Really WOW his legs and speed looked as fast as hes ever been in his last fight in fact i think floyd is going to get even better and sharper as these next 5 fights go on, because hes fighting 2 times a year and will be basically training non stop. So think about it no more fighting having long lay offs hes only going to be better and sharper hes going to destroy canelo i bet any1 he stops or makes canelo quit[/QUO
I'm not sure which fights you were watching man. Floyds legs are most definitely not what they used to be. He's getting out of the way mostly on his upper body movement now. If you watch the Ortiz fight and the Cotto fight again, you will notice that Floyd is getting backed up against the ropes and trading shots ALOT. I'm not saying that Canelo will beat him because of this...but to say Floyds legs haven't lost anything tells me that you're REALLY HOPING he hasn't...because he has. I'm interested how these "against the ropes" spots will play out in this fight. Especially with Canelo very possibly entering the ring at 170 on fight night.
And then again in the Guerrero fight he was moving like he was 26 years old.
Bhop would look like a 26 year old against Guerrero. Everyone (including Guerrero) knew the outcome of that fight before the opening bell. Didn't show me anything about Floyd that I didn't already know. However his next fight will.
Re: Is Canelo the toughest opponent for PBF since PBF has weighed over 140 pounds?
I think Miguel Cotto was the toughest opponent for PBF since PBF moved above 140. Cotto won rounds, Cotto was in the fight to win it, Cotto was closer to his prime than other fighters had been AND at his natural comfortable weight (unlike Hatton who still fought valiantly).
I don't know much about Canelo other than he's young and a bit raw

Does anyone have video of the Canelo vs. Vasquez fights? @Violent Demise ?

If he thinks he's got Mayweather's number because he beat Austin Trout, IMO he's already lost.

I think as close as that fight was it should go to show that a slick boxer can easily have his way (providing he makes adjustments during the fight) with Canelo......so he had better study hard for this test else it will be a shut out.
Re: Is Canelo the toughest opponent for PBF since PBF has weighed over 140 pounds?
No, it is a cherry pick fight. It has all the masks to fool the obvious, but Canelo was fighting the likes of Matthew Hatton only half a dozen fights ago and his biggest name is Shane Mosley who had already been bamoozled by Mayweather and then Manny. And then the CW too.
It's another silly fight for Mayweather and against a fighter who cannot sustain two rounds of activity in a row.
Re: Is Canelo the toughest opponent for PBF since PBF has weighed over 140 pounds?
If Mayweather was to fight someone like Tim Bradley I would be impressed, but he stays away from clever, fast, fighters of that ilk. It's easier fighting bigger guys when they have numerous chinks in their armour. Mayweather should be fighting 140 fighters as they are the better fighters. The last time he fought someone slick and fast was Judah and Maweather lost 3 of 4 rounds. Bradley is much better than someone like Judah and is more versatile to boot.
Re: Is Canelo the toughest opponent for PBF since PBF has weighed over 140 pounds?
people keep making Canelo out to be Floyd's JCC, IMO it's not gonna play out that way
Re: Is Canelo the toughest opponent for PBF since PBF has weighed over 140 pounds?
He's definitely the toughest in terms of size and youth thing he's got going on. He's still growing so this is a defining fight for the boy.

Oh cmon Miles. Tim Bradley, that would really be a harder opponent in your mind:confused:. Who at 140 would stand a chance against Floyd, MAtthyse? Garcia? Those guys would be absolute cannon fodder and should worry about fighting each other. I realize it isn't deliberate, but you are being a wind up merchant imo.
For the record I'm in agreement that Alvarez has very little chance and is overhyped, but it's by far the best opponent Floyd could've taken on next all things considered. It's an absolute no brainer any way you look at it and should at least be a fun fight.
Re: Is Canelo the toughest opponent for PBF since PBF has weighed over 140 pounds?
On paper, sure yeh. But in accomplishment and adversity faced hell no. Alvarez hasn't faced the trials & tribulations, been scuffed up and had to battle back to frankly know how tough he can be at this level. Trout was a swap meet version Mayweather and a canvas to paint on late and Alvarez let up. He cannnot box and admire his work with Floyd.

I like that, and it's very true. Trout more than held his own until being knocked down, and without really doing anything terribly clever imo. He was just slighter of foot and had a better jab than Alvarez was used to. I'm sure Floyd watched that fight carefully and decided this was actually a pretty safe bet.

He might run a big risk of being stuck between styles when Floyd starts bouncing jabs and sharp counters off his head. He better have his lunch packed and stick with one identity.
Re: Is Canelo the toughest opponent for PBF since PBF has weighed over 140 pounds?
Exactly, it's very possible he just isn't mentally ready for the fight regardless of what he's capable of. You can't go into a fight with Mayweather expecting to reinvent yourself, and regardless of what he plans to do I think his feet are just to slow to boot.
Re: Is Canelo the toughest opponent for PBF since PBF has weighed over 140 pounds?
Oh yeah, Saul Alvarez will KO Mayweather in about 7 rds.
I do expect a postponement from Mayweather till a slightly later date.
Whether the fight happens as scheduled or a little farther down the line, Floyd won't see the final bell against Alvarez...

Canelo isn't fighting Josesito Lopez in September, he's fighting a guy who's the best defensive fighter in the game and who's been dropped only once in his career, and unlike someone else who was p4p top 2 this time of the year last year, when he got dropped he stood right back up and didn't become one of the most used Meme's on the internet, just saying logic before emotions bud
