re: last movie you watched (Flag Up SPOILERS)
I hear you, I'm not anti-CGI I just need a reason why it's there and not just "because it's cool". Pixar has put out some entertaining, memorable, and quality films and some have been much more original than Avatar...

Right now I'm watching "The Big Sleep" with Bogart and Bacall, great flick. And this Tuesday Godfather II will be playing at the same old timey theatre I went to last Tuesday.
When are you going to get to those old pictures Drago? At least some of them you will find totally worth it.

Havent seen to many movies lately guys and I really haven't posted much on here after I got back from Vegas I have been super busy playing catch up.
Only movie I have soon lately is The Soloist thought it was a pretty decent flight. I'm still waiting to See Inglorious Bastards.
I went to the IMAX to check out Avatar last weekend but the theater was so damn packed I couldn't find a seat so I just left.

"The Devil's Advocate"....old school???
Dude seriously....just take a look at the AFI 100 years 100 movies catch a couple of those and then let me know how wonderful something like "The Devil's Advocate" is. Sure it's entertainment but there's a big difference in entertainment and film.
"The Guns of Navarone" was on earlier.....great great movie. Now I believe I'll cap off my evening with "Casablanca"

re: last movie you watched (Flag Up SPOILERS)
Sherlock Holme's out in a few days over there, I am quite curious, not sure it'll be that great but I've always loved SHerlock Holmes things and I think that Robert Downey JR is on a roll for great performances lately so there must be something interesting getting out of it all.

re: last movie you watched (Flag Up SPOILERS)
paranormal activity, spoke to a few people who hate it & sum it scares stupid, i wasnt scared by it personally but there was a few freaky bits in it tho. mainly there is only one person on the screen at a time so it does well to make a film 90 mins long (gotta say maybe 10 mins to long) i am a big fan of the blair witch project & its not as good as that one but it has its moments. as i watched on dvd as opposed to cinema i think i would have rated this much higher because i imagine it would be ten times scarier on big screen as blair witch was.

The Devil's Advocate is 13 years old? but i chose my wording wrong lyle i should of wrote 'something i can rely on' as opposed to 'old skool'

My significant other wanted to see Avatar and I wanted to see what the fuss was all about. The movie disappointed, it was basically a poor man's Dances with Wolves but with loads of CGI.

Ha ha ha, yeah I did see that South Park episode. I'm guessing teens and people in their early 20s may think this is an cinematic masterpiece but seasoned movie buffs will not find it very impressive. It is visually stunning, but the plot, characterization and pace of the movie leaves something to be desired.

re: last movie you watched (Flag Up SPOILERS)
I'm glad that someone other than myself also cares about plot. All Avatar is, is a platform for Hollywood to show off new CGI and technology. I just don't think any movie should rely on 100% special effects to carry a film, unless it's an action movie and they aren't going to find their way on Masterpiece Theatre anytime soon

yup too true
Keep getting told how great this movie is to watch visually. As an actual story it falls way short of the mark
Cartman and smurfette would of been a match made in heaven ;D
