JMM deserves this fight and this pay day

Juan Manuel Marquez-Erik Morales is Close For April 16 - Boxing News
They mention Morales will be able to challenge for a 4th divisional title. Unless someone is vacating a 140lb belt, then this must be at 135lbs.
Just to touch on what ElTerrible & GAME are talking about, I've had this conversation with ElTerrible quite a few times, and I had Morales a 9 rounds to 3 winner plus the knockdown in that fight with David Diaz. It wasn't even remotely close. That is truly one of the worst decisions I've ever seen.
The fight will take place at 140. And it will most likely be for the WBC Junior Welterweight title. Making the winner the first Mexican 4 division champion. Without the title this fight is looked as a mismatch. It'll do okay cuz both fighters have there loyal followers. But it be mostly frowned on. With the title on the line this fight is history in the making and becomes huge. It'll still be frowned on. But nobody will care.
Devon Alexander is the current title holder. But that won't be for long. The stripping of his title is happening right before our eyes. Tim Bradley has done his part to insure that. He's refused to pay the WBC any sanctioning fees. So if he wins he doesn't become the WBC champion. And Alexander can't keep the title cuz he lost. So it becomes vacant. The WBC pretty much wants it's champion Alerxander to lose. It makes everything easier. Bradley doesn't want the belt. Alexander can't keep it. The WBC is free to hand it to the Morales-Marquez winner with little to no backlash. That's plan A. There's also a plan B. In case Devon wins. If Alexander comes out on top of this unification fight, the WBC will demand Alexander defend against the number one contender. Which is Ajose Olusegun. Alexander will have 90 days to do so. Chances are just about none Alexander will jump back into to the ring so quickly after the Bradley fight. Especially not for a Ajose Olusegun. That will lead to either Alexander giving up the belt himself or the WBC stripping him after 90 days for not fighting Olusegun. Either way the WBC Junior Welterweight title will be on the line for Marquez-Morales.

It matters to Morales. He hasn't fought below 140 in his last 3 fights. He does not need an additional disadvantage to what he already has.
I think this fight may be at JMM's terms since Morales should be the one desperate for this fight. Even at 140, I think Marquez wins this one so why not go for the higher weight to test himself and bring himself closer to a fight with Manny. If this fight is at 135, then it appears that he has relinguish his desire for that third fight.
Jmms a nice guy but it's not about doing favors for your opponent. 5 lbs either way on a past it fighter is lipstick on a pig. Marquez was out of his weight class and at least out weighed by 8-10 lbs unofficially vs Mayweather.
How much more testing does he need.
He was outclassed by the BEST fighter in the world. That does not mean he can't be effective above at 147 or moreso at 140. Right?
Was the point yeh. He's been up...certainly doesn't need a testing ground or to send Manny an olive branch to show he's wanting a fight. He gets one he can dictate terms in vs Morales, he calls the shots. Manny knows where to find him and I think Marquez would jump at the chance. Hey that was good. 147 and above with his style, age though is a no go vs another I believe.

I have news for you.
Juan Manuel Marquez fought a popular fighter named Michael Katsidis.
Fight fans in attendance : 4, 970
I would like to request that you at least think for a few minutes before posting about your favorite fighters. Because it appears that you're either lying or you have no idea at all.
Just to rationalize things : JMM is not behind Barrera or Morales in terms of Boxing skills...But he's way behind in terms of fan following.

Of course Techinically he has. But can you compare it to Morales and Barrera's ??
Less than 5K fans attended his last fight. Have you ever thought of Morales or Barrera drawing less than 5K people? considering he fought Michael Katsidis.

That's what your basing it on? Damn your an idiot. Katsidis was a fucking tune-up. Only a fool (you most likely) would expect 60k for a tune-up. Except for 15 seconds in one of the early rounds the fight was dominated by Marquez. And Katsidis might be a God in your little country. But he ain't popular in the US. I don't know where the fuck you got that from. Katsidis rep in the US is set in stone already. He's a B fighter who's brought in to provide a little excitement WHILE losing to better fighters.
And Marquez trails Morales and Barrera in fan following. Yeah ok. 1 + 1 = 2. What's your fucking point for stating the obvious? Nobody ever said Marquez didn't trail them. Hell I think he trails his brother in that department as well. Oh wait. His brother didn't draw 50k for his fight with Lopez. So there is no way he or Lopez for that matter have followings. :lolhaha:

I said only Morales and i have given you numbers on why this is so.
and now you have this garbage saying Marquez dominated Katsidis which is totally out of the subject we're talking about.
Bottomline : Marquez doesnt have loyal followers.
if you are talking techinical then every fighter have loyal followers. Guys like Corley and Augustus have loyal followers for sure but they probably fill 1K seats Marquez a little less than 5K. I think that settled it?

That's cuz you see it from a misguided way. In your little country everybody from your grandma to 4 year old sister all suck Manny Pacquiao's dick. There's nothing else there. So you think if a fighter doesn't have that type of following than they don't have a following. It don't work that way. Marquez following trails Morales and Barrera. And his brothers. But it's there

Why do you have to be racist? This discussion does not have anything to do with a country and its people.
Juan Manuel Marquez has his loyal followers but they pale in comparison to those of Barrera and Morales in their prime.

Granted the fight did have a small crowd, i think it had more to do with it being 2 days after thanksgiving. This is a very big holiday here in the US, and most people are traveling and spending time with family from that Thursday-sunday. You put that fight on any other date and i think it does extremely well.

Marquez doesnt have a loyal following like Morales.

this is what you said. Its correct technically but Morales probably brings in 85% of the crowd. :D

Re: Juan Manuel Marquez vs. Erik Morales close for April 16th 2011, MGM Grand
If this fight took place several years ago...it would have been one of the fights I most wanted to see. A great match up between two skilled warriors. Now...it will be a shameless beat down for a pay day. Morales avoided Marquez like the plague years ago...sad to see that he wants a part of him now, when he (Erik) is clearly washed up.

That is such BS!
Marquez turned down a fight with Morales twice asking for more money. That fight was being offered when they were both with Top Rank.

This statement coming from someone who said that a certain word is not a racial slur ... duh! Now, do you want to acknowledge that what you have been saying before is indeed a racial slur or do you want to repeat those words again? And I don't call you names, you dumbass.
You don't see a reason why Marquez and Morales are brought up in this thread but you see a reason to disparage a country.

This somewhat insinuates that both fighters bring in equal amount of followers.
But yeah i have to agree TECHNICALLY Juan bring in some loyal fans. same way as other fighters like Floyd, Pac, Gatti, Augustus, Corley etc.

I need to read the thread but my first thought is what a waste of time this is for Marquez.
