Re: Michael Moore's "Capitalism"
Bill Maher, either you agree with him or he thinks you're a moron, and that is hypocritical and when he gets called out on it he gets his feelings hurt or he tries to lamely play it off with a joke.

Re: Michael Moore's "Capitalism"
I'm not watching videos, you need to explain a specific instance of him being hypocritical. That's where your actions contradict your words. Here's an example of somebody being a hypocrite :
The right-wing American commentator Rush Limbaugh has blamed the National Football League Players Association, the media and "race hustlers", such as Al Sharpton, for his being ousted from a bid to purchase the St Louis Rams.
Limbaugh was quoted on Bloomberg.com as having said on his talk radio show that unfair media coverage and pressure from Sharpton and Jesse Jackson, two black clergyman and civil-rights leaders whom he called "race hustlers", had contributed to the failure of his interest in the Rams.
The Guardian
16 October 2009
"So Much for the Post-Racial America. That's how Rush treats people — in the Martin Luther King aspiration that the content of one's character is what matters, not the color of one's skin. Yet, in the media narrative, he's somehow the one who's got a race issue — and the guys who trade on race, live and breathe it 24/7, are held up as our public conscience."

As I explained on my radio show, this spectacle is bigger than I am on several levels. There is a contempt in the news business, including the sportswriter community, for conservatives that reflects the blind hatred espoused by Messrs. Sharpton and Jackson. "Racism" is too often their sledgehammer. And it is being used to try to keep citizens who don't share the left's agenda from participating in the full array of opportunities this nation otherwise affords each of us. It was on display many years ago in an effort to smear Clarence Thomas with racist stereotypes and keep him off the Supreme Court. More recently, it was employed against patriotic citizens who attended town-hall meetings and tea-party protests.
These intimidation tactics are working and spreading, and they are a blight on our society.

Re: Michael Moore's "Capitalism"
You bring up two other very big hypocrits Jesse Jackson and Al Sharpton. They have outrage at WHITE PEOPLE for using racist terms when they themselves have used and continue to use horrible racist terms including the word nigger but I guess that's ok for them to use as they are black but that is the dumbest fucking idea ever "You can't use that word only WE can use that word".....bullshit.
Kirkland you obviously hold yourself and your views in very high regard, but Jesse Jackson and Al Sharpton are racists, not in my opinion but judging them by their own standards and that makes them hypocrits and yes Rush Limbaugh has every right to be angry at them for ending his run at being in a group to buy the St. Louis Rams because they used a quote that was unconfirmed. Your quotes prove nothing...at least to me, I've heard those quotes in context and I see nothing to prove you correct.
Do you think Henry Louis Gates was in the right when he accused that police Officer of racism? After hearing the details of what happened the majority of people in America would be more on Rush's side than yours.
Sonya Sotomayor did say some very strange things regarding race. It seemed as if she couldn't say something positive about her being hispanic without first bashing white people and their "life experiences".

Kinda lame Kirk. I didn't watch any of the videos but don't ask him to show you how maher is a hypocrite and then dismiss them. Your M.O. is all about demanding people to back up their statements. Lyle provided a video. I dont' know whether it actually backs up his statement or not but its kind of "hypocritical" to simply dismiss them. I also don't see how saying what Rush is or isn't as being relevant to what Maher is or isn't. Seems more like a distraction or deflection of the actual question.

"I'm a libertarian, which means I'm against the government doing almost anything" - Bill Maher
And yet Bill Maher is OK with the US Government: tightening gun laws to the point where people aren't allowed to have any guns; running banks, healthcare, and car companies.....so basically he's not a libertarian at all and he's for the government running a lot of things.

Sorry to hijack my own thread, but why on earth is this Capitalism film unavailable? There are no signs of it ever coming to Korea and it has shown no sign of surfacing online.

I'm a libertarian, which means I'm against the government doing almost anything. But citizens having arsenals? No, that is the kind of rough stuff I would like the government to get involved in....It just seems the debate, --you know, they will not give an inch. There are many attempts to pass a law in states just requesting a limit of buying one gun a month, and it doesn't pass. People are like, "What about Christmas?" I mean, one gun a month. If you started when you were 18, by the time you were 60 that's over a thousand guns. I don't care how small your penis is, that should be enough guns.

