Dodging a fighter is a cardinal sin in boxing and is something i can never be accused of, unlike one such character who came on the scene at the end of my era. Roy Jones, James Toney and Michael Nunn for example. I did not dodge.
Lets use Roy Jones as an example. When people asked me why i wouldnt fight him, I would say to them, `Never mind the title or my job, a fight like that could take five or six years off my life.` I was well aware of that. He was, pound-for-pound, arguably the best fighter on the planet; in regards to his style, his devastating punching ability, the whole repertoire, he had it.
The rule is that if you are champion of the world for one body, you cannot be the No. 1 contender for another belt. Unless someone was officially the recognised No. 1 contender, i had no professional obligation to face them. With Roy Jones, he was fortunately (and i use that word with the utmost respect) never No. 1 contender. Had he been, I would not have dodged. I would have taken the fight. Would have i have won the fight? Highly unlikely. What would have been for sure was that he would have come away from the fight and got hurt, and i would have been hurt probably far more than he was. It would of been a war. Technically we would have been well-matched, so our pure grit would have started to come into play. I believe we both had powerful wills, so I feel that fight would have ended up running on pure instinct. That can be an exceptionally violent occurrence. Interestingly, i was told that Roy Jones was rumoured to have said that the only fighter he had reservations about facing was me. I dont remember any of my critics saying much about that.
I copied and pasted that from another forum.
Re: Did CHRIS EUBANK ever spar with ROY JONES JNR ??
Why do us eubank fans think chris would have beat roy jones jr when even eubank doesnt believe it?
Eubank didnt say that he couldnt beat him. Eubank also said he wouldnt have wanted a fight with herold graham. he was almost impossible to hit. he didnt mention in his autobiougraphy how he once floored the bomber graham in his own gym!
You cannot stop eubank in a fight. When eubank fought lesser opponents, he was less active, but watch his fights against benn1 and watson2 when it really meant something to him. he was reallly aggressive, and determined.
This guy could have not only beat jones jr, he could have got stopped!

Man seriously, get those pics up. You promised 24 hours, but I've been waiting 24 days :-X
Re: Did CHRIS EUBANK ever spar with ROY JONES JNR ??
How long now, One-Man? Seriously, when?
Re: Did CHRIS EUBANK ever spar with ROY JONES JNR ??
If we are talking as pros Roy JOnes Jr. would dominate the first 4 rounds, and if he couldn't take Eubank out he would coast the rest of the way, but if he could hurt Eubank easily this fight would be a KO... Roy is far superior... as an Amateur I'm not sure who would win.
Re: Did CHRIS EUBANK ever spar with ROY JONES JNR ??
Jones would've beaten Eubank 120-108 imo. Eubank's workrate was only 30 secs per round post Watson and that would not have been enough. No way Jones would top him though
Re: Did CHRIS EUBANK ever spar with ROY JONES JNR ??
There is too much blind love for Eubank and too much patriotism here, not enough realism. Angel Eyes gets cool clicked,if Eubank HIMSELF said that he would not fight RJJ as he was such a devestating puncher, that kind of ends the argument of whether Eubank could beat him. RJJ would win everyone round,in his prime,he was too much for anyone period. The speed, power etc were just PHENOMENAL. Granted he should have retired earlier but this guy had it all!

Eubank would of made Jones look bad, but it is hard to see him win a round with his low activity level and lack of stamina.

Like I said, too much blind love and I was referring to this particular scenario, and who are you to tell me who I have and have not seen fight. I have seen many of Eubank's fights and by looking at him,you can see that RJJ would beat on him badly but when you hear Eubank say it himself.....And again, don't be telling me who I have and have not seen fight.

Eubank is the most hated and under-rated fighter in the history of boxing. There was never any love for him.
And your boring me..
