Re: Povetkin is out. Wlad will rematch peter instead!
You think David Haye would rematch Monte Barrett ?
Peter is a fraud, already been dominated by Wlad and brings NOTHING to the table.
Another pointless fight in this joke division of boxing.

#3 Sam Peter is the last guy to hurt Wlad, its a big fight
Monte Barrett looked fantastic against David Tua, you think David Haye will give him a rematch too ?
Monte Barrett was the last guy to "Floor" Haye. So lets fukking get it on

David Haye is the only person who will take out his glass jaw once and for all. Wladimir won't want to go near a boxing ring ever again once that fukking right Hayemaker lands on his chin.

1. Not to downplay what Monte accomplished but David Tua hasn't exactly been burning it up in the division recently.
2. Like Sam Peter, Monte Barrett is also still better than Audley Harrison.
3. Hornfinger, Sam Peter has lost to a roided up James Toney, Vitali Klitschko, and Eddie Chambers whom had the perfect style to beat him...what's the shame in that? Audley Harrison lost to Michael Sprott (is that right or was it Matt Skelton, I get them confused), Dominick Guinn, and Martin Rogan...they haven't been all that great recently have they?

but as the first Peter fight showed, exposing his glass chin doesn't mean you'll win.

too bad he wont sign on the dotted line to take Wlad on huh?!?, especially when the Challenger (Haye) thinks he's too good for a 50/50 split contract without a rematch clause against the lineal champ

i'm not exactly filling the forum with posts saying how great an opponant Audley is for Haye.

1. The IBF ranking only matters because it makes Sam Peter a mandatory.
2. The Chicken Little fight may be the fight everyone wants to see but if 50/50 isn't getting the fight signed then I highly doubt we'll see it, so much for "tearing through the heavyweight division" huh?

Re: Povetkin is out. Wlad will rematch peter instead!
Let's try to leave emotions out of this. Fact is, most of the boxing world fans would rather see a Wlad-Haye fight than any other matchup at this time. Careers tend to be rather short in boxing (well... except for the rash of "has-beens" that insist on fighting WAY beyond their prime). Let's put it another way: PRIMES tend to be rather short in boxing. Another fact: Haye has called out Wlad to the point of insults and personal attacks. Wlad finally took the bait and said: "Ok, let's get it on." (Well... he also said something about making his face into a pizza, but we must remember that trash-talking is not exactly Wlad's forte). For a brief moment in time, we were all excited about seeing a HW fight with huge fanbase attraction and lots of grudges being brought into the ring.
BUT THEN...... all the excuses start coming out. And you know what, whether you're a Haye fan, or a Wlad fan, or just plain neutral.... it sounds too much like the kid who insults the school bully from the safety of the school bus window, only to find himself face-to-face with the bully in the playground and then saying he can't fight 'cause the playground is not well lit enough, or maybe it just rained and the ground's too mushy right now.
If you're going to talk the talk, you'd better be damn well prepared to walk the walk. Plain and simple. No emotion, no regional preferences involved... just the facts. Hey, I can understand the Haye fans being excited about their fighter. He's good, no doubt about that. And a match with Wlad could have some very interesting moments. (And I don't say this about many HW fights nowadays). But when you defend the indefensible, you lose credibility. You'd be respected a bit more if you admitted that Haye could be making a better effort to actually making the fight.
Just my opinion, of course.

boxing politics mate
Haye doesnt want either klits, wlad and especially vitali would take the haye fight tommorow even if it meant doing it in england.
Povetkin has bottled out just like haye did because he essentially realises that not getting beat represents value for money in your lesser known fights

Re: Povetkin is out. Wlad will rematch peter instead!
I haven't seen Wladimir Klitschko vs Samuel Peter 1 for quite sometime, but as i remember it Wladimir Klitschko basically dominated Samuel Peter. And the only rounds he lost were the rounds he got knocked down in. And only one of those knockdowns were really legit.
Its not a bad alternative, but then again it has no excitement value to me. Because there is no sense of danger of Wladimir Klitschko losing.
Im not saying i want him to lose, what im saying is that when there is that sense of danger. It makes the fight more interesting/exciting to watch. Knowing anything could happen.
And all that will happen here is that Wladimir Klitschko will constantly jab the slow plodding Samuel Peter. And stop him late on or win 12 rounds to 0.

Question for Lyle and the other big Wlad fans - when was the last time he stopped someone in under 5 rounds? It would be nice to see him knock out someone earlier.

Ray Austin a few years back.

Hi Lyle, been away for a while but now i'm back and glad to see you haven't changed one bit.
Personally I think Haye is waiting to see if Adamek beats Grant and if he does I think that will be Hayes next fight. I've noticed Adam Booth keeps bringing Adamek up whenever he's interviewed. Can't personally see the Harrison fight happening but if it does i have to admit i'll be disappointed in Haye.

Well I have to tell you the truth a fight with Chicken Little vs Adamek is something (on paper) that should excite all boxing fans, but to be honest I don't think Adamek can be in a bad fight. HOWEVER, I think that fight is too dangerous and that although an Adamek fight would most certainly draw big bucks it wouldn't make more money than a fight vs Wladimir.
By the way they sold 15,000 tickets before a replacement for Povetkin was even named so that's pretty good drawing power right there.
I still see the Harrison fight as the one that will happen #1 Harrison apparently has "real beef" with Chicken Little and really both their egos are so big you have to figure one would feel slighted by the media or fans and a fight would be made due to that #2 Its the fight Chicken Little needs to boost his rep in his home country and boost PPV sales for whenever he decides to fight Wlad or Adamek #3 Harrison is on a list with lots of washed up fighters and he's still the weakest and I have yet to see Chicken Little fight anyone but the weakest person listed as a potential matchup, just look at which title he went for.

