Re: Khan makes claims - "I'd be a Superstar if I wasn't shite"
Although this is a joke thread....I'm increasingly starting to agree with the sentiments.
Floored by Willie Limond, KO'd by Prescott, lucky against Barrera....and whilst it's all well and good for him to be trained by Roach, he needs to portray himself better and stop making such silly statements if he wants to be a superstar.

Re: Khan makes racism claim - "I'd be a Superstar if I was white"
To be honest this thread is just a classic example of why Amir might say what he has just said.
I mean so far two pages of replies virtually all of you saying you want him to get knocked out again and that he's an arrogant prick.
Now as individuals I'm sure none of you are racist but Amir is obviously well aware that this kind of dislike for him is echoed up and down the country.
And for many many people it will be racially motivated.
He was unwise to comment on it as it will probably only inflame things, which is why his dad moved quickly to dismiss such claims as having any substance, but Amir obviously knows a lot of people don't like him, he hears the boo's when he fights and maybe even reads forum posts on the net about himself.
He's just a young lad and any of us being vilified publicly would feel hurt and want to speak out about it.
I like the kid, he's just sticking up for himself imo.
As for the person who said they don't like Lewis Hamilton because he moved to Switzerland, come on get real. First off virtually all the Formula One racers live in Europe, its a predominantly European sport after all, and secondly why would want to give away millions of his cash each year in taxes?
It's all very well saying he should be contributing to hospitals but if it was YOUR money, and the government wanted to take several million off you each year for the joy of living here in Blighty, what would you do? personally I'd much rather live in some beautiful, sunny, trendy dream location and keep my millions than give them up to enjoy a life of 'Gray UK'.

Rubbish! Khan got everything he ever needed and he has absolutely no right to complain. The media never turned their back on him when he got mashed up in a minute againsed Prescott, he still gets loads of praise, too much if you ask me but never any negative press, even when he runs people down driving like a twat.
Any British fighter would give anything to have what Khan has and do far more to get it.

Now it's time for all the white guys, who live in non-white coountries to start pulling the race card. Any guys in africa or india or china that haven't made it because they are white?

Re: Khan makes racism claim - "I'd be a Superstar if I was white"
What is Khan lacking is his career that a white guy would have got?
-
Re: Khan makes racism claim - "I'd be a Superstar if I was white"
If Khan were white, he certainly wouldn't be receiving half the hatred from British fans as he does right now simply because he's comprised of the worst combination:
1) Muslim
2) Pakistani
For anyone to believe that a certain degree of hate towards him isn't solely based on his Religion and his Ethnicity are either utterly, and completely dillusional.
-
Re: Khan makes racism claim - "I'd be a Superstar if I was white"
What Khan hasn't realised yet is, if you get knocked out in the first round when being touted as the next big thing, it tends to set your career back about 12 months until you show the boxing world that you are not a complete waste of time. What Khan's comments tell me is, he may be resurrecting his career but he really is a waste of space!
Just exactly how many white boxing superstars are there currently?

I don't give a flying fukk what god he thinks exists or what country his parents were from. He is a British fighter, end of.
I don't like Amir because he has done nothing as a pro to justify his popularity, earnings and the praise he gets.

Re: Khan makes racism claim - "I'd be a Superstar if I was white"
Well I don't like Amir that much because he does say some ridiculous things like he would beat Mayweather and knockout Pacquiao, those 2 guys are well accomplished in this sport.
On the other hand didsn't someone say that they were there for the Hatton-Pacquiao fight when Amir went on stage for the press conference that there were verbal racial abuse hurled towards him and Pacquiao from British fans?
So it's not like what he says doesn't have any sort of merit.

Dude...why so tense? You mad? First off all, how is it his fault for all the praise he's receiving? I'm not saying it to you directly...I'm merely stating the fact that are British fans that want to Khan lose merely based on his ethnicity and religion. It's been stated by a few posters who have frequented sports bars in England who have witnessed this first hand. I'm a member on a few other sports forums where members clearly post negative remarks solely based on his background and nothing to do with his skills or lack of, in the ring. There really is no denying it.
On a side note, I do agree that Khan has far from proven himself with a win over Salita. His next fight has to be with a recognized name who can bang.

i would blame maybe 10% if that of the hate on that.
i think he had the Froch factor...
i dislike Froch for the same reasons i dislike Khan the difference is Froch and his fans can't pull the race card out of their arse at every oppitunity rather than adressing the real reasons
confussing staged managed wins against featherfisted opponent and well past there prime legends as the second comming of Ali.
but saying all that khan did good tonight and couldn't have done any better... i really wish him well but when he spouts crap he deserves shit.
if he had a chin he would be a sensation of that i have no doubt... but he hasn't but with age and roach in his corner who knows.
but whining on about being a superstar if white is bollocks...
Michell, Enzo and Arthur should be the ones complaining being on the undercard of his first few fights on ITV2 when he was topping the bill on ITV1... is that khans fault... HELL NO but lets just say he has fuck all to whine about IMHO ;)
he is PPV now and the only match up that has come close to warrenting PPV is the Barrera one and that is because of Barrera and not Khan.

