Re: Haye Crap-Talking Thread
"revert back to type" simply means under pressure people return to doing what they do naturally. This is very common and perfectly understandable.

As an expression it is perfectly understandable, but in the context of this fight it is meaningless.
Is Wlad going to be under pressure? Haye circled The Yeti for 12 rounds and threw a dozen punches per round. He wouldn't even open up against Audley Harrison. And now he is going to revert Wlad Klit back to type?
It would make sense only in terms of Haye's previous losses really, but I guess Haye was probably not talking about himself.
This goes into the Haye crap talking thread with ease.

Re: Haye Crap-Talking Thread
Depends were this bias is on part of the 3 person.
Audley is very much a paint by numbers boxer... A, then B, then C, the D etc...
In his contest against Haye, this was as evident as it will ever get. The poor fucker couldn't even get off of 'A'.
I'm sure Haye will execute a plan that will exploit Wladimir's repertoire and leave Wladimir a bit clueless, second guessing himself into committing anything for the early part of the fight. If he loses his head, he will loose his head.

The interviewer asked him if he believes he can beat Wlad like Sanders did considering Haye shares the same blinding speed and power.
Haye said yes.
That makes Haye a delusional, horrible human being. Deary deary me....

That was yet another series of honest, respectable answers from an obvious realist.
Anyone would think Haye just said he's better than Ali, Liston and Lewis, Cooper was a bum and refused to accept Solis beat him. He showed the utmost respect to all those guys.
If you feel like I am biased against Haye, for the last time, you are wrong. I am not a fan of certain boxers, but I'm not anti-Haye. I do believe his heavyweight stardom is a bit premature and that he gained a lot of his recognition from talking trash about the Klitschko's before he ever actaully stepped into the ring with one of them. However, for the most part, I don't single Haye out as worse than anyone else. Moreover, in the instant situation, hopefully Haye will build up a big heavyweight boxing match, which regardless of the outcome really, is good for the sport.
The point of this thread for me was to see how many times over the course of three months Haye denigrates his opponent. Over the last year and a half, he has repeatedly put down Wlad and Vitali, even when he is signed up to fight someone else. Now that he is finally set to fight one of them, I believe that his trash talking will reach astronomical levels. So far, he has proven my hypothesis correct, we are three months away (it's in June) from the fight and he is already talking heaps of rubbage about the Klitschkos.
The fact that he said he's "gonna smash Wlad all over the shop" constitutes trash-talking. Accordingly, it merits inclusion in a thread entitled "Haye Crap-Talking Thread."

OK, you just wanted to count how many times Haye says he's gonna beat a Klit?
Here's a bold prediction - from now until the end of their fight he will say it about 1 million times. Just like from now until the end of their fight, Wlad will say he will punish Haye 1 million times.
If you are waiting for either to pronounce their love for the other you have a long wait. Hope this helps.

Haye has only lost 1 fight bud, so using the plural is a little unfair. Also haye broke his hand in the 2nd or 3rd of the fight with Valuev, so the tactic was maybe determined by that, also add to the fact he was so much bigger. Why stand toe 2 toe with a beast like that and risk getting sparked. Haye will use his speed and reactions againts Wlad no doubt, but to say he has no agility and is too small, got to disagree with bud.
Haye will beat him ;)

Yeah, must take off the blinkers.
I appreciate the fuller context, but it is still pretty meaningless. Haye has never beaten a decent heavyweight in his prime.

You say Haye will win because you are culturally biased. You want him to win and I understand that. The thing with me is that my cultural bias is pretty much eradicated.
Haye has lost in the Amateurs and also as a smaller pro, I use the plural for those reasons alone.
Wlad is not a great fighter by my reckoning, but Haye is nothing more than a jumped up CW who has feasted on a handful of easy fights. Wlad is too much of a technician. Haye will eat the jab and then get worn out.
I am not going to be won over by a motor mouth with dreadlocks, I would like to see some evidence first.

Wlad has also had 2 times as many fights as the WBA title holder.....and over 10 times as many fights at heavyweight (yes 10 times as many). You can give any opponent a shot at beating anyone, that's why they actually fight the fights (in most cases ;) ) but the fact that Wlad is vastly more experienced, a natural heavyweight, technically superior, and will be the very first PRIME heavyweight (and power punching heavyweight) that that WBA title holder has set foot in the ring with gives me great confidence that this will be a very easy fight where at the end people will be wondering why the then former WBA title holder was allowed to fight Wladimir...yes the disparity in class is THAT significant

Hahaha, you're counting his amateur losses??!
Find a fighter who hasn't lost in the amateurs. Not to mention that Haye got to international stage as an amateur with absolutely fuck all fights (relatively) in Britain because so few other clubs wanted to put their boys in with him. So there was no shame in losing to Solis who had significantly more experience.
I'm all for fair criticism of which there is plenty of Haye, but trying to find things that justify it in an amateur fight is laughable.
Shit, Vitali got KO'd by Pele Reid in a kickboxing match, so let's see how we can extrapolate that to his next fight.

A loss in a kickboxing match = .78 of a KO in boxing by my math. TBH though, I may have missed the carried one. Can someone check that for me?

Haye sure likes to talk. For every punch thrown there must be at least enough words to write a book. He will have a whole library fitted out come fight time.

It appears that The Boxing Message Board Account Holder doesn't understand boxing as much as he thinks... or as usual, is letting his love of Wlad make him over look things.
How many times did we see Mike Tyson have opponents so intimated that they wouldn't throw commited punches at him to keep him at bay? How many opponents were so frustrated with Ali's antics that they would chase him all night with no care or gameplan?
Fuck... Hopkins still does it every fight.
They often had guys beat before the bell.
It may not literally win a fight... But it can make it the fight you want.
'it doesn't matter once the bell has rang' is bullshit... Once you get in a guy's head and change his temperment? Of course it matters.
Lets hope that for Wlad's sake, he isn't pissed... Haye is likely to stand a better chance if Wlad puts himself there to be hit. If he uses the safety first, negative style that he employs against even small heaviess like Sultan (yawn) then he will give Haye all sorts of problems... But if he's stupid then at least it will be an ex undisputed cruiserweight world champ and not a pro golfer sparking him out.
Totally agree - Sugar Ray Leonard was a master at it also - he had Hagler so annoyed that he threw away the first 5 rounds of their fight.

....And when the fight comes he'll lay down like Odlanier Solis.
Guys when I said "I've never seen a fighter talk his way to victory" I meant that you still have to perform in the ring. The way the WBA title holder talks he says "All Wlad does is jab, jab, jab, and grab" and then he says he's made Wlad angry and he'll fight toe to toe....I see this as the WBA title holder not having a plan, he's talking just to get attention. When the fight actually happens Wlad could jump on him early or do like he always does his opponent won't have an answer for either.