He will fight and KO Adamek next!! Then for the man with the china chin or his older fading brother as his victim next year.

.....hhmmmm I think that's wishful thinking.
You see Adamek is fighting Michael Grant, it's not because Grant is relevant in today's division it's because of his size, power, but also his vulnerability. In fighting Grant Adamek is sizing up how he will do vs someone as big as a Klitschko brother...just my view of things. If Adamek does poorly vs Grant I think you may be correct but I doubt that he will have much trouble.
I would imagine that Chagaev, Bahktov, Ustinov, Meehan, maybe JC Gomez or a Jean Marc Mormek rematch would be in order after the Audley Harrison fight
-
Re: Povetkin is out. Wlad will rematch peter instead!
this fight between wladimir klitschko and samuel peter has mismatch written all over it. klitschko is going to destroy this guy with his jab alone, much less his powerful right hand. wladimir by TKO8.
-
Re: Povetkin is out. Wlad will rematch peter instead!
Wlad is such a puss, he always has his brother fight guys for him. Peter was wanting Wlad but Vitali jumped in, am I right or am I right? Now that he sees Peter isnt all that, hes willing to fight.
-

I highly doubt that but you and everyone else can continue to think that as for the "Wlad is such a puss" comment.....so Wlad never rematched Purrity or Sanders, but he demolished Chris Byrd (for Vitali) and he avenged his loss to Lamon Brewster in an easy manner. If you compare records Wlad's is hands down better.

The Ross Purrity loss doesn't mean much to me, because that was early in Wladimir Klitschko's career and he just run out of steam. Similar to David Haye's loss to Carl Thompson.
But he should of revenged the Corrie Sanders loss, that to me was/is still a pretty damaging loss. Because Corrie Sanders just blitzed him straight away, i would of liked to of seen. If he could of beat a dangerous Southpaw like Corrie Sanders.
Where as his loss to Lamon Brewster, was more of a fluke. Because Wladimir Klitschko dominated Lamon Brewster from start to finish, until he run out of gas. It was more like a Rocky comeback a once in a lifetime fight where he could take that punishment.
-
I would have liked to see Wlad rematch Sanders but to be honest by the time Wlad was back to his old self Sanders was done as a threat and the rematch would have been symbolic more than anything else

In short? No you are not right. Wlad and Peter had already fought couple years prior. Vitali used Peter as he re-entrance into the wonderful word of boxing.
Peter has looked way more impressive since his loss to Chambers. He weight fucking 265lbs in that fight. Now look at him tipping the scales at ~240lbs. He is in it to win it, but I still barely give him a shot at doing anything to the Klits.

The excuse is that they suck basically. All Wlad does is jab/right cross. He will throw a left hook in once in awhile. Even Emmanuel Steward gets bored watching him fight, and that his freaking style he taught him.
-
I've been in this argument enough times to know that some people don't appreciate the way Wlad fights and there's no satisfying them, if Wlad threw down toe to toe vs everyone he fought from here on out and won people would still cite the fights where he didn't gun for the KO early and if he lost then they would say his style was a crutch.
Not everyone likes, appreciates, or respects Wlad and how good he is....and those people know fuck all about boxing.

That's such a horrible overstatement; I'll let you think about that one for a while. Do you actually rewatch Wlad of Vitali's fight? Do you rewatch JMM, Gatti, ODLH, Bowe, Holyfield, Toney fights? I thought so...
You can HAVE all this boring fights the Ukranians have "blessed" our sport with over the years. You must enjoy watching grass grow, putting bamboo shoots up your fingernails, and chinese drop torture in your free time.

It's personal taste, you could also say someone who watchs the heavyweights to see good boxing knows fuck all about boxing. Lol just messing with ya, but if you like that style why are you so into heavyweights? I like heavyweight division for the big power and knockouts personally.

First off, yes I watch as much boxing as I can stomach I would watch it all day if I didn't have to work. And yes this includes any number of Klitschko fights.
Secondly is it an overstatement? When you break it down is what I said hyperbole? I'm not saying everyone has to like the way the guy fights, I'm not saying everyone thinks he's the greatest of all time all I'm saying is that #1 Most people respect the skill level of Wladimir and #2 Most people understand that not every fighter is a face first brawler....you wouldn't ask Willie Pep to fight like Hank Armstrong, you wouldn't ask Ray Robinson to fight like Gene Fullmer.
Lastly, this is boxing not a toughman competition. This is "The Sweet Science" not some back street brawl, there are subtleties in this sport that decide who wins and who loses as much as anything else, there is a lot of nuance in this sport that laypeople or casual fans can't (or refuse to) grasp. For example IF everyone knows that Wlad is going to throw a 1-2 then how does he still land it? What you call dull and boring I call NUANCE and it just so happens to be a game changer. Did you ever wondered what made all the guys you mentioned great fighters and not just average local fighters??? It's the ability to box, the ability to block punches, knowing which way to circle, knowing when to roll with punches, knowing how to counter....that separates the Champions from the tomato cans and if you don't like it tough, this is the real world and being a Champion boxer takes SKILL not just brute strength, if you want to see that go watch a toughman competition or two MMA fighters stand up and trade punches.

I wouldn't say Wlads is hands down better. At the end of the day there is only one ATG on either record and yes that has a great big L next to it. If Wlad fought Lennox he would be lucky to see the 3rd round, at least Vitali made a fight of it before he was cut to ribbons.
As far as the brothers go right now I think Wlad would win, but more due to the fact that Vitali is in serious decline rather than Wlad is "so great".