You can be a Republican and support abortion, it doesn't make you a hypocrite. You can believe in a whole smorgasbord of things that various political groups support and it doesn't make you a hypocrite. I'm sure there's something the GOP stand for that you don't agree with, something that you hold a liberal opinion on, but that doesn't make you a hypocrite in the same way that Bill Maher isn't a hypocrite for not being a doctrinaire libertarian. What makes you a hypocrite is when you, say, attack and criticise other people for race-baiting and always bringing racism into any argument, claim that this kind of behaviour is a blight on society etc. while at the same time being probably the best-known race-baiter/racism-as-stock-in-trade individual in America. Like Rush Limbaugh is. That's hypocrisy.

When you post something factually correct you'll have a chance of winning an argument. But you'll never beat me in an argument because you never use facts and evidence. When did Bill Maher support the government running the banks or the car companies? An actual quote please, answer using facts only and no fucking videos.

Re: Michael Moore's "Capitalism"
You two are outrageous. This is a thread about Michael Moore, the moral guardian of the self destructing USA. I hereby order you to go and get a room and a packet of extra strong durex! :D:p
In response to my last posting in this thread I would like to say to myself and anyone who is interested, you can now find a camera version of "Capitalism" on The Pirate Bay here:
Capitalism: A love story (real) [CAM] (download torrent) - TPB
I haven't watched it yet and am not too sure of the quality, but I am downloading it now and can't wait to watch it. I can't believe there are people that think Moore is the devil and that things are really okay economically. It's quite the opposite, fucked in fact. But the media is full of propaganda and people will believe whatever they are spoonfed, I guess.

Re: Michael Moore's "Capitalism"
I've downloaded half, the quality isn't perfect but it's quite watchable.

Changing your mind doesn't make you a hypocrite. It should be impossible for any libertarian to have lived through the financial crisis and still think ending all government regulation of the financial industry is a good idea, so if he now thinks the government should be doing more regulating then that just makes him smart, not a hypocrite. What you need to do to demonstrate hypocrisy is to show something like this :
The right-wing American commentator Rush Limbaugh has blamed the National Football League Players Association, the media and "race hustlers", such as Al Sharpton, for his being ousted from a bid to purchase the St Louis Rams.

Kirkland, he didn't change his mind he has ALWAYS been a LIBERAL and never been a libertarian.
What the fuck are you trying to prove with this Rush Limbaugh stuff??? Let me be plain as fucking day with you....how many times has Jay-Z said the N word? More or less than Rush Limbaugh? He is part owner of the New Jersey Nets and nobody has batted an eye about that.....so you can take that little liberal chip off your shoulder

Right there in the video you won't bother to watch is Jay-Z being a racist and yet he still owns the New Jersey Nets.

That bold and underlined part is what we like to call a double entendre which means (because I know you're too slow to understand), that a phrase has two meanings, in this case #1 White Lies - deliberate untrue statements not meant to cause harm #2 WHITE lies - meaning untrue statements made by people of Caucasian race.

#2 I quoted Maher saying that he considered himself a libertarian and then I quoted him saying things that contradicted the view point of ANYONE considering themselves a libertarian

Re: Michael Moore's "Capitalism"
Capitalism is a very good film and I think even Lyle should give it a chance. It's not about vacuous political party allegience, but about a bunch of heartless fuckwits screwing up everything for everyone no matter what the cost...which was of course tax payer money and a rising and uncontrollable debt to the rest of the world. Surely, left or right people all agree that what has passed has been throughly lacking in accountability and responsibility. It was tough for Moore to tackle this film because it is an area that reaches out into so many areas, but on the whole he does a very good job. And you cannot doubt that his heart is in the right place.
I'm sure you will get some brainless twits muttering about 'facts', but you cannot really argue with the 'fact' that Americans have been right royally screwed up the bum for a long, long time.
I recommend the film to anyone with a conscience or a pulse. It's a good watch whether you agree or disagree with the message.

