Who you trying to kid? It's a fight that could have gone either way. Sure Quartey had a great jab, but he was primed for Trinidad's left hook.
I'd see both guys getting dropped, but Trinidad would take over down the stretch as Quartey faded.

I rather see Pac try and deal with Ike Quartey's jab instead. I don't think he would handle it
Pac couldn't get past Morales' jab.. He looked like a deer caught in a headlight in their first meeting..
I could only imagine how he would handle Quartey's..
I think that that, right there, is why trinidad would beat Pac. At one point Tito had an excellant jab and straight right hand, and he used them. He also was tall, and he used to use that pretty tough as well, like vs barnes. Potentially, he could maintain distance and pick at Pac with the jab and staright right hand the whole fight. beat him up and stop him
At some point, Pac would make that spin out move to his own right- hell, it is his bread and butter move- and that runs him into the left hook. early on as a welter trinidad was a monster and at that point he is way too much for Pac. After he fell in love with his hook and quit throwing other punches, I think he still wins but I am less sure of it.

Dumbness the level by which dares to imply that people are dull and are uninformed to the fact that after Hopkin's trainer caught the "illegal wraps" that has won Tito Trinidad many a fight... Well, Mayorga... if one would think so, I say, not!
Damaged reputations as with Trinidad's are better swept under the rug rather than stacking it up against legitimate ones. Better keep it under wraps. The "gray matter" compensates... Discuss it more, then you endanger the ugly truth to come out to damage further this, IMO, already and has always been a non-existent reputation, for good!
There!
Lol. Ridiculous. This is about Tito at 147 not Tito post Hopkins at 160. I think Tito beats him for reasons I have already stated so dont start with this lame conspiracy theory that people are trying to character assassinate Manny because he beat up a tree trunk with arms. And enough with the illegal wraps in Tito's gloves. It was horse shit then and it is horse shit now. Urban legend that sticks around.
Agreed, @IamInuit . Nothing but typical, rehashed, butthurt rhetoric from those who unfortunately don't know any better.

Trinidad always had trouble with the jab. Oscar controlled him with it. Hopkins set him up with it. Winky Wright owned him with it. Quartey jab was better than all 3. Quartey might get careless and get dropped in the fight. But as long as he kept pumping his jab he wasn't losing.

Quartey was open for the left hook & Trinidad's was excellent. Quartey also didn't show a lot of movement & was drawn into brawls. Against Tito's power that would be bad news

Re: Pac beats Tito Trinidad at 147
I agree Tito was the best but it was only after ODH moved up did it all move around.
I think Tito would have beaten Ike but it would have been a great fight. Tito would have slaughtered Lopez like he did Campus which was one of the most entertaining fights ever.
-
Re: Pac beats Tito Trinidad at 147
I don't care really if Oscar fought opponents later on then Tito because he started his career at 130 and was not at the weight yet. Not mention when they fought Oscar total out box him and got robbed worse the Lewis vs Holyfeild the first fight any how i Still don't think Pac can box like Oscar to win it.

Oh... Trinidad-Quartey would've been a wonderful fight. The Campas fight was the turning point for me on Trinidad. Before that it was like "hey... this guy's pretty good". I remember Campas going in at 56-0 and being the monster everyone was scared of. When he dropped Trinidad early in the fight it like, "Oh-oh". But the way Trinidad came on, basically made a believer out of me... permanently.

Yes that is the fight I have watched the most, it is a classic of 2 undefeated young fighters. I wanted Oba Carr and campus to win but he made me a fan.

Re: Pac beats Tito Trinidad at 147
One of the coolest short hooks I've seen involved Tito Trinidad. Yory Boy Campas caught Felix with a very short abrupt left hook, knocked him down. Tito got up and won, but it was a very cool shot by Yory Boy. Yory Boy was young and good and undefeated at that time. So was Trinidad...
Wonder if anyone ever made a gif of it somewhere?

That left hook was almost as good as Curry v McCrory

You will have to stop pause and rewind it loads of times otherwise you will miss it. It is punch perfect.

Re: Pac beats Tito Trinidad at 147
Welterweight Champ Curry looked fantastic in that fight. He was a force, aggressive but it was skillful aggression, slick aggression. Asserted himself immediately, imposed his will and his gameplan. Everything working, the timing, the countering, slipping inside for the counters, the intensity, the focus, the speed and the power.
Milton McCrory was undefeated and a Champion in this unification fight, but Curry made him look like an amateur, like he didn't belong in the same ring with him. Reminded me of another unification fight, Bob Foster vs Vicente Rondan where Foster asserted who was The Man at 175.

Mayorga: Trinidad floored by Mayorga. De La Hoya has no trouble with him

Once again your ignorance rears its ugly head. First Trinidad "ducked" Quartey, which you had no backup for..... and now he didn't come close to stopping Camacho. Trinidad had Camacho wobbled and backing up, running for dear life. Pretty much what DLH did against Trinidad years later after tasting Felix's power.

It must of slipped my mind. What round did Trinidad floor Camacho in? That's right. He didn't. For someone who claims to be a big Trinidad fan you sure don't seem to know much about him. Like I said true boxing fans know Quartey-Trinidad had been signed when all of a sudden Trinidad decided he had issues with Don King and pulled out.