Khan just sold 10,000 tickets to a majority white audience. He don't do bad for a fighter hated by British fans

The great Muhamad Ali played race cards. The difference is Amir Khan is no great fighter (yet) to be making that kind of remarks.

Hmm I see so he didn't say he could knock out Manny Pacquiao at all but what he actually said was, in the run up to the Diaz Pacquaio fight
'Diaz and Pacquaio are both great fighters but I'm confident I can beat them both'.
Ok so what about that comment is arrogant or offensive to you?
Can you provide a single example of any up and coming fighter when asked about his chances in the division he is fighting says 'No I can't beat them they are too good for me at this time'?
It's ridiculous, he just said what EVERY aspiring fighter says. There is nothing disrespectful or arrogant in that whatsoever.

No he didn't when he turned pro and was asked how he was adapting to the pro game he made a tongue in cheek quip that reckoned he could give even Floyd Mayweather trouble over four rounds.
It was clearly just a light hearted remark from an enthusiastic young kid and not arrogance in the slightest. It wasn't any more serious than when Joe Calzaghe said he could move up to heavyweight and beat Wladimir Klitschko, clearly not something to be taken seriously by anyone other than a moron.
As for Kotelnik slating, again it was a deliberate joke as they were trying to get a fight with Kotelnik at the time. He was clearly not being serious as evidenced by the fact he was full of respect for him once the fight was announced and afterwards.
Some of you it seems have been unable to master the basic art of male to male banter. It's quite bizarre really.:-\

and do you really consider him that intelligent to be putting out these little 'witty quips', listen to one of his interviews, his as thick as people come....

I admit I hate David Haye and I've always been totally honest and upfront in that it's because he's ridiculously buff and chiseled, gets all the girls, and is a cocky, successful son of a bitch with no counterbalancing negative features that endear him to me like a stupid voice, or massive belly.
My hate for David Haye is more humorous than anything.
But I'm not biased against him, I even put him in my top 10 Ring p4p rankings as he's clearly deserving of it, an undisputed champion at cruiserweight and now a heavyweight champ.
Everything I say about Haye is clearly tongue in cheek (although I really do detest the buff smirking cunt) but I'm not biased against him....much

Re: Khan makes racism claim - "I'd be a Superstar if I was white"
First and foremost he's 22 and for such a young lad he isn't doing bad. He's on PPV a good few years before he should be really. To be a superstar you obviously should beat top class opposition. Now Khan hasn't done bad. He's got Kotelnik and Sailta on his record aswell as a win over a shot Barrera. Solid wins but, until he gets a real top quality fighter on his resume, then he won't and rightly so, be a superstar.
For those on here listing 5 black men who succeeded despite being black, are sadly missing an important point. Amir Khan is a Pakistani Muslim in a country where there is racial hostility and a general fear towards Islam.
Certain parts of the media have a lot to answer to. They've done a cracking job in duping the idiots into thinking 'Brown people' are the enemy. Whether it be immigration, the almost laughable 'War on Terror' or the idea that 'Paki's are living it up in fancy house and nikcing all our benefits'. There is even evidence of this in this thread. One poster has already commeneted on how Muslims get whatever they want in this country. A conclusion that could only possibly be reached from reading The Sun.
What Amir has said is actually quite stupid. Racism of course plays it's part. I and a few others on here have wtinessed it - -infact it's been so offensive that i've actually left a couple of venues midway through a Khan fight. However, his earnings and support seems to far outweigh his in the ring achievements so for now he doesn't really have a point. He shouldn't even be mentioning 'superstar' until he has beaten anybody close to world class.

Re: Khan makes racism claim - "I'd be a Superstar if I was white"
I was going to say, didn't Hamed become a huge superstar in England, without an Olympic medal? I don't understand why people make these stupid statements and play the race card to cover up their own shortcomings.

His dad said it was not true and does not know why his son said it. This should be the end of the matter. (Notice Sky never mentioned it as it would affect their sales?)
