That was an amazing display by Arce. The guy has guts on tap.
I agree Marble, but many more fights for Jorge like the one tonight, and he's going to end up punchy. I hope he calls it quits and goes out on top.
I hate to say it, because I like Kelly Pavlik, but I don't think there's anyway he's going to be able to hang with the big dogs at 168, he's just too slow, doesn't throw punches in bunches, and he's way too predictable. Froch, Bute, Ward, and even Glen Johnson would eat him alive.
P.S. The good news for Pavlik is, he's got enough tatoos to last him a lifetime.
Arce punchy? Cripes I thought that had happened 2-3 years ago! Seriously! I thought the guy shoulda called it a career after Mijares dominated him. What the hell do I know?
Agree 100% on Pavlik.

I wasn't paying attention, did Showime give us fight time weights for Manny-Shane?

I don't know, I got a stream with Jim Watt calling the fight, Pacquiao doesn't usually re-hydrate that much does he?

Nope. Just trying to figure out the legs/movement issue. Age or overtraining?

Maybe he didnt warm up enough. He said they were coming good in the end which I would highly doubt be the case if it was either age or overtraining.

I think it was Manny's opponent, it's hard to look good against an old pro like Mosley who was just trying to survive. With a few exceptions, I felt like Pacquiao never really turned it up a notch to take Shane out of there.
Hang ten dude, i'm off to bed.

Good point!
Re: Pacquiao vs. Mosley - Fight Night talk!
Man! I am so disappointed in Mosley. I can understand what he did after getting hit with the straight left, but he promised us he would go after Pacquiao and didn't.

Man imagine the self doubt going through his mind. He hasnt been dropped in yrs, in his mind he cant be dropped by this guy...his chin is granite and then BOOOM down he goes. The fight was done as soon the left hand touched his chin, mentally beaten.

Mosley used the Barrera 2 model and threw about 7 right hands all night. He circled effectively, but showed that he cannot throw more than a 2 punch combo without running in and holding. Manny Pac merely did what he had to do, he showed us nothing new.
What this has also showed is that Manny Pac is nothing more than an opportunist when it comes to matchmaking. A cheater followed by a former great who hasn't won in a number of years.
I am sure I am not alone in feeling this way. Few of us believed that this fight should have been made and the boos in the crowd confirmed why.
It was a very poor fight.
I agree it was a horrible fight. It went like a lot of Floyd's fights. But it doesn't reflect on a damn thing except what Mosley was incapable of. I think he caught the Clottey syndrome.
As far as Pac picking opponents, it's more a reflection on Top Rank. We all know who's next in line. I think the only chance for Floyd to get the big money fight with Pac is to step up to the plate now because I think there won't be any more opportunity in the future. Floyd will be kicking himself for not taking the last offer till he reaches his grave.
Re: Pacquiao vs. Mosley - Fight Night talk!
One has to take Bella Gonzalez from Mosley and give to a real man.

Clottey was a punching machine compared to this version of Mosley. Mosley threw only 260 punches against Manny whilst Clottey threw 399. It was an absolute shocker from Shane. I have never seen a top level fighter lose all of their confidence and will like that. He threw the right hand about seven times in the fight and refused to unglue it from his chin.
Surely he has to retire now. There is nowhere for him to go and he is obviously a long way down the totem pole. Judging on how he has been in the comeback off the 18 month layoff I think he has slipped a lot physically. The signs were there with Mayorga, but there is little room for doubt now. He still has a good boxing brain, going 12 with Manny is achievement enough, but unlike someone like Cotto, Mosley was never really in the fight or posed a threat. He might have edged round 1, but a shut out from then on. The late KD was a mistake.
Re: Pacquiao vs. Mosley - Fight Night talk!
After last night I'm even more certain Mayweather would school Pac. Mosley has never been a huge counter puncher but he tried adopting those tactics last night and had SOME success. Mayweather will land right hands on Pac coming in all night and I can even see him stopping Pac. IMO Pacquiao is tailor made for Floyd Mayweather.
I just hope they get the fight on now. We've seen Pac-Marquez twice and all that happens is Arum pays the judges off every time. We all know how one sided Mayweather vs Ortiz would be and unless Floyd truly believes he needs a tune up due to his inactivity I think the time has to be now before either fighter can use the age excuse. Mayweather is 34 and should he fight again before a Pac fight he would be 35 (assuming that they fought after that). Pac is 32 and people were suggesting last night (although I disagree) that he may be on the slide. The time is now for Floyd vs Pacquiao or it will be never.
Both men need to take a leaf from Haye and Wlad and sign up for a 50/50 fight straight down the middle on all fronts and agree to fight where most money is being offered. IMO there has never been a fight more deserving of a 50/50 purse split!
