If he thinks he's got Mayweather's number because he beat Austin Trout, IMO he's already lost.

I think as close as that fight was it should go to show that a slick boxer can easily have his way (providing he makes adjustments during the fight) with Canelo......so he had better study hard for this test else it will be a shut out.

No, it is a cherry pick fight. It has all the masks to fool the obvious, but Canelo was fighting the likes of Matthew Hatton only half a dozen fights ago and his biggest name is Shane Mosley who had already been bamoozled by Mayweather and then Manny. And then the CW too.

It's another silly fight for Mayweather and against a fighter who cannot sustain two rounds of activity in a row.

If Mayweather was to fight someone like Tim Bradley I would be impressed, but he stays away from clever, fast, fighters of that ilk. It's easier fighting bigger guys when they have numerous chinks in their armour. Mayweather should be fighting 140 fighters as they are the better fighters. The last time he fought someone slick and fast was Judah and Maweather lost 3 of 4 rounds. Bradley is much better than someone like Judah and is more versatile to boot.

Oh cmon Miles. Tim Bradley, that would really be a harder opponent in your mind. Who at 140 would stand a chance against Floyd, MAtthyse? Garcia? Those guys would be absolute cannon fodder and should worry about fighting each other. I realize it isn't deliberate, but you are being a wind up merchant imo.

For the record I'm in agreement that Alvarez has very little chance and is overhyped, but it's by far the best opponent Floyd could've taken on next all things considered. It's an absolute no brainer any way you look at it and should at least be a fun fight.

On paper, sure yeh. But in accomplishment and adversity faced hell no. Alvarez hasn't faced the trials & tribulations, been scuffed up and had to battle back to frankly know how tough he can be at this level. Trout was a swap meet version Mayweather and a canvas to paint on late and Alvarez let up. He cannnot box and admire his work with Floyd.

I like that, and it's very true. Trout more than held his own until being knocked down, and without really doing anything terribly clever imo. He was just slighter of foot and had a better jab than Alvarez was used to. I'm sure Floyd watched that fight carefully and decided this was actually a pretty safe bet.