I can't take any more of your FACTS Lyle. Facts only from now on please if you want a reply.
And stop being so hypersensitive to anything you think is racist from a black person, it's like you're the white Al Sharpton. I see no racism in what the rapper had to say and I'm sure only people like Limbaugh can see the racism there. The fact remains that the world in general and the NBA in particular don't see any problem with anything he said, unlike the NFL with the race-baiter Limbaugh.

The heartless fuckwits would be the politicians, right? Say what you like about people running Wall Street, they're not fuckwits. They are heartless though. Michael Moore will be doing a sequel to this film in a year or ten in which he'll wonder why the government not only bailed the banksters out but didn't bring in any effective regulation and gave them trillions of taxpayer money to play with which eventually led to the future even bigger meltdown that the next film will chronicle.

When I say "fuckwit" it is more a general term of abuse for all those who just don't care about what they have planted. I apply the term liberally to all of those who have helped bring about what has been going on. It's not really an attack on intelligence. Those Wall Street people are clearly no fools, whence the power they are able to exert.

Surely, left or right people all agree that what has passed has been throughly lacking in accountability and responsibility. It was tough for Moore to tackle this film because it is an area that reaches out into so many areas, but on the whole he does a very good job. And you cannot doubt that his heart is in the right place.

I know I'm quoting myself which is gay, but I shall proceed nonetheless.
I agree totally about the lack of regulation. It is totally insane. There appear to be no checks and balances and this money is given to them by the government from the working people who are experiencing the worst economic crisis since the great depression. This is some nutty shit and I don't know how anyone can defend what has been going on here.

It's hard to believe it's happening. They're guaranteeing an even bigger meltdown in the future, putting the entire financial system in question. It's actually going to have to collapse before it's reformed. Everybody currently making policy and everybody involved over the past decade should be immediately jailed, that's just for starters. Nobody's money is safe in the current system.

Yeah I'm sure you can't....where are your FACTS and evidence...I not only posted FACTS I posted VIDEO evidence just to give you the double whammy.
I'm sure your ego is bruised, you usually resort to this childish behavior when you've been bested in debate....fine, b*tch and complain about my facts all you want, I posted facts AND videos and all you've done is call Rush Limbaugh a race baiter by doing exactly what the media did and using his quotes out of context and even that doesn't matter because I bested you there as well by using Jay-Z as an example and if you don't appreciate that example then you're guilty of using a double standard and that makes you an even bigger asshole (if possible) than normal.
Kirk, respond to me when you're ready to admit that you were wrong and that you just got your ass handed to you in this debate...if you want to just ask around, I'm sure somebody will tell you the truth, whether you believe it or not is another question, but until then have fun trying to block this entire thread out of your memory

Changing your mind does not make you a hypocrite. And that's a fact. What part of this don't you understand?
Only you and people like Limbaugh can see the racism in what the rapper had to say. Nobody else can. But such a large percentage of people can see the racism that Limbaugh trades in every day that he's seen as an unfit person to be involved with the NFL. That isn't my opinion, that's the NFL's opinion. The view from corporate America is that he's just too much of a scumbag for any corporation or public entity that needs to maintain public goodwill to allow him to own part of it. Not my view, or my opinion, the opinion of corporate America, based on how they see American public opinion. And as you can see from my quote art and your hypersensitivity to anything you percieve as racism towards white people from nonwhite people, the double standards are all on yours and Limbaugh's side.

Re: Michael Moore's "Capitalism"
....are you all cried out yet?
Bill Maher didn't change his mind, he didn't change his opinion, he never was a libertarian to begin with. He may agree with Libertarians on social issues (bar gun ownership) but definently not on the Federal Government or the Economy or Taxes or anything else and that doesn't exactly make him a libertarian now does it?
You can't see that what Jay-Z said was racist??? Oh well, I guess that just proves my point about you having double standards...thanks for outing yourself as an ignorant bigot.

I'm happy to let this post speak for itself. As a study in irony I couldn't come up with anything better. God bless you Lyle.
