Re: Prizefighter: The International Heavyweights Nov 14
Why are you being so pissy about it?
Its fucking prizefighter! Consists of journeymen and has beens, its just fun.
No fighter who takes his career seriously or that has any better offers would risk losing.
It is a big risk because you know full well even someone like Bernard Hopkins would lose a 3 rounder against a young novice/journeyman because the fights are fast paced and are based on work rate.

Re: Prizefighter: The International Heavyweights Nov 14
So hang on, are all the fights going to be US vs UK:confused: Say all the winners in first round are from one or the other, would they still not face their countrymen?
-
Re: Prizefighter: The International Heavyweights Nov 14
Man oh man. Toneys opponent is 6-1 with one 4 rounder in the last 5 years.. He was stopped in 2 by a guy who was 6-28 before that. Tom Little is 3-1 with his last fight being a TKO loss in prizefighter last year. As if the Americans weren't bad enough in this, didn't realize just how dreadful the lineup is. Audley Harrisson would be a massive favourite to win as a late replacement;D

Him and Sprott are favs. I backed Toney at 7/1 when line 1st went up. Id make him fav now being in top half of the draw. He should make the final.

Larry looks an ok bet at 15/2 with VC if anyone can get on with them

Re: Prizefighter: The International Heavyweights Nov 14
Its going to be fitness that wins this.
Toney is in good shape if his weight loss is anything to go by.
I can see a Toney v Minto final.
-
Re: Prizefighter: The International Heavyweights Nov 14
I'll pick Toney, Minto and Sprott in round one.
Olubamiwo vs Gavern is a 50-50 fight.

Toney is in shape. He landed the better shots against Browne as a fat, fat bastard. He won't be off balance here and it's only a few rounds.
I can really see him doing very well in this. These opponents are nothing special. Go on Toney, batter those mongoloids!

Your JFAT loyalty runs deep.....
Let's hope Toney doesn't get injured. This is his last hurrah of sorts. Winning "Prizefighter" ;D:-\
GO TONEY!

Re: Prizefighter: The International Heavyweights Nov 14
I'll say this though, James Toney pisses me off. He should have been this weight against Browne and would have won that fight if he had been. Instead he has lost all the weight for....Prizefighter. You couldn't make it up.
I'm getting excited now as James Toney in shape is always going to be fun. 9 rounds in an evening won't be a big deal for Toney and expecially as the tournament appears to be rigged in favour of him progressing. If anything, if Toney gets to the final he will have a good shot as he might well be in his groove by then.

Re: Prizefighter: The International Heavyweights Nov 14
I might have been watching the Browne fight biased but if anyone cares to score it I bet most have it for Toney. Browne did fuck all because he kept getting caught with the counter right. What he did throw he missed.
Had that fight been elsewhere it would have been a Toney win or more people would have called it a robbery.
-
Re: Prizefighter: The International Heavyweights Nov 14
Can't believe people think Toney will win. The format is all wrong for him. I can already see him being interviewed afterwards telling everyone he was robbed and the UK is full of bums and he wants to fight David Gaye and Fraudley Harrison... same old same old.

I don't think Toney did enough to win, but he won rounds and landed the better shots throughout the the fight. He was just ridiculously heavy and out of shape.
Prizefighter means little, but the fact that Toney is in shape means he is rolling the dice that one last time.
In truth though, none of us has a clue how good an in shape Toney can be as the last time he was in shape, he ripped his leg apart in the first couple of rounds against Lebedev.
It's been years since he won a meaningful fight, though I think there is a fair case that he beat Rahman easily in their second fight, then who gets the shot at Wlad? Toney has a point when he says he has been avoided like the plague in that regard. They have fought anyone but him.

All he has to do is start quickly and keep it going for a couple of rounds. Being a short bout he just needs to make sure he outlands the other man which Toney generally has throughout his career. I don't see it as being a problem, it's not as though he is going in there knowing he has 12 rounds. Looking at the records of some of these other guys, it isn't as though he is being put in with particularly difficult men. He can take more risks, it isn't as though he is fighting Sam Peter and needing to be wary of how and when he throws. Also, at this weight I will be surprised if some of these guys can even hit Toney clean as he was still slipping and slidding despite looking like some kind of newly discovered blubbery thing from the deep against Lucas Browne and Damon Reed. He is only going to be more elusive being so short and quicker too.
I'm quietly optimistic that he will impress somewhat in this. Toney hasn't been this light at HW in many, many years. Maybe he won't win it, but I think he can give a good account of himself. He won't be vintage Toney of a decade gone, but this isn't asking him to be.

Toney needs to turn it in, the guys blatantly punch drunk.
Fuck knows what he was saying last week on ringside.

Honestly, I'd rather be forced to watch Jersey Girls all day, than watch James Toney fight again. I do not watch Toney fight.

First. The other fight was a prospect undercard thing

Re: Prizefighter: The International Heavyweights Nov 14
Pleasantly surprised by Toneys look. I thought he would be much heavier. He only weighed 217. I thought he'd be 245 or so.
-
Re: Prizefighter: The International Heavyweights Nov 14
Toney doesn't actually look terrible, suspect he wins this whole thing now.
-
Re: Prizefighter: The International Heavyweights Nov 14
Ok maybe spoke to soon;D What a pile of shit this whole thing will be.
-
Re: Prizefighter: The International Heavyweights Nov 14
That's 1-1 if Toney wasn't Toney.
-
Re: Prizefighter: The International Heavyweights Nov 14
That stoppage was horseshit.
-
Re: Prizefighter: The International Heavyweights Nov 14
Toney gets a KO!!!
Miles would have loved that ;D
-
Re: Prizefighter: The International Heavyweights Nov 14
He don't even know what side of the ring to get out ;D
-
Did Legg's leg cost him the first leg? Was the stoppage legit or did he leg it? JT wants Johnny Nelson .
:-)

Re: Prizefighter: The International Heavyweights Nov 14
Ok so Sprott vs this Wills guy who might be decent up next. It's either the winner of this or Toney that takes it surely.
-
Re: Prizefighter: The International Heavyweights Nov 14
Tam Seddon could have beat that guy Toney beat.
-
Re: Prizefighter: The International Heavyweights Nov 14
No way Toney wins this. The next few fighters have a bit of experience