Hahaha.... no..... you're right. Trinidad didn't come close to stopping Camacho. Why? Because Camacho spent half the fight trying to tackle Trinidad, and the other half doing the "De La Hoya backpedal sprint".
LOL..... please..... don't use the term "true boxing fan" in reference to yourself. You're killing me here. Hahahaha. This is priceless. The more shit you spout, the more stupid you sound. Trinidad didn't knock down Camacho, so that "makes De La Hoya's victory that much more superior". You are one piece of work, man. Who does your material? You're in the wrong place. Standup comedy needs you. Except you'd be saying serious shit, and the place would be rocking with laughter.
No... but you're right. Camacho was very competitive against Trinidad. Good thing it didn't go another 3 rounds. Trinidad would've been in real trouble. Hahahaha!!
But back to the "leftovers theory". Not bad, huh? A clear pattern throughout the course of many years. Trinidad ruined them..... DLH beat the remains. Big brother beats the shit out of them..... removes their "0"...... and little brother comes along and kicks the dead body for good measure.
This is good shit, man. ;D ;D ;D

Re: Pac beats Tito Trinidad at 147
A prime Trinidad destroys a prime Pacquiao.
Trinidad will never be as good a fighter as Pacquiao is though.
But this is just a very bad matchup for Pacquiao.
Fightmath doesn't work, you young lil $#!t-snaps you... ;)

Re: Pac beats Tito Trinidad at 147
Sugar Ray Robinson said after watching Hearns KO Duran, that while it was true that Hearns had just knocked out Duran, that Hearns will never be as good a fighter as Duran.
That's how I would see Trinidad-Pacquiao.

Re: Pac beats Tito Trinidad at 147
Still don't see the problem with Oscar fighting them later then Tito he was not even in the division yet when Tito was fighting them. Also when they meet Oscar gave Tito a boxing lesson and was robbed so i don't think Tito needed to weaken opponents for him. Oscar took on Mosley and Ike as well he would fight anyone so i don't get your logic about Oscar Titofan he fought big names they were still big names. As for Chavez jr why are we bringing him up into this just a spoiled rich boy wastes talent.

You're a fucking idiot. And you don't know shit about boxing. I'm a go slowly. So hopefully you're dumb ass can keep up while I destroy your Trinidad ruined Campas nonsense. Before fighting Trinidad, Campas had never won anything. In fact the best fighter he had beaten was Jorge Vaca. Vaca who at his best was only a B fighter was about 70 years old when Campas beat him. So after supposedly being ruined by Trinidad, Campas not only became champion but also when on to beat better fighters than he had beaten prior to facing Trinidad. So how exactly was he ruined?

Carr: ............Trinidad - Dec '94 - TKO 8 (Carr undefeated at the time) .......... DLH - May '99 - TKO 11
(eerie string at that point of alphabetical order ;D )
Vargas: .........Trinidad - Dec '00 - TKO 12 (Vargas undefeated at the time) ............ DLH - Sept '02 - TKO 11
Mayorga: .......Trinidad - Oct '04 - TKO 8 ................. DLH - May '06 - TKO 6
Hence, the "leftovers theory".
De La Hoya just beat them better
Camacho: Both go 12. De La Hoya floors Camacho and damn near has him out. Trinidad didn't come close to stopping Camacho
Campas: Trinidad floored and hurt by Campas. De La Hoya dominates him
Carr: Trinidad hurt and floored by Carr. De La Hoya has minor problems with him
Vargas: Trinidad floored, hurt and forced to use a low blow against Vargas. De La Hoya doesn't have as much trouble against Vargas
Mayorga: Trinidad floored by Mayorga. De La Hoya has no trouble with him
of course he did "better" he fought them at least two years after Trinidad fucked all of the above up, and after Trinidad RUINED both Campas and Vargas, DLH lost to Whitaker, Trinidad beat the living snot out of him, and you can't say shit cause I'm using the same retarded ass logic that you have, cause I know that DLH was in there with Whitaker when he had more left in the tank.....2 yrs prior
So now a loss means a fighter is ruined right? So going by your moronic logic Mayorga had already ruined by Cory Spinks prior to facing Trinidad, right? Wrong stupid. Vargas and Campas both won titles after supposedly being ruined by Trinidad. :vd:
yea paper titles against who? oh that's right the likes of Raul Marquez and Shibata Flores :-X , bitch please, Martinez whooped the fuck out of Chavez Jr and still hasn't loss and you tried playing up that Silver Spoon Jr ruined him, but the difference is when I say it, it's true, Campas QUIT every fight he started getting his ass beat after the thrashing that Trinidad gave him, and well Vargas? well Trinidad busted him up so bad that his ass went running crying to the locker room before he could even get interviewed, and then couldn't even get by DLH even with the help of steroids, get off the smack buddy it's fucking up your double standard brain
Game. Set. Match
lol it was just a coincidence that he would quit every fight that he would bleed or get hit in after the Trinidad fight haha, funny as fuck how you're trying to build up a dude who QUIT in most of his losses yet you express such disdain for other fighters that you consider "quitters", just another example of your biased logic
CHECKMATE ;)
