jai has apparently left tyson's camp after sparring only five rounds, amid an array of rumors
is it really a major thing for Fury to hit the deck ?
I've lost count of how many times he's been there. If he'd stayed there sparko then that's a different matter.
Always such rumours going on as fight week nears.
I agree that it’s no big deal for him to go down in sparring.
And I also agree that with Fury, it’s about him getting up. To be fair , he would have to be nailed to the canvas.
But the thing for me , and we will soon see at press conferences and the weigh in, is that I don’t think he possesses the desire to get himself in the shape required for this sort of challenge.
I’m not expecting him to come in shredded, his body shape will never look like that. But you can also tell whether or not he has cut corners.
I agree with you and I said a while back that if he doesn't think he's in good enough shape he'll pull out.
That's why if the fight goes ahead I pick him to win.
How the hell are they going to do a gloves are off showdown for this one....
No fucking way the cruiserweight beats the superheavyweight..... one would have to be out of one's mind, come on lads
There's a boatload of irony of the talk about Fury being "distracted" with Saudi Arabia ;D. Ya think?! There are aspects of the carny village that are there to trip up any serious fighter. Remember...that overall grand spectacle is much bigger and more important than just the individual fighter there ol' greedy-belly ;). You don't own the circus, ya just work under the tent.
‘Jai Opetaia has recently returned from Saudi Arabia where he sparred and trained with Tyson Fury,’ his promoters said.
‘They were fantastic, competitive rounds and an incredible experience for Jai.
‘However, any talk of either boxer being dropped is not true. Jai is now back in Australia finalising his preparation to defend his world title and cannot wait to do so in Saudi Arabia.’

Not seen much in media about this at all.
How is fury looking in the gym or is he staying away from the cameras.
Not too sure about that promo....
Still have my doubts this fight will happen
Hearn has echoed Opetaia's team's remarks, insisting any suggestion that Fury was put on his backside in sparring as "complete rubbish".
He told talkSPORT: "I saw the piece yesterday with Johnny Nelson and Spencer Oliver.
"Johnny Nelson was adamant that Fury had been dropped in sparring by Jai Opetaia.
"Jai Opetaia is with Matchroom, he's a tremendous fighter. As far as I can see, it's absolute rubbish.
"Jai Opetaia flew in, he did five rounds with Tyson Fury. I mean, he will set about him as he always does, but as I understand it nobody got hurt or dropped in the spar.
"Then after that Jai went back because it's all southpaws in [Fury's] training camp [to prepare for Usyk], and he's fighting Mairis Briedis who's an orthodox fighter.
"So I think it's absolute rubbish, sparring stories are sparring stories.
"As I understand it, Fury's having a great camp and I think he's taking it very seriously.
"I expect a much better Tyson Fury in this fight against Usyk. Usyk looks razor focused and sharp. It's a 50/50 fight.

Yeah the promo is bollocks , as is most of this Saudi Marketing tbh. in answer to your previous post about how Fury's looking , I'll be honest , i saw a "Gloves are off" between them the other day and it was probably filmed a couple of weeks ago. And being honest, and i have to say they were in normal clothes, but Fury did look a bit leaner , so maybe he is taking it seriously.
my biggest downer on Fury is that I don't know if he's got a camp of this Seriousness left in Him, but I might be wrong .
I still think Usyk Wins and I've still got my reservations about Fury's fitness.
Glad I’m not the only one with the promo ;D. Sometimes less is more, trying to be everything to everyone bad cgi and wth do we need the Fury family in there. Looks like they’re dinging us $70 in the States for card. Usyk has noticeably bulked up in the shoulders.
Ha! That promo is class. The title is absolute pony and ripe for a post-chilli Brock poem, but the sound and CGI are brilliantly done and utterly naff in equal measure. SO bad it is good ;D
I really hope Usyk stops him as unlikely as they might sound, just to see the look on John's face and to hear all the Fury fan boys crying into their cornflakes :lickish:
Ring of fire. Is that permitted in Saudi?
Don't get me wrong. As much as I think fury wont be in decent shape I wouldn't be surprised either if he's fooled us all and comes in and does the business. Intriguing as always.
Me and @ross called it right 10 years ago --- Tyson Fury is an atg.
Fury AXES Usyk in 8. A sickening slow beatdown over 8 rounds, an unfair fight due to size. Fury fucks him up the ass.
So am hearing rumours the fights off....
So he's cut himself sparring apparently.
Bullshit. What a joke he has become.
Realised he couldn't get in shape no doubt. Only himself to blame.
here is footage of the sparring incident. the elbow looks suspiciously intentional

