if Khan gets sparked early in such a high profile fight (definite possibility, let's face it :) ) then he's got no PPV earning/serious ticket selling potential for at least the rest of his current contract and probably for ever. So this just doesn't make sense unless Warren can cancel his contract or seriously renegotiate the numbers (much more likely) if Khan loses two fights during it. If Khan wins he gets his bandwagon going again, the man who beat the man who beat Naz. He's a big attraction in his own right. If he loses Warren gets to pay him a fraction of his current earnings and his name on the card helps sell Warren's forthcoming British Olympian promotions.

Re: Kahn Barerra Is On Lmao
Unfortunately, I dont think Barrera will carry much power to lightweight. Hes on the way down, and Khan is a strong lightweight on his way up. Even though Barrrera is the greater fighter without question, I think Kahn uses his footwork and jab to win a decision. I cant see Kahn taking to many chances, but he has respectable enough power to keep Barrera at bay. Hopefully Im wrong and MAB tests his chin early.
-
Re: Kahn Barerra Is On Lmao
Mab is still an elite fighter, he only lose to elite fighters and kahn is not an elite fighter. I said kahn made a good move training with freddie roach but this move here im not too sure of. Atleast he has freddie and pac to guide him on how to beat mab. Props to kahn and mab for taking this fight, it should be an interesting bout.

Re: Kahn Barerra Is On Lmao
Sometimes I just don't understand this forum.. you slag off Khan for fighting no names then when he decides to step it up you still bash him? ffs. Then again it happens alot on this forum, pac got shit for wanting to face oscar, Haye is getting shit for wanting to face vitali/wlad..
But on the flipside this forum also has a very bad prediction record.. most said cotto would beat margarito, most said pavlik would destroy hopkins, and most said oscar would bully pac man around the ring like silly - and we all know what happened in these fights.

Who's going off about this fight ? i just read through all the posts. And all people have said is they basically want Amir Khan to get smashed, which i do aswell because i don't like him. No one has said this is a bad fight i think your going a bit over the top.
And your last comment is just a wind up its easy to say bad prediction this and that. With hindsight but i'd love to dig out your old posts, and see if you thought the same aswell. We have some of the most knowledgable posters here, you can't always get it right.

If Barrera doesnt kill Amir in the ring then I will kill someone leaving the arena. I wouldnt be able to stand seeing my idol get beat by Amir khan. If he ends Barreras career Ill be shocked and very angry
