Re: Khan makes racism claim - "I'd be a Superstar if I was white"
First and foremost he's 22 and for such a young lad he isn't doing bad. He's on PPV a good few years before he should be really. To be a superstar you obviously should beat top class opposition. Now Khan hasn't done bad. He's got Kotelnik and Sailta on his record aswell as a win over a shot Barrera. Solid wins but, until he gets a real top quality fighter on his resume, then he won't and rightly so, be a superstar.
For those on here listing 5 black men who succeeded despite being black, are sadly missing an important point. Amir Khan is a Pakistani Muslim in a country where there is racial hostility and a general fear towards Islam.
Certain parts of the media have a lot to answer to. They've done a cracking job in duping the idiots into thinking 'Brown people' are the enemy. Whether it be immigration, the almost laughable 'War on Terror' or the idea that 'Paki's are living it up in fancy house and nikcing all our benefits'. There is even evidence of this in this thread. One poster has already commeneted on how Muslims get whatever they want in this country. A conclusion that could only possibly be reached from reading The Sun.
What Amir has said is actually quite stupid. Racism of course plays it's part. I and a few others on here have wtinessed it - -infact it's been so offensive that i've actually left a couple of venues midway through a Khan fight. However, his earnings and support seems to far outweigh his in the ring achievements so for now he doesn't really have a point. He shouldn't even be mentioning 'superstar' until he has beaten anybody close to world class.