there is talk that filip hrgovic could step in
sounds about right

sounds like the entire february seventeenth card has now been scrapped
I think Fury has just increasingly become a liability to the division. Tbh the quicker he calls it a day the better. No doubt the cut is obvious, but maybe next time save us all the circus attractions and properly take care of "fighting man" business when the opportunity first and freshly presents itself. Big goofball.
Shame is Usyk now forced to pivot on a dime and so many undercard fighters have the exposure and pay ripped from under them. All the liquid billions upon billions fawned over in Saudi and surly they are not being asked to leave empty handed. Can't see the belts staying as one if we're talking end of year now.
Usyk still listed but now vs TBA...show must go on right?
The more I see of the footage and hearing stuff I actually think this might be genuine the cut.
Crazy coincidence but genuine.
And unless the photo fury posted was air brushed I was surprised how in shape he looked.
Fury looked in good shape for him and injuries happen but with a week to go you should not be anything that would put the whole card at risk.
Very unprofessional.
sounds like it's been rescheduled for may eighteenth
What ? Have you seen the footage ?

This looks like they used the same cameras that they use to capture UFO sightings. You notice every time you see a video of a UFO sighting on video it's always grainy and you can't see sh*t. I reckon they used a Nokia 3310 to film it (lol)
https://images.mobilefun.co.uk/graph...xelp/14001.jpg
The video quality is sus asf.
- They cut the video right at the moment of the "supposed" cut.
- There is no clear angle of where the punch/elbow landed at all. It looks like it was bang on the chin to me.
- Fury wipes his eye with his glove, which is white and there's no blood and then the video stops just before he gets close.
Fury had headgear on. The main purpose of headgear is to prevent cuts and abrasions on the face, not to pad the blow as many ppl think. So getting a cut with a headgear on is difficult. I was in boxing gyms for years and I can count on one hand the times I've seen someone cut with a guard on.
It's 2024 they know how to make them so it's hard to get cut.

Cuts like this will instantly start flowing blood like crazy. Go and prick your finger with a pin (even a tiny prick) and watch how quick blood will flow. There should have been blood on Fury's glove, his face, his body as well. Even Holyfield pointed to that, that is incredible hard to get cut with a headgear on
Initially his camp talked about a long postponement, until September at the earliest, and then when independent doctors have had a look (I guess) a new date is set in May.
The natural thing would be to try and sound as positive as possible so as to not derail such an event, but they went the other route. And why would they need at least nine months for a cut ?
All the rumours that Fury was having a sh*t camp look true. Also that Jay Opetia was giving Fury hell that too looks true. And there was all the rumours from the other camp that Usyk was in a fantastic shape and was sending sparring partners home.
The whole thing is dodgy, with the most dodgy fighter at the heart of it.
Maybe.
Maybe not.
Maybe he also hurt his ankle before the Wlad rematch. Maybe a random farmer was feeding him tainted boar meat. Maybe he really did want to make the AJ fight and the Usyk fight in 2022. Maybe Sugarhill lied that he was NOT training him for the Usyk fight and Pop-Pop John was telling the truth. Maybe.
Maybe not.
His actions are against this being an accident. He only gets these problems and excuses when he has to face good opponents. I've never really been a tin-foil hat type but you're a very naïve if you're not suspicious but hey, I guess that is a requirement in order to be a real Tipsy Fan.
When the Tipsy King comes up with another reason to avoid the fight in May I wonder what you will say then?
What I also think is there a huge amount of karma for Fury given how much crap he gave Haye for pulling out of their fight with a nasty cut - he called Haye a shithouse and said a 'fighting man' wouldn't pull out due to a cut.
So ? I think the problem is that Fury doesn't have a decent training camp left in him. He's got that silk pajama syndrome.
Fury might have to fake his own death to get out of this one
https://media.tenor.com/5vKnZA8IzwIA...a-laughing.gif
The edgelord grifter Fury is leading us into an indefinite postponement death spiral. The Klitschko rematch was postponed for a similar thing and then Fury just retired, and then unretired soon after Wlad himself retired and Klitschko has been the only good opponent he's beaten. He's managed to dine out on that for 8+ years and the fight was a stinking bore fest where Fury didn't hurt Wlad. At least AJ went for it and stuck it on Wlad and got him out of there.
Then there were very prolonged negotiations with AJ for undisputed, long enough for Wilder to pull the trigger on his rematch clause which Fury's people had reassured everyone was void by that point, except that it wasn't.
These things could all be in good faith as could this latest, and Fury just having terrible luck when facing his biggest challenges. But we do know that he actually faked being in camp for Usyk last year, Just for his own trainer to expose him. So we know he will go to some pretty big lengths to look like he's going for something that he actually wants no part of.
And this is the second cancelling of an official date with Usyk.
You can believe anything you want, but there is a zero chance that I won't question anything that comes from Fury or his team.
Wasn't in shape and would've got outslicked. Looked for a way out
